Sounds deep. If I had a choice I would have a fully fantasy, where the players make there own worlds. I myself, would defiantely make a Draculas castle, and mod it after the SotN castle, and The hell in Dante's Inferno. Maybe a huge underwater place, that had like Kraken ^_^

Hmm... Closest I can think of is Ultima Online (uo.com). P2P.

(Description from what I've heard / 4-6 years ago when I played)
Large world consisting of facets, which are a world itself in each.
Fun as hell pvp in the Fellucca facet.
Crafting skills such as Blacksmithy/Mining, Carpentry/Fletching/Woodcutting, Fishing/Cooking, etc,...
Own your own tiny 5x5 single story house all the way up to a castle. (Good luck.. XD I recall seeing a castle sold on ebay for $1k.)
Can mount various creatures from simple horses and llamas, to exotic pets that I can't recall.
Can tame loads of different monsters from simple chickens and farm animals to ancient dragons.
I don't remember anything about what your character looks like. This may be the one feature it is missing.

Yeah, all from memory//what I've heard.. I played the game for about a year when I was young.

Not just a huge world - a number of different worlds that your character could travel to:

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, merger of the two - Star Wars-ish and Shadowrun-like, Past no magic, Present no magic, Victorian era...throw in alien planets both friendly and not

make it totally skill-based [character skill, not who is less laggy "skill"] with progression of skills like the old PnP RPG Runequest [chance to learn when successfully using a skill is 100-skill level; random d100 roll.  Over 100 advancement happens only on a roll of 01]

allow character advancement [skill training] while offline giving one random roll every 5 min, as well as a browser-based way of allocating that training [1st skill rolls every 5 min, 2nd rolls every 10, 3rd every 20, 4th evry 30 and last every hour]

provide many combat moves earned at different skill levels making combat interactive [set a que for moves so that lag is not a factor]; allow targetting of specific body parts with corresponding chances of getting a successful hit there

have logical loot drops - animals drop bones/fur [if your skinning skill is good enough]/meat; robots drop metal gears/parts

have vegetable and mineral components to harvest/mine

make all gear beyond the most basic be player made; creator could put their name on items crafted; quality of materials and skill , as well as a random roll, would determine the final product's stats...making each item unique and possibly making something new, especially on a world where magic works

give everyone a basic apartment on each world [in their race's embassy]; only the player can travel between worlds, the gear is left when s/he teleports [like Terminator..]

allow player built villages/towns in certain wilderness areas [and allow those villages to hire NPC guards; provide their own government model - democrasy, kingdom, oligarchy, fusion of kingdom and a house of lords]; allow those villages to align with other PC and NPC villages/cities and declare economic and full out warfare or declare neutrality [which may or may not be recognised by other PC villages]

Allow PvP anywhere, BUT set law levels on each world.  Some worlds would punish PvP so much as to make it foolish to try - KOS at all NPC cities, bounties on PK heads - possibly even some worlds could ban PK by implanting chips that prevent PvP except in an arena.  Other worlds would have lower law levels where only the major city with the Embassies would be safe.

    VOIP built in

Have the ability to play and advance as the MOBs - you may start as a rat, but you can branch out from thereimage Players could have a total of 6 character slots in any combination of PC and MOB [I see LOTRO is going to do something similar!]

Have some static areas, but also have instanced areas that change based on player performance.   50 caves, but what is in each one changes based on how long it has been since it was cleared by other players

No "Conning" of other players/MOBs - the player must learn to tell from visual clues/location how tough the opponents are

    Anybody have any other suggestions?

Players would simple spend alot of time crafting and instantly become the 'godly one' due to a lucky roll. Besides, it's much more fun to be fighting that Ancient Dragon and see the 'ubergosuomfg' item it may have dropped. -> make all gear beyond the most basic be player made; creator could put their name on items crafted; quality of materials and skill , as well as a random roll, would determine the final product's stats...making each item unique and possibly making something new, especially on a world where magic works Everyone? Hell no! Any decently large game with every player having a house would take up insane amounts of space. Keep it UO style, where players can build houses in any space that they physically can, but there's only so much space, making it a prestigous feature to own a house, and the greater the size of the house, the more bragging rights you have. -> give everyone a basic apartment on each world [in their race's embassy]; only the player can travel between worlds, the gear is left when s/he teleports [like Terminator..] UO has factions that can control towns in certain facets, in which they're able to set guards, npc prices, whatever. But it definitely could be expanded. -> allow player built villages/towns in certain wilderness areas [and allow those villages to hire NPC guards; provide their own government model - democrasy, kingdom, oligarchy, fusion of kingdom and a house of lords]; allow those villages to align with other PC and NPC villages/cities and declare economic and full out warfare or declare neutrality [which may or may not be recognised by other PC villages] KOS? In the felucca facet in UO, PVP IS anywhere, except for towns in which guards will attack and kill you for committing a crime. But for those players who want to avoid PVP the Trammel facet is pretty much a mirror image of the same world. However, certain features such as special boss-type monster are only in Felucca, making the risk of glory so much better. -> Allow PvP anywhere, BUT set law levels on each world. No idea what VOIP is. Nevermind, just urbandictionaried it. Dude, use teamspeak. So much better than any built-in system IMO. -> VOIP built in I'd hate to see a game get ruined by this -> Have the ability to play and advance as the MOBs - you may start as a rat, but you can branch out from thereimage Players could have a total of 6 character slots in any combination of PC and MOB [I see LOTRO is going to do something similar!] Could be developed into something intereting. -> Have some static areas, but also have instanced areas that change based on player performance.   50 caves, but what is in each one changes based on how long it has been since it was cleared by other players In other words no health bars? Good and bad things come from this. -> No "Conning" of other players/MOBs - the player must learn to tell from visual clues/location how tough the opponents are   Anybody have any other suggestions?
If I had the time to think up more I would. I may post again later, but I've got a few papers to finish for class later tonight.

When you said "Not to look to much like the  next person" I thought of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.

It's mostly a PvE game, but there is PvP. You can own a house (or build a ship), a mount (flying or otherwise), and while there are no pet classes I think all classes can earn docile pets.

SWG but its a broken game.. either way it has ALL of what you said. (there is no one that looks like me)

i make me own story i am a smugler, bounty hunting is player controled (sort of) and if you want you can relax in a cantina and watch entertainers (real players) dance or play music with very hot suits reveling clothing and cool starwars instruments.

Actually, Dark Age of Camelot meets all of your criteria.... have you ever given it a try?

That's what would make this d20 generic game so good - you don't HAVE TO go to any worlds that you don't want to!  You like pure tactical combat with no magic, stay on that world.  You like guns, go to that world.  Hate elves? Go to a world without them.

Idea seems stupid to me -> allow character advancement [skill training] while offline giving one random roll every 5 min, as well as a browser-based way of allocating that training [1st skill rolls every 5 min, 2nd rolls every 10, 3rd every 20, 4th evry 30 and last every hour]
My guess is that you have many hours a day to play, making you a "hardcore" gamer.  Many people do NOT have more than a few hours a week to play.  This would not let the casual player keep up completely with his/her more hardcore friends, but would allow them to group longer.  It would also let the casual player feel like they were advancing even when they couldn't play - cutting down the feeling of having to grind.
Good luck finding a mmo with a decent hitting specific body parts system
That is what this thread is about - what would make the "perfect" game.
UO has player made objects with creator mark on them, but in no way should they be the 'powerful' items of the game. Players would simple spend alot of time crafting and instantly become the 'godly one' due to a lucky roll. Besides, it's much more fun to be fighting that Ancient Dragon and see the 'ubergosuomfg' item it may have dropped.
This gives crafters a purpose in the game.  Believe it or not, for some people crafting is more fun than fighting.  Many people like to do both.  Also, this would allow MORE access to the "ubergosumfg" item than just the looter that got the lucky roll on [or ninja looted] the Ancient Dragon.  I expect that your argument to that would be that anyone could have the item, not just the powergamer.  I would argue that only a powergamer-crafter could make that item or be able to afford to buy it from a powercrafter.

Everyone? Hell no! Any decently large game with every player having a house would take up insane amounts of space. Keep it UO style, where players can build houses in any space that they physically can, but there's only so much space, making it a prestigous feature to own a house, and the greater the size of the house, the more bragging rights you have. ->
The apartments would be instanced and therefore take up NO geographical space.  Founding villages and towns is where people can wave their epen houses - and stores and factories etc - at each other if they wish.

I'd hate to see a game get ruined by this -> Have the ability to play and advance as the MOBs - you may start as a rat, but you can branch out from thereimage Players could have a total of 6 character slots in any combination of PC and MOB [I see LOTRO is going to do something similar!]
Can you explain how this would ruin the game?  It gives people who don't want to PvP with their character a way to PvP within the rules governing the MOBs.  Don't you think it'd be fun to suddenly find a MOB acting intelligently?

In other words no health bars? Good and bad things come from this. -> No "Conning" of other players/MOBs - the player must learn to tell from visual clues/location how tough the opponents are
No Health bars for other players or MOBs- BUT like the grandfather of shooters, DOOM, you could see them getting hurt worse by getting black eyes, bleeding, limping, ...   I know it probably is impossible to code it now, but remember, this is what would make the "perfect" game.
