i want this game to...

in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

Be dirty, bloody, bone chilling, horrifying and graphic beyond all belief. I'm so sick of the way wow looks......ugh...I dont even play it and it pisses me off. I want the monsters to look frightening and not like a cartoon. I want my character to look inspiring...not silly. I just really hope this is a hardcore...in every sense of the word...game.

    Sorry to burst your bubble, but I think yer barking up the wrong tree.  You need the Age of Conan forum.  You'll find it's a bit more suited to sadists and the mentally ill.

    well this game will have a teen (I think :?) rating so it won't be all
    that bloody and scary as you want. It will be a lot better then WoW
    though (talking about looks)

    povey after reading your threads elsewhere i come to conclusion all you like to do is bait.  You know WAR will not have this, i even love your comment on the hype page.  Please go bait elsewhere, also you seem to be historically wrong on your statements.

    Id love it to look grittier and darker also. Sort of how daoc was. As a side benefit in daoc, it made a bit harder to spot people in pvp, especially at night.


    But I know it wont be dark.

    If I remember correctly you will be able to change the color of the armor your wearing. Ala' fake stealth.

    In another post I said that I used to play Warhammer pen & paper.
    There was a reason for choosing Warhammer instead of lets say AD&D (who was more popular back then).
    The sole reason was that it was dirtier, darker and had this chaotic medieval feeling - filthy streets filled with cut-thorats, rats, buildings badly constructed, etc... (I remember that I was once a rat hunter - going from home to home collecting and setting rat-traps! image).

    Looking at the cover there's a Troll Slayer with piercings and tattoos killing a goblin or an orc and a human tresspassing his sword through an ogre with a mohican... iThe cover isn't that bloody or gory but still you got the point right way that this game isn't totally for fainted hearts.

    Warhammer pen & paper has a pretty gorish gameplay (I remember the description of the effects of some attacks, and I quote "The head of your enemy flies 1D4 meters in a random direction" or better "You strike your oponent in its throat, both you and your oponent are bathed in blood. Heshe falls on the ground loosing blood in 1D4 rounds..." - there's plenty more like that, hehehe.
    Althought it may sound imature but at the heat of a fighting game session it was great to hear.

    Ok, enough of the nostalgic part!

    I'm kinda kidding but really I would love it if it would be all gloomy and bloody but locked with a parental controled password for kids to be abble to play.
    But in the end it's not really that necessary, and I won't mind at all to see it "cleaner" - I would be already more than happy to play and enjoy the game as it is. ;)

    I know I have flame it a lot, but I still have some faith in it!  I just wish I was wrong and that it will be amazing.  I will almost certainly buy it to try it, regardless of their bundles with mixing factions.

    imageI new here, and not used to actually posting in forums.  Typically I just enjoy reading the banter of all the peeps here.  But, I have been looking forward to this game for about a year now and am really hyped about it.

     

    I think what i want most is to have that same feeling while playing the tabletop version, I want the MMO to be as faithful to the spirit of Warhammer as it can.

    The teen rating will certainly keep the gore from getting out of hand, but that still allows a good blood squirt here and there.  Check out some of the newer screenshots and you'll get the idea.

    Haaha, logangregor, how can you call that fake stealth? Have you lost all touch with reality? THAT'S HOW STEALTH ACTUALY WORKS! You blend in with your environment. Sure it would be better if you could actually sneak(crouch or crawl, not a 'go invisible' button), but colors are a good start.

    Warhammer is bloody. Get over it. The MMORPG should be bloody as well. Orcs, given a bad roll on group Wagh! powers, should explode, sending chunks everywhere. THATS warhammer.

    Considering the game will have a teen rating, I'd say chances are that that's not going to happen.  Just to remind you of what a Teen rating entails...

    ESRB Rating : Teen
    Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.

    Nope, don't see anything in there about exploding bodies being permissable.  Yeah, go check Age of Conan, they're going with the mature rating, far more likely to be giving you what you want.

    I just want more interesting PVP options than WOW...

    PVP in wow is just run around n kill people.  And if you do it enough...you get better gear/equipment that allows you to kill more people faster.  And the point is???

    I hope there is some sense of an actual war going on so that what you do might actually have a bigger effect than someone merely doing a corpse run....

    Depends on which Warhammer you're looking at.  I don't remember seeing an orc miniature blow up and send chunks everywhere. :-p  Not to mention how silly that would be in an mmorpg. :)

    Well yes it depends on wich Warhammer GAME you're looking at. But not seeing an orc blown to pieces doesn't make it says Warhammer isn't gory. Just read the post I wrote earlier on this forum...

    Some of the games in GW's Warhammer design, drawings, video-games, miniatures, etc (yes even miniatures. Hell I got a chaos warrios with a skin mask/face nailed onto his shoulder pad! Most Chaos has deformities like tentacles, claws, spikes - come on we all know that) are more gory or less gory depending on wich market the specific game is oriented.
    Example: Hero Quest wasn't that gory as I think it was more oriented for kids and young teens.
    But then again in Warhammer Fantasy RPG some of the descriptions could be described as gory (already gave some examples in that earlier post).
    Some of the novels were also pretty gory in some parts. (I remember reading a 40K novel... and the thing was that some Commander ate the brain of another believing he would gain his knowledge).

    So you see, it all depends on the game and to wich gamer (adult or kid) it is oriented - and I also believe in you what you believe is gore enough or not.

    Is WAR going to be gory, gloomy, and etc...?
    Ask the question to the man in charge or wait for it's release or to some glimpse of what it will look like in reality.

    I would love to see it that way... all gloomy, gory, etc... but if not it's fine by me as I'll be more than happy to play the game already.
