Hi everyone. I was looking on the FoH boards and saw this poll, and I thought I might see what other boards think.
Here's a link to the poll (I didn't used the forum poll because I can manage this one easier). http://ryun.freepolls.com/cgi-bin/polls/004/poll_center.htm
Please, don't vote more than once. I'm really curious to see what everyone thinks, so I'd like to keep it as accurate as possible

I have been watching Vanguard for almost a year and a half as it develops. It "sounds" good and sometimes looks good. However, I find myself continually wavering. Sometimes I think its a have to buy, sometimes I don't really care.
I read alot of "hype" but have been on the MMO scene long enough to realize what hype is. Developers "Delivering on the hype" they create is as rare as a truly great game. Currently there are a few games looking to come out in the next 5 to 6 months that show some promise. Gods & Heroes, Vanguard, and possibly Age of Conan.
I left LOTRO off the list due to Turbines poor track record in the past several years.
I KNOW I am buying G&H at launch. My excitement for this game hasn't wavered in the least. My anticipation has continually grown based on the solid forum community, the unique new options, and Steig Heiland (sp?). It's hard to doubt the Diablo 2 genius.
I simply do not have the same faith in the former EQ developers, so at this time I am simply straddling the fence.
Maybe I will get lucky and get a beta slot I signed up for so long ago to truly help make my decision. If that doesn't happen I imagine I will continue to be "up" some days and "down" others on Vanguard's prospects until its release.

BTW- It's really going to have to be a sepctacular sandbox game for me to get over my hatred of SOE enough to give them any percentage of my money

Ill probably upgrade my EQ2 account to a Station account and give it a shot.
Will there be a non-raiding server? When?
Same answer assuming it is not after the release of a MMO which grab all my interest...such as HJ maybe.

Do I ever sleep?
Every mmorpg that comes out?
That's a buttload of money, especially since this year looks to have a lot of new mmorpg releases.
Nope, it's just another raid game, where you'll end up with a second rate character if you don't go on PVE raids.
No they are putting 20% of the best items in Raids. From Brad's point of view this means the 70% or so that are in grouping places means its a balanced game. But in fact this is just way to get enforce both grouping and raiding. If I want to get my character tricked I must raid becase certain items are only available in a raid.
Therefore whether they realize it or not they are enforcing raid every bit as much as EQ1 enforced grouping.
I'm over the EQ clones

I have no need, want or desire to play a self proclaimed "hard-core" game.
I have no problem with a game being designed without my needs being attended to though, the great thing about the MMO world is that there should be something for everyone and based on what information has been put out there, I just don't see this one being for me.
I certainly hope the best for those eagerly awaiting the title though, I know lots of people are pinning quite a bit of hope on Vanguard. It would certanly be a pitty if they coudn't pull it through for their fans.

No, he hasn't. He's implied that in a weasely way in some press comments, but he's made it quite clear when talking specifically that when you assemble a set of the best items for a given class/build/situation that some of them will be availible only from raids. He's also quite clearly explained that he believes raiding should give better rewards than grouping and why, and there's a specific quote from him about that on the silkyvenom FAQ. While not all of the best gear will come from raids, it will be impossible to get all of the best gear without raiding, so if you don't raid you'll be second rate, plain and simple.
Amen, I have no interest in playing another Everclone Grindquest yet alone one that labels itself a hardcore one.
SoE involvement is also a big negative. I honestly cant think of another project that I am less interested in.
I have about as much hate in me toward SOE as many of you, however I will give this game a shot due to the fact it has the potential to become a great game.
As far as I know they haven't said what percentage of the items will be where, just that they're ensuring that if you want a set of the best items for a class/build you'll need get some from raiding, some from grouping, and some from soloing. They have said that the content will be about 20% raids, 60% group, 20% solo, but I'm not aware that they've ever said loot will follow that distribution. From his comments on how he believes raiding should get better loot I wouldn't be suprised if more of the best gear comes from raiding than the content percentages indicate, and of course it's possible that they'd bias the loot in some other way.
Exactly. I was interested in the game right until I discovered that you'll have to raid; mostly group content interested me, but being second rate for not raiding killed every drop of interest.
