aye, i also think flight will be a Very wanted power, but in the begining of the game no one can have it i dont believe. as for powers right off the bat, i would say anything in the blaster category will be the most common. with blasters and wolverine wannabe's the most common types.
While flight may be a power wanted by a lot of players, you probably won't be able to get it until you're a pretty decent level. But I think the other travelling powers will be popular as well, like teleporting, leaping and speed.
Getting Flight at the begining will be a nono.....you can get it if you want....but....every thing you try to kill will woop your ass. Its a true fact. the first stage of flight wont get you high enough so you can be out of arms reach. I would go for a better fighting skill like speed....for hitting faster....or super streanth....for hitting harder. You can also use more on the magical power side. Like ice bolts and flames...etc. But i feel that it would be to your best to start out with a melee. Quicker leveling at lower levels and magic wont be as good at the begining. You need to progress alot in that skill and its not good untill you do.
Actually how often you'll see certain powers depends on your level.
When you make your character, you choose your primary power set (ie Fire Blast or Ice Blast) and secondary power set (ie Fire Manipulation, Energy Manipulation). Then you get the option of picking 1 out of 2 possible starting powers from primary set, and you get 1 (iirc) secondary power from your set.
This means that at low levels, players will see alot of the same powers (not alot to choose from). As you go up in level, more powers will become available to you, you'll have a wider variety to choose from. Also the power pools will open up (you get the option to pick your first one startin at level 6, though you don't have to pick it), and on top of that, you get these little tokens called Enhancements, which you use to boost a power with specific things, so you may decide to make your Fire Blast do more damage, or your Shadow Kick have less recharge time. This means that people will upgrade the powers they like, and use those more often.
By the high level game, people will be using all sorts of different powers based upon which ones they like for their character. Someone might still be using a low level eyebeam shot because they like the effect and they've beefed it up enough to be effective at high level, while someone else might always just use their latest power.

Actually you can get all that info from looking at the screenshots and dev comments. Mostly by the screenshots, if you look at the archetype walkthroughs they show what powers the guys can pick from and whatnot.
I'd hate to ever break an NDA.

I thought that I heard that flight is gained at level 10. So I think at some point everyone gets to fly. They give you some kind of flying boots or something.

Well it being a power pool I believe you get to choose flight at lvl 6.

Everything Blurr wrote has been posted before somewhere else - IGN, Gamespot, here, etc...
