Originally posted by checkthis500 I don't think the Warrior-Priests are going to be able to heal at all. They might get a few self heals or something small, but in that article, Paul says "They fight in the front lines, and then are able to "bless" their friends"
I don't think this means heal, just because in almost every rpg I've ever played "bless" is far different than "heal" and no where in the article does it say "heal."
Since we still have 2 more classes, one could be more geared to healing.
I don't get what you mean. Preists are always the healers and their healing is always explained as the work of a divine god. In other words, healing is always blessing in ever Medevil RPG I've ever played. Paul does seem like the kind of person to pick his words accord to the RPG genre anyway, he's a Warhammer guy.
And Check, saying that the Bandit is an NPC because the article was only supposed to reveal 2 classes is just as far fetched as saying the bandit is a PC and the website just made an error.
The Bandit is most likely an NPC. Here's what I'm going by. This is something I found on one of the fansites.
"The Media pack they blasted out to multiple sites contained 8 named high resolution watermark free images.
The naming convention went roughly as follows:
Empire - Symbol
Empire - Statue of Sigmar
Empire - Career - Warrior Priest of Sigmar
Empire - Career - Bright Wizard
Empire - NPC - Bandit
Empire - Castle Wall
Empire - Temple of Sigmar - Exterior
Empire - Temple of Sigmar - Interior"
Since this media pack was from Mythic, I'd say they were pretty clear on what was a career and what was an npc. So whether "Bandit" is or isn't a career has yet to be said, but the picture is definitely of an NPC.
And here's why I'm saying that "Bless" is a way to talk about buffs rather than "Healing."
An excerpt from the Shaman career discription says, "With Waaagh! power blazing in his eyes, his spells can heal more wounds or empower his allies to achieve feats of unbelievable destruction. "
The fact that they directly say "heal more wounds" about the career as opposed to when they described the warrior priest as:
"The Warrior-Priest is expected to be at the front, smashing things to pieces, and then when he's finished doing that, or if it's reasonable for him to, he can go back and bless others so they can go forward and fight people, and smash things to pieces. He's all about fighting things, and helping other people (through blessings) to fight things."
If you notice, the blessings are described as a way to "Help others to fight things." Now I guess you could make the argument that healing someone is helping them to fight things, but this sounds like it's talking about buffs since it says helping other people "Through Blessings" to fight things. It sounds to me like the Priest is going to be buffing and fighting.
I think they would have said something about helping others stay alive or reviving or healing if they meant for the priest to be a healer.
I'm just saying that his main role isn't Healer/Fighter. It's Buffer/Fighter.
EDIT: Just so I can double-post. Here's what the WAR site says under the "Armies" section:

So it looks like right now there is no Bandit class listed.
Yeah but it's a fansite. They probably are just speculating too. I haven't seen names like that only any other website, offical or fan so I think that's their own work based on their own sepculation. I can't realy argue if you disagree but the evidence is stacked against it.
I still think that Paul(the guy they interveiwed, representive of GW and seems to now be the unoffical media go-to for WAR) doesn't pick his words too carefully. He's not realy an MMO kind of guy. But I still can't argue if you think differently.
Also, if you go with my guess that the website wasn't suposed to have that snippet on the bandit class then it would make sense for the offical site to not have it either.
I see what you're getting at about the website not supposed to have it, and that could be right, but then I wonder why the website was sent three pictures with a description of each picture, and apparently this "media pack" was sent to quite a few forums and fansites, all listing the bandit picture as an npc.
Still, you could be right about the snipet of information that they were supposed to leave out.
About the WP, yeah paul doesn't seem like he's one to pick his words carefully, but then again, everything he says when he's interviewed has to be OK'd by the people that allow the information to go out. I've seen interviews that were spliced and edited based on what he couldn't and could say.
I guess it's the fact that he never strays from "bless/blessings" that makes me quick to think "no healing" because if it were healing then the words would be used interchangeably.
Either way I'm sure we'll find out in due time. Whether they have heals or not, I'm sure they're not going to be the primary healing class that the Empire has.

Even if bandit is not a career I would expect something similar, something about guns. Would most likely be called an engineer. For the 4th one it's harder. Several of the iconic troops like Great Swords and Flagellants are a bit too close to Warrior Priest so my guess is Knight.

Maybe a preist would be more defencive and a Knight more offence? If the Empire is half magic, half tech though and we have our Magic Melle(The Preist) and our magic ranged(The Bright Wizzard) then would a tech melle not make sense for the last last class? So far the classes have been based on iconic larger than life troops*, what's the closest big, iconic, tech-like melle guy you can think of for the Empire?
*: Black Orcs. A Gobbo that can control Squigs. Ironbreakers and Engineers are common but iconic. Now Warrior Preists and Bright Mages.

Last time I checked there where not really any tech melee in warhammer, at least not in the empire army. They are all about guns, handheld and stationary. Closets you come is the Von Zeppel Steam Tank which has a group of engineers on it, some with close combat weapons (Man Catcher, Hook Halberd, Ball and Chain).
I would put Knight as defense and Warrior Priest as offense which is why I thought both greatswords and flagellants would be to close to Warrior Priest as they are also offense. But if we don't get a knight the a Greatsword is my second guess (Greatsword is a guy with a large 2h sword and plate armor.
"Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason."
I dunno. I'm thinking that with the skill tree system, and dwarf hammerers being able to become Slayers, I wouldn't be surprised to see Bright Mages have the ability to become a follower of a different school of magic.
Just wanted to clarify that this is not confirmed at all, Mythic hasn't committed to anything yet with slayers and it's totally possible they won't be allowed into the game for player use at all. Hopefully we'll see something substantial on the matter in the upcoming newsletter but for now, Slayers are totally up in the air.
