Poll: WoW and Feature Creep.

In the realm of computer programming there is a dreaded menace know as Feature Creep. This is the process of adding new things to software without regard to the original idea of the program and often without fixing old problems. This entity has destroyed many projects, both by making the product bloated and unreliable or by simply killing it in development due to costs.

With a new thing being considered or added to WoW almost ever 3 days do you think this is a sign that WoW is suffering Feature Creep.

WoW is so totally overrated. I don't understand why so many people are so hyped about it. There are  titles that promise to be much better.

Play on an RP server (if there are gonna be any), and join a good, professional guild. That's what I plan to do. Hopefully Blizzard will ban people from the RP servers that have names like "1_0WN_J00_B1ZATCH".

I think there are a couple different fans we're talking about, I may not cover them all, but here's a few to snack on.

The "I want a good mmo damnit!" crowd.  I just want an mmo that doesn't feel like work.  Something I can fall in love with and enjoy.  EQ didn't do it for me, UO did for a while, and daoc did it for a time.  I loved crafting on the beach in Shrouded Isles when it came out. (daoc)  However, levels 5-50 felt like a full time job.  I wanted to have fun!  Why did I do that!? So I could have fun in emain.... HAH!

The "I rulez at wc3 and you gunna sux die!" crowd.  I consider these the people that still think you need to run to a gold mine to collect gold.  Also the folks who are constantly thinking that wow will be a glorified battle.net, not to mention those people that think they can jump in and be l33tz0r th4n j00 b/c they feel that they're uber when they sp34k in #'s.  I think the majority of these people will go back to wc3 when they realize just what an mmo is.

The "what's an mmo, and why do I need to pay a monthly fee" crowd.  I think they'll be hooked.  Remember your first mmo? Still your first love huh?  Bloody mmo virgins.

I don't want to have to go to an rp server just to avoid "1_0WN_J00_B1ZATCH."  I say bring it on.  You may kick my arse-holio in wc3,  but you can taste my backstab. >)

Every mmo has it's share of teh noobley (you were one too ya know), perhaps some more than others, but I can still deal with it.

 

Probably the most fun I've had in an mmo, is RP'ing when everyone else is not.  If that doesn't make me look ub3r l337 I don't know what does.

 

Just my thoughts, I guess you can feel free to do what you do best; Tear 'em apart.

 

 

As far as creeping is concerned, and wow adding new material every 3 days, I'd hafta say it's totally dependent on the material added.  If they're trying to make the AI act better than it was created to there's going to be a problem.  If they make it so N.elves can't use guns at all, I'd say nbd.  We'd hafta know exactly what is going on to say.  Maybe they're changing colors around, perhaps they're re-doing a few quests b/c they realized the ai couldn't handle it.  We'll just hafta see.
