Wait...how the hell dose this qualify as a MMORPG? It seems more like an expensive chat room with "goals". Borning to me, but hey some people LIKE to spend 15 bucks a month for that kind of crap...Your pick. Just asking.

    Ummm i suppose its an MMORPG because theirs no such genre called a ECRWG.........yeah...............................

    There's only one problem with calling it an ECRWG...  there aren't a whole heck of a lot of goals in TSO.  However, there are a lot of strong role-playing communities.

    One of the nice things about TSO is that you can role play pretty much whatever you want without being limited by the genre of the game.  In many games you can only role play within the inherent limitations of what the game is about, but TSO isn't about ANYTHING.

    That's a hard thing for many people to resolve themselves to.  They don't really want to make their own fun or create their own goals.  If that's the type of person you are (or become after playing for however long - heh) then this is not the game for you, however, it does not make TSO inherantly a BAD game.  It just makes it less appealing to the masses.  However, it has a strong following of people who DO enjoy that more relaxed type of play.

    For some, it's not much more than a chatroom, but for many others it is a community filled with choices, games and player-set goals.  What's so wrong about filling that niche?  A lot of people who would never have considered online gaming are being brought into the MMORPG world through this.

    Look, all I'm saying is that the game dosn't sound that good! Spending 15 dollars a month for a chatroom sounds rediculous! And yes, I like Rping as much as the next person, but the game just looks boring!

    Since you keep talking about how boring it "looks" and you keep suggesting that it's $5 more a month than it actually is, it's obvious that you have never played this game.

    Why not download the trial from File Planet or stop talking about a game you know nothing about.  You might actually find TSO to be something you would enjoy, but you'd actually have to try it and KNOW what you're talking about to do so.

    I have played this game...and in my opinion it wasn't very fun.  However, it is terchnically a MMORPG.  An online game, with a significant # of people playing their "characters", in a persistant world, is an MMORPG...I think people think that only fantasy or spce themed games are mmorpg's...not true imho...XAldorimage

    TSO is an MMORPG - and I hate hearing biased opinions against the game from people who've never played.

    As Fyregoddess pointed out - the game is only $10 a month - because you have made such an idiotic mistake, it leads me to the conclusion you have no idea what you're talking about.

    I may not be as hardcore of a gamer as the rest of you, but I'm having way too much fun in TSO to care that it's "only a glorified chat room"

    I agree. How is this a MMORPG when every house is instanced to a maximum of 10-12 people?Even non-MMORPG online games allow simultaneous play for 40+ people.

    well you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

    Each house can have 18 people plus 8 roomies, that makes 25.

    I'm sure glad you've done your research before critisizing.

    Has anyone noticed how the people who think TSO is a bad game have never played it or looked into it?  In fact, they seem to have no idea what they're talking about.  Why bother trying to point out that they're wrong?

    As for why it's an MMORPG....well, let's look at what MMORPG is....

    MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online.  TSO has TONS of people who play it.  Also, it's an online game.  Fits that requirement.

    RPG = Roleplaying Game.  TSO has a HUGE roleplaying community.  Sure, lots of people don't roleplay, but enough do so that it is a substantial percentage of the people who play.

    Now, if MMORPG stood for "Monster-Mashing, Online, R___ (okay, so I'm braindead), Picture-filled Game" then TSO wouldn't fit because the point of TSO isn't to pointlessly kill random things.  If that's your type of game, there's not much point in playing online anyhow, is there?  Plenty of offline games you can do that in.

    *applauds* Emma and cray's posts on TSO. I couldn't have said it better.  I guess these posters who don't know what MMORPG stands for should really just go back to their hack and slay games and not bother commenting on something they just don't understand. They shouldn't be leaving any kind of post about a game they have never even so much as looked at. As for me, I've played lots of MMORPG's. Some I liked, some I didn't like, but I sure as heck gave them a try before I formed an opinion about them! image image

    I also had my doubts about this game b4 i played it and now i love this game..I also play SWG and DAOC and this game is a lot different from them.  It's different so if you dont like it dont play it but why are you posting on TSO forums...why even look at what other ppl write if you hate this game soo much?????

    Wow, your throw up must be really cool.  All animated and full of cool people.  You must also have a lot of red chunks since money is not hard to come by.
