I bought it at release, got to 20, got all my expensive armor, PvP'd some, helped other people ascend and quit playing because there wasn't anything else to do.
Is this game still PvP centric or have they added more PvE/gear?
Comments
However, Green items aren't better then Rare items, they just have unquie names and skins.
Did you really get all the best armor? That stuff is expensive as shit. Did you capture all your elites to maximize your build options? Did you achieve all your titles? If you did
Were you expecting uber gear and uber weapons for engaging in non-stop PvE? GW has never been about that. Have you tried Factions yet?
Heres a list of titles you can achieve in game, most of them are PvE titles:

I'm not sure where XeroKnight is coming from but I haven't slowed down at all. I have both campaigns and reached level 20 with both characters some time ago, but I still have a lot to do every time I log in. Then again, the game is about me having fun. I don't need a level indicator to show how uber I am. I guess it's all in what a person enjoys in a game.

As to the added content. Factions addes alot of new things for both PvP and PvE players alike.
They have added a couple of new areas to the core game as well. Check out guildwiki.org sometime and judge for yourself.

work, personal life etc) Im still enjoying GW from time to time, even
if its once a month. Gotta love no sub. Even if GW has slightly less
PvE and classic MMORPG content, theres still a lot of it, and the skill
hunting concept is just kickass. Its almost like farming purple items
in WoW. The only problem is instance resets - when i zone out for any
reason (forgot an item required to complete the quest...etc), the
instance ive been working through is full of mobs once again and I
gotta redo it all. Kinda annoying. Should put a short timer, like 3-5
minutes for reset. But other then this small inconvenience (and lack of
free movement at times) GW is a complete skill based MMO with lots of
PvP and PvE content. Sometimes, I login to just watch PvP matches. Very
interesting. Oh and did I meantion no sub fee???
I am the type of player where I like to do everything and anything from time to time.

I got GW as a gift and I really really wanted to like it since I was pretty bored with WoW and was looking for something to break up my EVE gametime.
While I liked the look of the game I really hated the click to move and general way you moved around. The world was mostly empty and very few people (if any) ever stopped to answer your questions or help out. Very little sense of community even after playing this for a few weeks. While I agree I ran into some features that were very unique/interesting there just wasn't enough "glue" to keep me coming back. I tried to do some online research and couldn't even find a decent user guide and the 'starting out' guide they have on the webpage is useless.
Anyways I was really looking forward to finding a good game after the disappointments of AO, AC, DnL and TSoR but at least for me GW wasn't it.
b4 i give my opinion i just want to sayto nnyan that your not fooling any one with that awnser because half the things you stated are utter crap! First gw aint a click and move game u can mov via : w,a,s,d all 4 arrow buttons and click to go most populer in pvp being w,a,s,d so right hand if free to click ur moves ! so dont comment just to make out uv played top mmos because ur fooling no 1! and as for no 1 their go to places like kaineng center where you have 5 jam packed servers ! go to droks forge lions arch or ascalon and you will see 100s of people ! Well in gw most people will help outhers will want you to join their guild to help ! and alliances are brillinat for helping people makeing money ect !
Ok i have been playing gw sicne about xmas time and i havnt looked at anouther game in the same way ! gw is a master peice keeps you their for hours since xmas i have only managed to fully unlock all the warrior skills monk and ele ! and i aim to unlock all 10 once nightfall comes out ! i have fully completed gw and gwf killing shiro and the linch ! 100% tyria on my warrior rank 9 friend of kurzicks i currently have 34 glad points ect ect! and have won at the hall of heros twice with my guild and alliance! factions i have killed shiro explored 72 % and im still going this game is a 1 of a kind best mmorpg out their for me !
so when you ask is this game rilly that great? I say yes and more!
Start doing GvG
To Nnyan: I'll bet you played the first chapter, Prophecies, and you just played in Pre-Searing and the Ascalon region. And you're right, currently those regions are jam packed with former MMO vets that probably solo'd a bit too much and don't use the local chat for anything other than spammin WT S, WT B, and no one answers even a simple question. It's irritating as hell, isn't it? When I played WoW, I don't remember taling to ANYONE except for 1) the two times I got into a PUG, 2) the three friends I already knew before I started playing, and 3) one line Q&A. I never ever saw any just random chat. It was like people wanted to pretend it was a single player game where they could sell stuff to other players. I go back to GW shortly after that and I spark a random conversation in about every third city/outpost, regardless of the time of night or the place. I did a little Q&A in Kaineng Center and got talking about how a Sword Ranger works. Maybe I just never got into the right area in WoW, but I felt more alone in that game than I've EVER felt in GW. But, I think EVE does have the advantage of longer range chat, which does help a lot. Same goes for CoH/CoV.

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
Yes, This game really is that great.
From the code to the game play, its tops.
Has the price for the game gone down now that the supplement is out? I relly like NCSoft COH and COV, these are 2 qaulity games from a company from asia (NCsoft is an asian company right?) considering the truck loads of crap that come from many of Korean and Taiwan companies NCSoft appears to have there heads on straight. Tha being said, besides grinding and PVP does GW have crafting and other things to do? The thing I hated about WOW was the way Blizzard did what they did in diablo, "Oh, your getting bored with you high level toon? We will just throw out some more pretty uber crap you will ned to kill the big Zot to get." WOW begcame a game with a huge arms race, is GW like this or can you have fun and compete on some level by not always having to do 3 hour instances? Also, I see the min sys req is 800 mHz, who well would it run on a 933mHz with 512 megs and 256 meg radeon vid card?
GW doesn't have any player crafting. Pretty much you take the mats to a NPC and then pay them to make what armor you want. That's about it.
No there isn't an arms race in GW. There is very little difference stat wise from what is called 1.5k and 15k gear. Even the Uber gear isn't really that much better stats wise. Instead players play to find different looking gear and dyes to make the gear look different.
The game is about skill not gear.
Your system should run it fine.

the reason i really like this game is becose your atribute setings , profession combo and the weapon stats you chose make a huge influence on your performance.
you have endless combinations of weapon stats , like hammer with light dmg , fire staff with improves ilusion cast speed , etc etc etc
you can build a skill set , profession combo and weapon stats , really unique and still powerfull in its own task.
with 10 professions , 2 profession combos , each profession as 4 to 5 fields of atributes
weapons have a main stats and can have 2/3 mobs
the possible combinations of stats are huge

this gibberish talk about balance = stagnant if progression is stagnant.
Edit:
So I guess you are a level grind zombie who thinks getting to level 20 = end of the game? Or did you unlock every single skill and try out every single possible build? Because I know you haven't.
For me this is what GW is all about. It is what makes it shine. No other RPG gives you the kind of character freedom and just plain tons of significantly differnt possibilities that GW does. Their change to unlimited free respecs was a great move. They understand their game and aren't afraid to do their own thing instead of lock everything down like other RPGs (I'm niot even talking about MMORPG, almost all RPGs are highly restrictive in that regard).
The rest of the game is pretty good, pretty solid, on par with the rest of the market, but I wouldn't say above it. But the class and skill system is what's great.
I'm posting my view on GW.
The game is unique. You are not bound to a level threadmill or a grind system if you want to have fun, search on Wikipedia to understand more about these terms, basically they are want make you "work" months in-game and pay months just to reach the fun part you think there is.
GW has no need for monthly fees because there is no real need to exploit players' pockets as there is no mechanism that makes you play the game forever just because you wish to level X. You play because you want and there it stops.
People farm because they like, they want to have money because they like it. People avoid farming because they don't like it and jump right into PvP because they like it. In GW this is possible, you do what you like, being pointless to charge monthly fees as other games do. That's why I like this game, you are doing what you like, not preparing to do what you like. I hope you can understand it.
PvP was never supposed to be an end-game, just an other path of playing. On other games you might find yourself paying for power leveling or grinding through a threadmill on what you call PvE just to reach PvP. Few people like PvE from GW because it does not make you feel like you HAVE to play, instead you feel like you LIKE to play, and most people aren't used with this different ideology. People will like it, people won't like it. There is no perfect game for everyone, but this is the perfect game for me.
This goes against my better judgment, but here we go.
This post really doesn't make much sense since it's your opinion and you didn't bother to say why you feel this way. But, you did feel the need to flame others for calling you out on that point. Which included this statement:
My. Name calling. How quaint. I am forced to believe that you either don't actually have a point or that you think you're so much better informed/smarter than us that explaining your original statement would be a waste of your time. So, I looked up the word Stagnant and found the following definition from here.
I've heard this particular argument before, actually, and I'm willing to bet that the definition that you're using is likely 3a. To me, this means that you're complaining about the level cap of 20 in Guild Wars. Which, to me, shows that you have a VERY narrow imagination or you didn't play the game for very long.
This is because character development in Guild Wars, unlike any other online RPG, is based entirly upon the player and NOT how many levels you grind out. I've got a Ranger that I started from about a week after release of Prophecies. He hit level 20 about 2 months later (and that's slow as heck). Since then, I've been changing what I do with him, what skills I use, changed his equipment, and have become generally a powerful player. I can usually outlast "Tanks" when I'm using my Sword build. Why is this? Because I spent so much time with my character that I've learned a huge amount of tricks and I've learned a better way of timing things. If I understand that stuff better than the player standing next to me, I'm going to perform better in the long run. Which is exactly what Guild Wars was designed for, player skill over everything else.
You say that "Balance = Stagnant". I think you don't understand the game.
