Ok guys i know it's not near at the end of the year yet but On the MMO that is already release this year which 1 would you say deserves the award for MMO of the year?
oh man.... 1 single decent mmorpg out there, really, Things don't look too good in the future as well.... I guees Now is wait for bioware project, or raph's new game in 5-6 years or so hehe... hummmm or a pre-cu swg emulador/SOE clasic server... hummmm or a ultima online 3d? (hehe I doubt that they would be able to make it without the old devs)...... oh well, I guees I will just quit PC games, when the PS3/Wii comes out
Damn now that people mention it I can't think of one single MMORPG that was worth a damn this year.. Thats like the first in a while for me...
But im thinking The Chronicles of Spellborn will be a suprise hit if its realease by the end of the year...It will bring something into the MMORPG world that is really not out there atm and that is FPS style combat and a game that is not centered around what gear you have on.

First off, I hope the OP was talking about the best of all MMO's in 2006 and not just MMO's that were released in 2006. My apologies if I mistakenly interpreted the OP.
Well the thing that makes an MMO great for me is the community. With that said, then I would have to go with Saga of Ryzom for that reason. I havnt played anywhere near all the mmo's on the market but of the ones I have played, it has arguably one of the best communities. Couple that community with the company and the CSR staff that run the game and it's the hands down winner for me. Perhaps a bit too 'carebear-esque' for some, but it only becomes that way if you allow/want it to.
With my personal opinion aside, I think a sizeable group of people would agree that some of the older MMO's (Eve, AO, etc) still pwn a lot of the newer ones because of the communities they retain.
I say something that's coming out at the last minute. Like Yullgang. Seems appropriate enough considering it's numbers in Asia (released there before 2006 though?).
I hope the devwlopers and companies have seen after 2006 we do not want any wow clones but sadly with games like Auto Assault and DnD kinda stinking it up im afraid thats all we will see for atleast 3 more years I would have to agree with the other guys though Guildwars would get my vote for this yearatleast you can log onto it and still have some fun.
I hope that some good MMOs will be released, many guys are chit-chatting about games that are 'great', like WAR and Vanguard, I want to see the results first. It would be great if none MMO could win because there were to many good ones.
I can only think of only three MMORPGs that went live in 2006 and got at least 10,000 subscribers. Those are Auto Assault, Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Rising Force Online. None of those can not compete with some of the current popular MMORPGs.
If it came down to those three nominated, i would choose Rising Force Online. It shares similar stuff to Lineage 2, but the Chip Wars it provides every 8 hours is a great event for the Accretians, Bellato, and Cora to fight for control over the Crag Mines.

At this time, I'd have to say...
Honorable Mention (3rd Place): Face of Mankind.
Runner up (2nd Place): Roma Victor.
MMO of the Year (1st Place): Silkroad Online.

Not really. I enjoyed ArchLord more then any MMO title released in 2006.
