I agree WOW is the pits. The only thing I can say is that with all the years its been in developement you really should'nt need that many programmers.

As long as it doesn't cost me money, i am willing to give them credit of faith.

I remeber DnL trying to sell expensive pre orders.

So i would not compare this shady behaviour with the actual Aventurine project .

There is no loss for me, i am registed for clan beta for a very long
time and if they are ready to open the doors we will be there.

If this will happen never, well we had no loss in this.

I vote for a punishment point system for people that destroy topics with endless discussions about WoW ;)

Me too... but seriously WoW is a great game. Because of : gameplay, graphics, sound, lore, etc... It is the design change on the course who pissed off many players. Blizzard betrayed us, it's just fact. We were offered something we were not asking for image (aka endless and meaningless grind, lore destruction by allowing shamans and paladins to cross factions, etc...)

About Darkfall, I hope they will success. They have very good ideas, but it will be very hard to perfectly balance skills/spells/npcs.

WoW isnt popular just because of thier advertising budget.  Its because the game overall is almost perfect and they have a history of making top of the line games.  Sure it might not fit everyones play styles, and maybe you dont agree with the type of game it is.  But each part of the game is awesome and well made.  There are extremely few bugs compared to other games, the gameplay works great, interface is good, and the characters/abilities are very balanced.

To say WoW is a simple game is a joke.  High end raiding is extremely complex, which is why so many people have such a difficult time.  In fact an arguement can be said that its too difficult requireing 40 man elite teams to complete, which excludes most of the players.  Only real way to beat the encounters is to duplicate what others have done, using guides and strategy of others.  The people that complete them the first time are the top 1% of the playerbase, and they spend tons of time trying to figure it out.  Surely thats not considered simple.

Basically WoW is a hardcore PVE'ers paradise.  It never claimed to be a hardcore PVP game.  I just wish that Bizzard would make a new MMO devoted to PVP, then you would see another awesome game.

WoW is popular because Blizzard has a reputation of making quality games.  They have a better reputation then any game developer I can even think of, so much so that they are in a league of thier own.  They also have a good reputation of pumping out awesome expansions.

The size and the money of a company is not the deciding factor, for a good game. It is just the factor how much advertise is around for the game.

Me thinks you're wrong also, the developers of EvE could never have made a game like WoW. Money is always the deciding factor in game development.

EvE does so well because there's no competition but if a company like Blizzard ever decided to create a Sci-Fi MMO then EvE would soon die like all the Fantasy games that are dying in the wake of WoW.

    WTF has everyone smoked?

Blizzard can't make anything original at all when it comes to MMORPG games. WoW is the most stereotypical mainstream boring grindfeast kiddy adventure I have ever seen.

Money ain't worth SHIT compared to skilled designers and programmers who knows HOW TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. QFT

That's the only thing WoW does to be "hard" or "complicated".

WoW is about time. Time owns everything just as items rules the PvP... which I think is incredibly boring. There's no sandboxing or any elements at all that indicated that teh game deserves to be the no#1 played mmorpg.

The only reason why so many play it is because there are so many inexperienced players playing it who doesn't know any better or havent tried anything better before. Then we have the elements of "friend-to-friend" communicating that spreads through the world. People just play it because some other they know play it.

Take anyone who had Star Wars Galaxies as their first MMORPG. Theese people have seen the potencial of a game you HAVE TO PAY FOR EACH MONTH!!! I don't see ONE reason to pay for WoW since it has EVERYTHING!!!!!! most free-games have out there. And they can even compete at do much of the stuff better than WoW.

So I hope for everything's sake this game, Darkfall won't be vaporware. It sounds too promising, but let's appriciate the EFFORT!

Almost perfect, lol, GTFO out fanboy. Each part of the game is awesome? lol, lets see... the quests, oh joy - kill 5 bats, collect 10 tails...man, that is awesome! The end game? Trying to form a party for 30mins+, raiding the some fn dungeon 20 times over for the odd chance of an epic dropping for my class, and me winning the roll on it - awesome! The PVP - i kill someone, they are in my face 30 seconds later, awesome! High end raiding is BORING, LINEAR and REPETITIVE - it isn't fun, it's a chore! The quests are boring and simple, the crafting is crap, PVP is a joke, PVE - suits the carebears and MMORPG noobs.

I see posters for WOW and the Intro movie playing in cinemas. Do any other MMORPG's have that?

And man, if you think waiting in a queue to play a grindfest is a quality game, you have very low standards.

I think that the leveling was very compelling, and above all, extremley easy to get into, but when the game turned into raiding and PvP grinds, WoW turned bad.

I completely agree with this, I have played WoW, and i have done all the raiding and such, and as a 40 man 'elite' team, the goal is effeciency, which entails only a few spells. why on earth would an elemental shaman raid? oh really they do? 2% of the shaman population i say :) not only is the endgame restricting simply becuase of the popular consensus of which talent lines and spells are the most favored, but also Blizzards extreme thirst to please these people, by installing high end gear only build for certain specs. why would a feral druid strive for a resto druids set?
Beyond all of that, what's really telling, is how much content Blizzard has pumped into its world, yes, it's more then the majority of other games, i completely admit that, but it's almost all been exclusively high-end content! they've added BWL, ZG, AQ20-40, and Naxx, what else have they added? oh yes, maradaun -.-
even before you say "but they have patches nearly every 2-weeks!" which they do, i admit, but the largest and most anticipated things blizzard will implement are massive overhauls on each of their classes talent point systems, which to be honest, should have been set before the game was made, so they could move unto new things, and although the pursuit of balance is a virtue in these gaming worlds, and it's valued in a MMO producer, balancing things that are already out is not an excuse for moving the game forward.
Basically WoW is a hardcore PVE'ers paradise.  It never claimed to be a hardcore PVP game.  I just wish that Bizzard would make a new MMO devoted to PVP, then you would see another awesome game.
    Blizzard fanboy FTW.
I have to say, that previous blizzard games were not only excellent, but industry breaking, and although i do not really enjoy WoW, i must admit i loved star and warcraft, as well as diablo.

WoW is popular because Blizzard has a reputation of making quality games.  They have a better reputation then any game developer I can even think of, so much so that they are in a league of thier own.  They also have a good reputation of pumping out awesome expansions.
I agree with this, 100% true they are very well known for their valued games, like i stated earlier, their groundbreaking RTS franchises + diablo (diablo II in particular) really leaves them open and loved in the gaming community, on top of that, though they weren't as invested in online play as other rising franchises at the time, such as... everquest, battle.net was, and still is a very strong set of servers, and widely accepted and beloved by online gamers around the world.
I'd say it's a combination of their warcraft franchise + all their advertising. I see posters for WOW and the Intro movie playing in cinemas. Do any other MMORPG's have that?
Not only this, but WoW has a way of really pulling in all types of crowds, it's EXTREMELY easy to jump into. above that, MMORPG's are, beleive it or not, still in their infancey, and do not represent a collosal amount of profit in terms of video games as a whole, a friendly and trusted name, like blizzard really brought MMOs to life.
Now i would have to say that SWG was going to do this, in fact, it was expected to do it, SoE had alot of pressure to pull it off, but they fumbled, and badly, which really opened the door for Blizzard as the next most trusted thing.

And man, if you think waiting in a queue to play a grindfest is a quality game, you have very low standards.

Good god, no one's going to read your point by point talkback. just say your peace in a coherant argument or not at all. Talk about filler for the sake of it...

WoW is popular because it's like Counter Strike, it appeals to non gamers, which doesn't happen very often. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!

You can't compare these games because it's like apples and organes. Darkfall isn't trying to get the nongamer community, GET OVER IT.

i don't expect anybody to read my 'point by point' talkback, except for the person i'm talking back to, and if they don't care to read responses to what they said, then they aren't passionate enough about it to have validly posted in the 1st place :)

Your posts? lol Yes, im stalking you...i want your body baby! Hey wait, didn't i post in this thread before you, infact, your first post in this thread was a reply partially directed at me...wow, maybe you want me too! image

Another hint for you, if your going to make idiotic posts like the one in the general forming claiming that small companies have a 1% chance of making a decent game and that people that work for these companies are 'dumb' then of course i'm going to come off "angry", comprende?

As for kordrial, i don't really have much more to add to our discussion (or flames if you will) as much as i hate WOW you made some very relevant points, most of which i agree with.
