I'm not a fan of BF2 and this game was basically that with a new gameplay mode and new skins. Don't expect anything different tbh.
It's do you like the modern combat look or the Sci fi look?

Yea, I have BF2, its alright. Never got into it.
I also tried WW2 Online. All I did there was run, run, and more running to get to the battle.
I am presently playing Call of Duty 2 multiplayer. Basically, thats like quake in WW2 uniforms. It is fun to relieve frustrations, though.

I played the Fileplanet beta, but wasn't impressed. I think that BF2142 should have been a mod for BF2. It's the same engine, same quality graphics, with a few different features.
I'm not buying it out of pure hatred for EA Games. After what they did to BF2, I have no intention of going through it again with BF2142.

They ruined BF2 through patching. A small percentage of players went on to forums and started complaining non-stop about how they didn't like aspects of the game. They didn't like these aspects because they kept losing because of them. EA/Dice caves and caters to the desires of the 'carebear' population.
Then patching grinded to a near stand-still. EA/Dice didn't patch bugs and crashing/compatibility issues for months because they were busy working on BF2142. They abandoned existing projects, with existing players, so they could move on to their next big money-scheme. When they get a new project they'll probalby stop developing BF2142.
Stopping development wouldn't be bad, if they didn't break/ruin things through patching beforehand. They dig themselves a hole and then move on because there is no more money there.

I am still upset about EnB being shut down.

EA is getting damn close to including spyware with their games. BF2142 will have in-game advertising that includes datamining, such as gathering your IP address and 'other anonymous data'. This is all on a piece of paper that comes with the retail version of 2142. I have no desire to purchase anything from EA anytime soon, but this would not please me, if I were purchasing BF2142.
The warning at the bottom of this card is the best part.
It sounds like it is only mining data collected, while you play BF2142 online. I'm waiting for EA to comment and clarify on the purpose and intent of this additional software.

But anyway, I've downloaded the demo as well. I like the game a lot so far, and I think it has a lot of potential. Seems to support squad play more than BF2, which is good. If you can get a good one going, I see good things happening.

I am a video game freak. mmorpg's are my favorite. Presently, I have no game to play. CoH bored me, EQ2 I quit because this girl I know in RL wanted to get serious with me and Auto Assault was a joke. So maybe its time to play FPS games, I dont know.
I have played just about every top mmorpg there is. Between work and my house, there just doesnt seem to much time to play anymore. I am even considering Eve Online (which I did play for around 4 months when it was released)
Yeah, FPS's are the way to go lol. I use to like MMORPGs, but each day I realize that I really don't more and more. I think I'll probably stick with multiplayer RPGs on the scale of Diablo 2, Neverwinter Nights, etc. I want to control who I'm playing with lol.
FPS's can take up just as much time as MMORPGs, but the 'need' to play isn't there, unless you're competitive. MMORPGs are turning more into obligations than entertainment lol.

Though I'm also thinking of going back to eve. Have played probably around 2 years total, though in pieces. Thinking about going back again soon to check out Kali.

I couldn't get the demo to run on my first try (it was a exciting 5 foot run until I got a good view of my desktop). Seeing this data miner crap and not to mention I didn't particularly like Bf2 which it seems to be directly related to, I don't think I'll even bother trying to get it to run.
With how popular Spore is bulilding up to being, maybe someone will make a workaround if they do it to that. Although I don't think attempting to screw around with Wright's work would be the smartest move for EA, I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Battlefield does Planetside.

I played and enjoyed it for a night. I can't imagine actually buying it. Especially not for £35.
