Excuse me, we are talking about MYTHIC here. DAOC was FAR from complete.
WoW on the other hand is known to be THE most complete MMO.
Ofcourse Warhammer has better graphics, it will be released 2 years after WoW. go look up Aion, Granado Espada or Age of Conan and see how MMO's of that era should look like.
Exuse me, we are talking about WAR here, not DAoC. If you want to argue that DAoC looks like WoW, be my guest.
thats not what I said, read again. my point was that Mythic has a horrible past when it comes to delivering complete games.
Aion looks like Guildwars, nuff said.

in terms of graphics, it blows WAR out of the water. you don't know anything about the rest of the game, you didn't play it.
WAR looks more like AoC than it does WoW anyway.
Seriously, put on your glasses.
WAR's graphics are tunned down a little for RvR, while AoC goes all out(I'm still iffy on the lag you are going to get with AoC, it looks like 1 a minute to me) but if you stick Orcs, Dwarves and Chaos into AoC, you would pretty much have WAR with lotts of snazzy effects which my computer probably couldn't render anyway.
Granado Espada also features big pvp. in fact, GE lets you control 3 characters instead of 1, which means 3x the amount of characters on the screen, yet it blows WH's graphics out of the water. I'll let you think about that one for a while.
If you want to see what an MMO of WoW's era should of looked like than take a look at CoH or FFXI. They came out BEFORE WoW and they did not have to recycle graphics.

It is still too early to pass a judgment on WAR. To consider if it will be a 30- days game such as WoW/DAoC/SoR/Horizons/EQ2...or if it will be a long lasting experience, in which case they have to beat CoV. Since even if I left CoV, this is my referrence and the game I keep going back to, when I need a MMO fix and can't find anything new.

You are SORELY mistaken if you think that WoW/WAR and Aion, Granado Espada, and Age of Conan are in completely different eras of MMO history. They aren't even more than 10 years apart!
And on the topic of looking just like WoW, don't forget that Lineage II looks just like... Lineage!!!
For Christ's sake people, if you're guna judge an MMO based on how much it looks like another one, you might as well just ignore it.
The themes of WAR will appeal a very different kind of player, just as WoW's style appeals to its own players (fans of a more cartoonish style). Personally, I'd take WAR's more mature appearance over WoW's anyday. But please... for God's sake... just stop trying to use comparisons as leverage to degrade the game. If you yourself haven't tried the game, whether at a demo booth or during beta, then you really have no right to judge the game, period.

The most infamious quest I know of so far in WAR is 'Kill ten vultures' but I like it because of the text. See, you're a new Orc trying to join a large warband and said warband has just slaughtered a bunch of Dwarves. The boss doesn't like birds picking at his 'trouphies', so he sends you to kill ten of them and then shave the beards of the dwarves at prizes. And I'm not talking Vultures placed by Dwarves, they actualy do the pecking animation on the the bodies. The graphics aren't advanced enough to have them tear off peaces(something like that would lag like hell in RvR) but I still think it's pretty 'meaningful'.
All right

I don't know. That sounds good an all but I don't trust promises about a game until I see an example of it in gameplay. I don't like how secretive the AoC devs are being. Most of their news seems to be 'OMGZERS GRAFIX' or 'OMGZERS ANIMATION' or 'OMGZERS YOU CAN ACTAULLY SWING YOUR SWORD'. No offence intended, it just looks iffy to me.

I can understand that, their stated reason is that they don't want to build up too much hype untill closer to release. I'm confident that they will deliver, but I guess we will have to wait till Beta to know for sure.

I see finished art, I see bloom effects. I see a PvE game being compared to mass PvP game. I also see a game finished development and a game entering it. I also see a game who's only hyping point right now is 'OMG GRAPHICS' and 'OMG WINGS' compared to a game focusing on gameplay, lore and environment. Not just how shinny the environment is but how much interesting stuff can be loaded into it.
Lotts of Eastern games are pretty. Lotts of them are also mostly Lineage clones.
I'm sorry, but which games are you actually comparing?

Based on the contextand his previous posts, I'm going to guess:
"I also see a game who's only hyping point right now is 'OMG GRAPHICS' Age of Conan and 'OMG WINGS' Aion compared to a game focusing on gameplay, lore and environment." Warhammer
I'm going to have to disagree with him about the hyping points on both AoC and Aion, but still.

Sorry, I thought that was Aion but still alot holds true. Before I ever start, it's hard to argue against AoC because pretty much nothing is known about it. But to start off you have PvE game vrs a PvP game. It's not as competetive and so laggg is more tollerable by player base. And also, AoC is coming out next Spring while WAR ust entered development. You can bet AoC didn't look like that when it entered development.
I don't see why you are so obsesed with graphics anyway. Do you loo kat movies and go 'Oh, those were shot with the same style lenses! THEY ARE THE SAME!'

Not to be a nitpicker, but AoC is both PvE and PvP. they even separated the XP, skill trees, death penalties, and equipment tables. You can easily do both, or just one.

oh noes, two twats arent gonna be playing WAR? shit, WARs gonna really miss you.
and anyone else who is influenced so easily, dont play either.
for those with intelligence and the ability to do some searching around the internet and look at screenies / official videos(when some come out, not the ones on youtube as they arent good quality) then youll agree its nothing compared to WoW. you dont need to pve to gain levels or exp, you cant be one shotted by someone 10 levels higher than you, and this game will require skill.
oh, and about the gfx.. how do you expect them to design the warhammer world in another way? this is the perfect design and mythic is doing a great job. i personally hated WoW, and this game will shit all over it.

The screens and video's posted ARE official video's meant to PROMOTE the game, and they look EXACTLY like WoW. require skill? Gee, I wonder what will require more skill, Age of Conan's twitch based gameplay, or WAR's old hit 1-2-3- key system.
erm.. they are not offical videos of game play. There are some interviews with people who work for mythic and gameplay videos that are captured on camera of somebody playing the game, which makes it poor quality. if they were there to promote the game they would be on the actual WAR website, which they are not.
where were the hell did i say AoC didnt require skill? we are talking about WoW and WAR here.. read the title please... i know a shit load of people who are going to play AoC because itll be a decent game, but all of them will be switching to WAR once its released.

No, the game is next to him while he speaks, hes not showing off the game play. just because you can see it from a distance doesnt mean its an official gameplay video. and you cannot tell from that angle of the more detailed graphics, and more indepth storyline, and more adventure etc. so its pretty pathetic to judge a game that you think is a WoW clone by seeing a few minutes of unofficial shitty footage.
WAR isnt suppose to be a purely PvP game. it has all aspects, PvE, PvP, RP.. its attracting everyone.. so again, stop talking about games you have no idea about.
Heck, i could go and slag off asian games i dont know stuff about at first glance. "shit, i dont want to play some 14 yr old kid, thats just wrong.. you people are paedos" want me to go on? i could go into 5 minutes of research about all the games on your sig and find countless number of gameplay views i think are shit and clones of other games. how would you defend them? because you would
you come on here everyday, to what? slag off games like WAR? so you can stop 1 or 2 idiots from playing it? 4k over 2 years? thats a lot of posts.. what really makes you think people want to hear your opinion all the time? one or two valid points against a game is fair enough, but when you start talking about shit you have no idea on it goes beyond pathetic. go play these great 3rd gen asian games

Vanity in video games? Jesus, what's next?
The themes of WAR will appeal a very different kind of player, just as WoW's style appeals to its own players (fans of a more cartoonish style). But please... for God's sake... just stop using it as leverage to knock the game. If you yourself haven't tried the game, whether at a demo booth or during beta, then you really have no right to judge the game, period.
WoW is of the previous wave of MMO's,, Aion and Grenado Espada are of the second. Both of them show a HUGE increase in graphics. WAR doesn't. L2 doesn't look like Lineage,at LEAST do some research first.
AoC won't have a single "kill X mob of type Y" quest, not a single one, that is the difference people are pointing out. However, I personally won't mind them in the scenario presented, IF thats in the minority.
Meaningful quest material FTW
Please provide your sources for non-AoC fans.
All right
"NPC's won't treat you differently if you've been rude to someone else, but they might change their attitude towards you if you have failed a task given by someone they care about. We'll have all sorts of quests in Conan. A big chunk of our time has been spent on deep, immersive and epic quests that tell the tales of the world, putting the players in the focus of the storyline and the action. At the moment we're ramping up the production of smaller quests. But we put a lot of effort into these small adventures as well, because our goal is that all our quests should have well written, interesting stories and exciting gameplay. However, that doesn't mean that everything must be epic or very dramatic."

Theres another quote that says it more directly, but its buried somewhere that I cant find it at the moment.
No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Who needs glasses? Go look at the screenshots again. And also remember that Aion and GE are done just not translated but WAR is still in production.

THEY ARE THE SAME!'

oh noes, two twats arent gonna be playing WAR? shit, WARs gonna really miss you.
and anyone else who is influenced so easily, dont play either.
for those with intelligence and the ability to do some searching around the internet and look at screenies / official videos(when some come out, not the ones on youtube as they arent good quality) then youll agree its nothing compared to WoW. you dont need to pve to gain levels or exp, you cant be one shotted by someone 10 levels higher than you, and this game will require skill.
oh, and about the gfx.. how do you expect them to design the warhammer world in another way? this is the perfect design and mythic is doing a great job. i personally hated WoW, and this game will shit all over it.
erm.. they are not offical videos of game play.
