I'm not really into real metal, but I'd say Slayer out of those.

All of these metal fanboi topics are making my dick soft. Enough of this already. There is no "best" "real" metal band. I'll say Disturbed is the best. (Flamebait ftw)

YES
DT ROCKS...it is so rare to bump into someone IRL who has even heard of them.
As long as I am talking about them, on their last tour, their appearance in Salt Lake coincided with me going on terminal leave after spending 10 years in the Air Force. I hadn't seen them since before I entered the military and was stoked to see them along with separating from the military.
Well, as fate would have it, a major snow storm hit the SL area, and their trucks couldn't get there in time for the show. They had to go right through because the had a show to do the next night in Reno.
That was the most bummed out I had been in a while
For the next tour, I don't care if I have to go out of state...im gonna see them.

You're an idiot.
Iron Maiden - traditional
Judas Priest - traditional
Megadeth - thrash
Slayer - thrash
Iced Earth - power
Death - death
Blind Guardian - power
Dragonforce - power
Suffocation - death
Mayhem - black
In retrospect, yeah, I should have put Dream Theater (progressive, for the record) on there. Oh well.
I think it is cool that Blind Guardian was there, so I doesn't have to click on Iron Maiden in that list! Pretty rare I click on something that isn't Iron Maiden when it is a Metal topic...usually the groups I listen to aren't there. Like, Dream Maker wouldn't be on anyone list...so, have to find alternatives.
There could have been a punk-metal group as well I guess. Hehe.

I like classic metal guns n' roses will always be #1 in my heart.
I like Winger, Poison, Cinderella, Rush, Boston, Led Zepplin, Cream, ZZ top, Pearl Jam, Ted Nugent, Primus, Latoya Jackson, Madonna, Judy Garland, Neil Diamond.
I pick Iced Earth. All those other band names scare me.
I have always had a fascination with ice though. I mean, the way water crystallizes and expands when it freezes. It's amazing. I wonder if anyone has figured out why that happens yet.
I am going to have to vote Iced Earth for that reason. Because of the mystery of ice.

Yeah, I gotta agree with the above.
And someone above mentions GnR. If Axl wasn't such a Fn Ahole, they would have gone down as one of the greatest bands in music history....well they already have, I just dont think they realized their full potential.
If Use Your Illusion had taken the best of both albums and combined it into one, It would have been widely regarded as one of the best albums EVER...not THEE best..too much good shit out there for that...but ONE of the best...IMO.

Did they get their name after visiting an IMax?
