I was thinkin about starting with nightfall, but i wanna get the "inside jokes" and know whats goin on. So if I started out with Factions would I get those things?

Don't do that. Factions it the worst one of the three, you will only get a bad feeling of it. And there aren't any "inside jokes" worth of knowing about.
Do you think it is woth my money to get Factions just for the ritualist profession, because that profession looks pretty awesome, but from what i heard the game isnt awesome so i dunno if i shud get it.
Also it seems the faction characters look asian, and the Nightfall characters look african or arabic. If i bought Nightfall could i make my character look asian, or factions and make my character look african/ arabic?

Nope, you can't. Looks depend on where the character is "born", and with Nightfall you don't have access to Cantha and vice-versa.
Originally posted by wormywyrm I'm not surprised that Factions doesnt have any votes yet I liked some of the art in it, and I liked the new professions, but the storyline/cinematics/newbie area I didnt think much of. Plus the whole Alliance Battle thing (though neat) is nothing compared to Nightfall's addition of Heroes.
Well the original had an original concept and was really a 3D diablo type of game based on pvp combat with a side story for the hell of it.
Factions was truly seemingly hardcore and was VERY difficult. The cities was mostly bland and remidned me of worst the asia cities have to offer. really it was pretty drab and dull.
Nightfall is a first for many. It's more noob friendly, it adds diff types of combat weapons I like, heroes was a nice add on. Different means to reach objectives added it's own challenge. The story and whole story aspect of the game in much more dedicated. On top of all that probably the FIRST really Black game. No more sass about GTA:SA with this game out. Having black heroes leading instead of the sidekick steriotypes is rockin. African/Egyptian backdrops adds a new culture aspect I really dig.

I didnt like the way factions looked at first either, but I have to admit it really grew on me, more so than anywhere in Prophecies. I love the setting of Nightfall too though. I think Anet is being really smart about these campaign's settings... They are so much better than what you typically see in expansions- Of course, the campaigns more more than simply expansions, but even so, they've done a great job with it.
I didnt really mind how difficult factions was, but I felt like it was difficult for the wrong reasons. It was difficult beacuse they throw tons and tons of enemies at your group, not because the missions were at all creative or the enemies were particularly interesting or unique. The factions missions felt pretty linear, and I think they went about the 16 player missions incorrectly, which is especially becoming apparent now that the numbers of players are dying down. There is about 0% chance now that you will ever be teamed up with a human group while playing in the 16 player missions (usually it tries to pair up two groups, but if there isnt another group starting the mission at the exact same time then it gives you henchmen). That really annoys me.
I never really took much interest in the challenge missions in factions, or in the 'epic' missions (or whatever), the ones you have to be ferried to. I'll probably look at them if I run out of other things to do.
It is nice to see Blacks in a video game. They do play around with some stereotypes in Nightfall, but for the most part (and certainly compared to GTA:SA, lol) its just harmless, and I enjoy it. I love most of the new armors and graphics and the feel of the game the culture of the world it is really beautiful.
Theres this girl in my physics class who sometimes wears beads and cloth around her clothes and hair, tastefully. It reminds me insanely of Nightfall. I usually try to chat her up but she doesnt seem too interested.

I disagree. Nightfall is a better starter than prophecies. Also I think pre-searing ascalon is pretty boring.
agreed. Also, for higher up missions (Fire Chain Islands and a few Southern Shiverpeaks missions..) theres hardly any people.
Nightfall is by far, the best of the three listed. If you're new to the game, then I would definitely suggest getting that one first and then decide if you want to go back and get the other two.

The storylines are seperate & standalone.
My vote is Nightfall because of heroes, Prophecies follow up because of long campaing & skill rewards in quests.
