I'm bored to death.
Console games, mmorpgs, every game is boring...All clones or something.
The Golden age of video game was when the N64 was around and everything before it.
I played video games all my life, it was bascially my life...now I can't find any game which get me really addicted or anything.
Now I'm a gamer...without games and bored to death.
What happened to our video games?

Just like all of the longer term gamers, you are trapped in a cycle of trying to re-discover that first game buzz.
Sadly it wont ever happen, you will never recreate that moment when you first got hooked until maybe a development company does something truly unique, but I wouldnt hold your breath.

Currently I can be found on the Euro CoX servers playing Green Power Ranger to his Red, lots of fun
Pick a game you can still stomach and try to bring in friends/family who havnt played, even the most dull and overplayed game can be fun again with RL buddies.

So let me just explain to you guys why it is we are bored with Games (ergo the products of the gaming industry). And to follow suit Ill explain my point with another qoute (The word "nigger" is used here not in a racial sense at all, but only in the sense of a "Generic Person" of any race.)

Lots of Games Companies who have Cars and Cash who dont know where to drive their Porsche and no original ideas on which to spend their cash.

Hehe, anyways. I empathise with you guys, I have played a good few MMO's so far and I have yetto find one that is even remotely satisfying, with 4 dimensional gameplay, original ideas or anything of the kind. And the funking heaps of Fantasy MMO's rolled out every year by every other Games company is a funking joke.
At the moment the industry is stale and money oriented, run by dicks who have very little idea about how to make a good game.
Maybe in the future things will change. I hope we will see another Golden Age oneday.

I personaly think looking for an addiction isnt healthy as ive grown older y tatses have changed, i want a game which i can play with people ( rather than against ) and i want a game i can pick up and play for a few minutes or even several hours though personaly i would rather have friends round with me playing it.
Ive been very captivated by the Wii as of late as it seem to offer this beyond the usual genre it seems more interactive and also encourages people gettign up and doing something aswell as encouraging people to go round each others houses and have a laugh playing some of these game, unfortunately the MMO market doesnt facilitate this type of interaction.
I think MMO's are starting to lose their gloss because in a lot of game people are tired of the grind and are looking for decent content, pvp players want pvp which is decent though MMO's seem to encourage pking and ganking and pve players want to be able to jump in with their friends and experience new things, MMo's on the market right now dont deliver this and longtime player like myself are burnt out chasing the next thing to grind for.
I think the long term enjoyment of the MMO industry is by going back to its root and RP taking center stage but to do this well would be a very big task and most companies which have tried this have failed in a big way.
Im a bit disillusioned about MMO's right now and think that all game designers need to look at the changes in what the market wants and then focus on making a quality game rather than a game which keeps people playing longer and hope that the numbers justify money being spend on developing expansions and decent content so the players keep playing rather than just grinding.
I already thought you are talking about Golden Age game for GBA. It's a great game though.
I will say I wish the industry as a whole would take more risks with game ideas and stop the constant sequels (you see this in the movie industry as well). Though I didn't like Eve, I think it is great that a non-fantasy MMO is out there and doing well, in a niche-filling kind of way...

Oh, right! Every single year!
Maybe you under a lot of stress or just in a phase of "nothing interest me", those happens.
maybe it is that your expectations are too high or your brain colors in too positive your younghood memories.
Whatever the reason, YOU have changed, games prolly too. But there are still awesome games out there, get released all the time, if you cannot enjoy them, it is time to ask yourself WHY?
Then go back to those old games, you can easily find them around and try them again and see if you enjoy them as much as you thought to.
personally, oblivion was a blast, final fantasy xii is great, warhammer 40k: dark crusade was one of the best RTS ever, ninja gaiden black was a great action game, KOTOR, Jade empire, Souledge 3... civilization 4! Rise of legends... all games i enjoyed much in the recent past.
so cheer up, look positively to the next games and don't start thinking they are bad even before playing.

I miss being surprised by games now things seem to offer no challenge and ive not only seen it but ive also done it, i remember playing Golden eye for hours upon hours trying to unlock all the features and loved it.
I think an example of a good game would be a game like Oblivion which has amazing depth and attention to detail which is rarely seen now.
I think console games are still fairly well done on the large when you look at games like splinter cell and the resident evil series ( though the fps resident evil was crap ).
The problem i have on a whole is the MMO genre has become dry and the focus by the developers seem to be adding things in which are more about grinding and doing the same thing over and over again in order to progress which is boring, unlike conventional online multiplayer games such as counterstrike and soldier of fortune 2 which players can jump in and play from the get go have fun and then log out.
The MMO genre needs to up its game and drasticaly change their ideas on wat content is or they are bound to the realms of the forgotten as the current design of MMO's are unhealthy for peoples personal lives (for those who are addicted) and also have poor repetitive game design.
Had the same argument on boring games with a friend at work the other day. There are two things you can do about it, either fight it or go with the flow. If you find how to fight it let me know

For the past couple weeks I've been download torrents of tv shows and watching them, catching up on what I've missed the last couple of years.
The problem isn't the games nearly so much as it's you. To swipe a quote from Neil Gaiman, "The golden age of comics is when you're twelve," although he was hardly the first to make that observation. Much the same applies to games.

Concerning your OP post i feel very sorry for you really i do, I had the same problem too so what i did was take a 2 month break and palyed single player games and had a life till one day eve called me back.
This happens to me about once a year or so.
Out of curiosity what was it about eve that you felt wasant you?

The 'golden age' comes and goes, console wise for me yes the N64 days was great, the 'last-gen' stuff only a few things peaked my intrest however the 'golden ages' have returned to me in the form of the Wii, I find it really frustrating to handle but it's damn fun, and it's not just the Nintendo side even a few 360 games are entertaining..
MMO-wise yes the old style MMOs are fading into nothingness, the meaning has changed, and nearly every dev sees 'money > fun' atm, however there are a few still willing to break from the current 'cookiecutter' game thats worth looking forward to
