This used to be a place where the swg playerbase-in-exile could sound off about the whole crummy 2004 debacle. Shortly after these forums split Viarrgo made his infamous appearance and it seems like everything changed. Several longtime posters had there ips banned and now these boards seem to have taken on the 'ghosttownish' qualities of the official boards. MMORPG.com at one time was extremley supportive of the outcry against the events of 2004 in swg, but no longer. Most of this year and last year the most active topics on this website were swg related. It has nothing to do with the anti nge sentiment dying down, the exiled playerbase is as ferverent today as it was a year ago.
If mmorpg.com is going to jump on the corporate bandwagon, which is very obviously has, I don't see why it doesn't latch itself to Blizzard, a company far more interested in advancing the genre and providing superior gameplay to the mmo community. Equally as profit driven as SOE, granted, but without the muddled agendas.

Well thats good to hear . Hopefully the Mods wont have to spend so much of their time having to deal with all the problems in this forum, and maybe this forum can start cleaning up its severely tarnished reputation, which has earned it the worst forum in MMORPG award. Bring it on down now.

I guess that is one way to make it easier to moderate your forums. Chase off a large portion of your visitors.

I think the problem is, after 2 years nothing new is being said. Anything of value is on the wall and the fact that the boards are here says they won't let SOE stonewall us.
There are times when Mods should step back. I have been a mod for huge forums and moody spells can have lasting effects. It's a tricky business when you are having a bad day.
We were given a free forum to bitch and complain and rally against $OE and their idiocy, yet they felt it was their place to come here and stir the pot or outright piss and moan we were even discussing it. When they were called out on it, they ran behind the mod's skirt and cried. They acted like this was THEIR forum, when it was created for us.
Of course, if you went to THEIR forum, you'd get reported for even the tamest post.
So that's why we left. We started our own community where we talk about whatever SWG topics we feel like. It's even growing much past that. Did we leave because we were forced off MMORPG.COM? No. Well, some were... but most just went there because we were free to discuss whatever we felt like without some troll stirring up a mess.
Bring THAT on down now.

Nothing other than SWG (which is now being kept alive completely by life support), the relevancy of this site (this forum should be closed since the Virrago induced crackdown since it no longer is any SORT of a "veterans refuge"), and possibly even SOE as a whole, since their reputation (what there was of it) was completely ruined by the NGE and how and why they did it.
People know about Blizzard because of WoW. People know of SOE because of what they did to us, not because any of their games are a huge success (collectively I'd say they have fewer subs across all their games now than EQ1 alone had a couple years ago).
Jilted pissed off ex-SWG players in large numbers have proven to be an incredibly destructive force, and a case study in why you don't piss off then piss on, then stomp on then laugh at 200,000 people when you run a service business.
Especially on a (then) very important and visited forum and a gaming site that (before a couple weeks ago) had a lot better reputation than proven shill sites like IGN.
That's why Virrago came, and then the bannings.
That's why we are all gone.
The two events occured too close together to be any kind of coincidence, especially when the mod tactics are all too familliar to anyone who experienced first hand Virrago and his sidekick GarVa's styles.
But hey, this isn't our site. The other one however is. The owners of this site are free to moderate their forum in any way we like. I do not dispute that. But they cannot in ANY way claim that the sudden pro-NGE troll anti-Vet shift in mod policy is both fair, nor consistent with the past.

I think thats where everyone is. I registered but cannot read the SWG section (which is why I reg'd in the first place). You need some special access thingy or whatever to read the SWG section. I dunno if that's so the mods can keep all the retards out or if theres some kind of cloak and dagger top secret agent man stuff going on in there. Maybe both?
Technically it is a closed forum. What is said there stays there. You can find alot of detailed information, and only the finest rumor. Unfortunately some people think that they will spread the word to increase their erank. Which is what everyone wants to avoid. That caused alot of problems here.
Then again there are those that are just too annoying to be allowed in. Points up to the MMOman. Anyway give it some time post in the other forums there. Prove you can contribute to the community. You will get in pretty quickly.
