I know the topic is somewhat old but I wanted to contribute to it. I got to confess that I got this nerdy hobby to try to run old 90s games - most are abandonwares (RPGs, RTS, open GL FPS,...). It worns out my brain cells sometimes - still there's a lot of Windows 95 emus - but sometimes you'll have also to counter up things. Anyway it works most of the time and it's a rejoice to play some old adventure game and re-makes.
Beside that I'll be continuing playing: - NWN (hopefuly NWN 2) - Oblivion (haven't finnished coz I grew tire of the loading uplags - and it's not even an online game!) - Gothic 2
For mmos, I'll be on almost free ones: - Rappelz (still open beta - so it also means a bit buggy) - Shadowblane - Conquer (now RIP - got totally tired of it)
Hummm, Tried Saga of Ryzom, but I chose the wrong race it seems (mantis) , as soon as I left newbie isle the game became almost unplayable.
The Mantis main town is dead, there are no other players there, in 10-15 hours gameplay I met 2 afk and 1 live player that didnt speak.
My guild is all on the other sides so I can't play with them, they tried to come to me to bring me back but after 20 death's they gave up.
The area around town is full of aggro mobs, almost impossible to "level" without dying constantly.
Im prolly gonna start on newbie isle again when I get home, it's getting too frustrating anything else atm.
I played DC alot, completed Campaign as Tau, Necron, Chaos and Marines, also made a titanic review/strategy guide for a private forum that I might post somewhere if I find the right spot.
Played Wow, it sucks if you don't like raiding endgame.
EVE is about how much time you have had your account in not skill
Play DAOC but it's so dead these days, the servers even clustered together has less players than 1 middle-size servers had before WOW.
GuildWars are Zzzzz imho.
Im waiting for NWN2, Vanguard, Gothic3 and for some BF2142 multiplayer once it comes here
But i'll be honest, except for a few minor time consumers like Vanguard and Spellborn the MMORPG future looks bleak for me until WAR, not much to look forward to there

No I'm not a HC member.. it's just that I do visit the site and read news and posts every single day since I registered myself. I guess that's the reason why. Sometimes it appears as "aprentice member" sometimes it appears like "HC memeber", go figure MMORPG.com kind of giving statues - it's true that I also deleted some postsunsubscribed myself from other forums so I wouldn't recevie "tons" of notification on my e-mail box. There you go, nothing fency, nothing like "yeah, I'm all about games and MMOs and I know all about it". I don't. I'm just a simple old gamer and I do appeciate some MMOs and played mainly trials or free ones and nothing got me really hooked so far...

Does it really matter? Well no. Just like mmo's dont really matter to RL. It doesnt REALLY MATTER. If it makes you feel any better I wouldnt of cut my wrists if you hadnt of told me.
