I expect LoTRo for example to be much more successful than VG. VG I would place among ranks 6-10. But of course I cannot foresee the future, especially since only bits and pieces of information are known. Let's see what happens.
I was lucky enough to catch some great beta footage of vangaurd last week. Theres some new previews showing off this content at vanguards web site. The previews show off some basic combat. It looks realy amazing! Any one else checked some this new beta footage out. I might have to go purchase a new desktop for this game. With all the new vista/dx stuff tho its seems akward time to upgrade. Iv read a bunch of threads about how this isnt going to work with that and why that will work with this but not other type stuff. Like how certain hardware wont run new stuff but will run some stuff. LOL! I even read quite deeply into the specs of all this new hardware. Think of the average joe sshmo!
It will be a nice niche game, the forced grouping will turn off the majority of the casual players, Hopefully they will do the group/raid oriented crowd right though. From what I have seen the only real competitors to WoW next year will be LoTRO and AoC. I don't think Vanguard is going to appeal to a huge crowd, but that is not nescessarily a bad thing.
Originally posted by eycel Iv read that vanguard is useing the unreal 2 engine instead of the unreal 3 one. Can any one give any incite to what that means? And maybee what the differences of the two are?
They licensed the Unreal 2 engine and heavliy modified it into a MMO engine. Since VG has been in development for 5 years is suppose the Unreal 3 enige wasn't around 2002?
The raiding/grouping system will be something else, without instances and all . I cant wait to see how the dungeans are supose to handle multiple parties this way.
Im pretty sure I read some where about how Vanguard might later switch over the the Unreal 3 engine after release. How that works and what the differeneces are I havent came across.
In case any one missed the advertiesment and various threads cirulating here at mmorpg open beta has or will start some time soon. The client is available to download at fileplanet. Has any one downloaded it yet? How much hard drive space does it take up total?

Only 16.7 GBs, well worth it for a game of this caliber.
Beta will be up to 30GBs max. All betas are full of redundant or dormant code. When the game is released, it is stated that the game will be between 18 and 22 GBs.
Im glad to see Vanguard doing so well. Sigil must have some aces under there sleves that they recetnly used. Now i just need to find a copy of the game and install it
