Well I can't rate it on the games page So, I'll post here.
The game actually launches for beta today, Dec 22nd at noon Eastern Standard Time, but I was lucky enough to participate in yesterday's 4 hour pre-beta warmup party. In 4 hours I was hooked!
The game has all the standard MMORPG features, like crafting, fighting, learning different skills etc. But what makes it different from al lthe others is the ability to fight at sea in the style of Sid Mier's Pirates as well. Don't feel like fighting? can always harvest resources by mining, harvesting and fishing. The graphics are on par with pay games such as EQ2 and Guild Wars.
The website has a fairly decent guide to tell you how to do most things, only problem I found is that the text color and background color on the guides is the same so need to highlight. ANd since it's based in China, the wording may confuse people a bit, but they try really hard.
Overall I'd give this game a 9 for a rating

I don't think i'll get a chance to play it much until I get back from vacation next week though.
We shall see how it goes.
Happy Holidays everyone!
This game seems to be the good surprise of the year. I didn't expect it at all, but at least after the few first hours of play the feeling is really good.
To make a summary, like eve-online but dumbed down and with avatars
Yeah some of the help is hard to understand, but I have been watching this game for a while. Thanks to the eve-online mention I may give it a shot
I dont like this game.
The whole Interface looks Cheap and the Grafics are on EQ1 Niveau NOT EQ2,like mentioned in the First Post.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. For you to tell this person the "game is fine" sounds like you're trying to defend the game for some reason.
I try every single MMOG and give it a fair and honest attempt. To say Voyage Century is "fine" and "the graphics are on par with EQ 2" is certainly your opinion. Now I will express my opinion.
The game is laughable, at best. The graphics reek of a 5 year old game. The interface is atrocious. The PvE is mind numbingly dull. I've engaged in more exciting ship combat in 2D console games. The one thing I did like were the neat little things people were doing like farming or the several people I found chopping away at a tree. However, that certianly isn't enough to give this game any redeeming quality. I was completely bored after a couple of hours spending a good hour on land and a good hour on the water. It got old, real fast.
Asian User are not to stupid to use a computer, in fact I like asian people more than I like myself.
Graphics aren't great, but since it's a free game it wants to be as accessible as possible to a wide range of people. Many korean games are made with the netcafe crowd in mind.
Gameplay is kinda herky jerky, and the leveling and skill depth is pretty low. There is variation as far as the 4 professions, and the ships dont look that bad. Theres also land combat which is cool, nothing special but its a nice feature.
Game isn't revolutionary but it's worth checking out. It's free, it has a certain appeal, and I would recommend it as a casual getaway from the average mmorpg.
It's better be hated for who you are, than loved for who you aren't.
and because of that game i'm on smallband lol so i kinda hate the game
but evry1 has the right to say and think what he wants
My $.02, if I may. No, the game is not a technological breakthrough in graphics. And I agree the U.I. could use some adjusting. Also, I do wish they would hire someone who actually speaks fluent English to translate the game for the English speaking world they are aiming this port at.
However, for what it is, it is a good game and I'm having fun with it. I find new things to do all the time. It's something new to pass the time and get lost in; instead of the cookie cutter L2 model, which most asian oriented games seem only too happy to throw at you or the orcs and elves done by most western games these days. I like it, and that's all that matters to me.
But I do realize that the game will not be for everyone, so if you're interested, give it a shot. If not, I hope you find something you do like.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone
...and then you get banned for hacking xD
The developers generally dont care if americans provide a SSC number which is valid because it isnt legally needed.
Oh and as someone noted you can adjust your resolution and graphics levels in your .ini file. This is allowed by the developers and if you ask a developer how they will tell you to change your .ini file.
As for the game, I quite enjoy it because it reminds me of Pirates! by Sid Meir. The gameplay is quite a bit more like a MMORTS. Although there is quite alot of RPing. In anycase I like the game alot . The graphics are satisfying enough though I aggree it would be more along the lines of Eq after the graphics update.
You can actually change the resolution (it requires changing some ini files) and anyone with half a brain searching on the Voyage forums would have found out how in a few minutes.
I have mine running at 1680 x 1050 on highest graphics settings and it's amazing!
As someone brang out in another post this game resembles Uncharted Waters to a high degree. That game was one I enjoy tremendously. Perhaps Im just enjoying replaying this genre of game in a MMo format. Whatever the gase I have alot more faith in Potbs now that I see the genre can be done well. I prolly wont quite this game even when Potbs comes out because I love the community.
