Yes they did. Brad said in the news release that they redid all the male animations and soon (if not already) gonna change the female ones.

Yah, their website is crap, I gotta agree. But a lot of the FAQ is not finalized yet because the game is not finalized.

And my biggest fear is that they are going to make the world barren, but I heard it's not a problem. I heard they are adding random crap to it every now and then.

Well they can defiantly count me in I’m really wanting to see if it holds up to the hype.

There’s a lot of roomer’s floating around about it and I’m so hoping a lot of them are true.

This is one of those games that give me mixed feelings.  I'm a graphics/animation person myself and from the screen and videos I've seen I can't quite decide how I feel about the game.

Some screens look really good and some look really bad.  Was watching the videos they have of the horse and the animation just looked - well, not trying to be mean - but bad.  Clunky of sorts.  But I'm a Fileplanet subscriber and have alread signed up and downloaded the huge file so I'll be set.

Maybe some of you out there following this game closer than I am can point me to a post or something about the combat system.  I hear it's different but not seeing anything that tells me how.

Yay! hopefully the NDA will be lifted then and we'll get the real scoop from more than just a handuful of NDA breakers.

I got a letter from mailer@mmorpg.com, which of course I cannot reply to, warning me that I implied I was in beta. For the record, I'm not in the Vanguard beta, never have been, haven't seen anyone else playing the beta, never even received an invite. Hopefully that will changein January.

Edit: Did I read correctly that the game has been in development 4.5 years? I don't think any devs will get longer than that to make a game. I disagree with the "when it's ready" idea. After 4.5 years it better be ready or to bad you're out of money.

I got one of those e-mails too. Can't say i care actually.

Vanguard hasn't been in development for 4.5 years. Maybe 2.5 years. 3 years ago Brad was still at SOE. Sigil is not a new studio that is strapped for cash or in a hurry to push it's product before it's ready. The fact is. It's almost ready :)

Personally the time it’s taken seems irrelevant to me.

If the game comes out and we see it’s as good or better than we expected people will most likely say Well they put a lot of work into it. Took ‘em X amount a years to get it to where it was at release”

If the game comes out and it doesn’t live up to expectations people are bound to say “good grief  they took how many years to develop this steaming heap”

But at this point as we wait with bated breath for its release or at least the beta we have to take the time frame they have taken in stride and hope that means that a lot of developers and designers have put in a lot of work and that its going to show up as a great game because of that work.

Cry if/when they release it full glitches, keyword RELEASE.
He means open beta...the last stage before release where the public and the press can view 4.5 years of work and judge it harshly or praise it gloriously. IMHO this game is not ready for public viewing in a open beta. Oh well I'll let the blind fans continue on hoping for the best. They have some very good concepts IMHO but they need to work out the bugs and other glaring issues before even thinking of letting Joe Blow from the public and the press get a shot to play the game.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)

Let the flood gate of Fileplanet asshats open! JK lol I can't wait for open beta, I just won't be able to upgrade my computer as I had hoped. None to worry, I have heard it will play marvelously on a system like mine. 2 gigs of ram and a radeon x800 pro, shouldnt be a problem!

Well, on the upside, the sounds of the weeping, and gnashing of teeth both here, and on the Vanguard forums will be possitively glorious.

I should start making a list of all the people that said they didn't care what state it was in, that they just hadhadhadhad to play it nownownow or they would die in real life. Usually they are the first to start bitching about how the game sucks, didn't meet their unrealistic expectations, and whatever else.

BTW at the moment  www.fileplanet.com  is the only place to get the client download for open beta.

To join fileplanet Involves $6 monthly subscription (although I think you can pay the first month then cancel once you download and get your beta key emailed to you (sent once open beta begins)

Estimates say 4th - 6th January open beta begins.

Im downloading client now from fileplanet. :)

I wouldn't be suprised if there was a torrent of it.

Actually Vort if you have bought the pre-order from Best Buy you can get the beta client that way also.

From what i've seen and read. The game is clearly not released. I am waiting for Age of Conan, but am going to give Vanguard a try as well. This is just a matter of opinion. I'm a 3D Grahpic Modeller, Animator, World Design Artist. So i'm going to do now what I do to everyones game. I'm going closely look at all visual aspects of the game. Here is my opinion.

The animations are poorly done. From what I can see they all appear hand crafted, which means a sensory suit was not used. Now this allows me unique animations, but generally are far from realistic motion. Don't hold this to me, but that is just what I gather from my observations.

The textures are ok at best. The world is "good" and the characters are just awful. They need work and I realise it probably isn't easy with the high level of customization.

I don't have much to say as far as the world is concerned, because well there isn't much videos/screenshots focusing on the environment. So that'll have to wait.

This is all a matter of opinion so don't flame me for it =)

I also am expecting the graphics to get MUCH better over time and am assuming that is the reason behind high system requirements. It was built for the future, but they left the graphics in the past.

Don't get me wrong or anything, but as a novice game developer(making my own MMO) I know the first thing players experience and see is UI and graphics. UI i'm not so sure on, but graphics is clearly lacking.

In my opinion forget the rush. Push the release date and polish the game to its fullest. GL Sigil and best luck on Vanguard. I for one will wait 1-2months after release for the game to smooth out some more.

I think that subscribers can download the client right now, but if the beta is released, then everyone is welcomed there. Since it is OPEN BETA. I have never seen an open beta on Fileplanet.com for subscribers only. Usually those are Closed betas.

    Hey All,

I am still trying to get more Vanguard keys from my SOE PR rep but will not get an answer until after the New Year.  No promises as I have received more than 30 more requests than I had keys.  It was the first that responded that were lucky to get them.  I hope to have one for each and every one of these additional requests but it doesn't look extremely hopeful.  Sorry to those I could not help but I will personally answer each request, one way or the other.

And BTW, the client can be downloaded from other than FilePlanet... http://download.station.sony.com/patch/download/vgo/vanguard.zip ...but you have to have a station ID and a key for this to work.

So again, I am sorry that we only had a limited number of keys for Vanguard and I am all out now.  But I will keep trying to get more...I would LOVE nothing more than to fill all of the requests but that is not likely.  Thanks for your patience.

There have been many open betas @ fileplanet. They usually let the subscribers get keys, downloads first and then they let the free members get the stuff. I'm pretty sure it was like this with several mmo's released over the past 2-3 years.

They should have known Blizzard was going to hold out untill they felt the best way to hurt any decent competition from a MMO so far untill now. They didn't release the X-pack before the holiday season for a reason. And it wasn't because it needed more polish. This is the perfect time to hurt this games possible success. Cheers...

I will always wishes the best to Sigil.

Otherwise, I wouldn't take MY precious time to hammer, over and over again, that raid-free servers are important.

And you can expect me, telling that, for the next few weeks, I will give up when it is too late for that happening at release, which is 2 weeks prior release.  2 weeks is a minimum to make the raid-free servers from scratch IMO, and missing the launch is missing the point.

     (PPG look)

And the world resolves intermitedly between you and Brad I assume?  Blizzard doesn't care about such stuff.

Trying to take your point of view:  However, Blizzard is staffed by ex-FoH players, so maybe they manage to get that done out of spite!  Which would be FoH-ish typical.  Still, that would be a long stretch!    Haha; I don't believe FoHish players are that powerful, but heck, who know?
