WoW fanboys will never accept the opinion of anyone who disagrees with them for several reasons:
1) They are most of them at the stage of puberty and hence they're mostly stupid and can't see more than one side to things.
2) They have too much pride to see the other side of the argument.
3) They're too stupid to play Eve so understanding why Eve is better isn't possible for them either.
4) They've invested a lot of time into a crap MMORPG and hence they will defend their choice, to prove hopelessly to themselves that they didn't waste all their time.
Yes i generalised, and yes i'm right when applying my arguments to 95% of the WoW population. I know very few adults or mature people playing WoW. And for the record i'm not an adult either
So no matter how long these debates will last, ultimately there's no point in arguing because hardly anyone ever changes their opinion. I tell you this after years of arguments over the internet on various forums
Yea i know only reason im replying to this Fanboi is....
I enjoyed my time in EvE, but it was becasue there is not PVE in it beyond the basic storyline missions. Ratting isn't complex nor awe inspiring. Most people do the randomly generated missions when they are low on cash or complexs in hopes of a bp1 and never return.
What makes EvE fun is the lack of PVE and winninga PVE award is ridiculous and the backlash is apt. EvE is a great game, but the fanbois voted it up in areas it should not win and people speak up when that happens. It is akin to WoW winning best PvP, or Guild Wars best economy/crafting related awards.
They sell EVE at my local "GAME" store for £10 each.
EDIT: Oh and time cards too.
Timecards damn you are so luckty i ahve to order mine online.
Af for PRIDES assertion that EvE is failing because it has no retail sales he is jsut out of date bwecause modern retail sales are done online nowadays and eve sells well it seems.

yea you are quite right here i perwsonally voted WoW for PvE as i felt it had the better in that area but if there was a 3rd choice i might have voted for it instead.
I found a copy of Dark age of camelot at a store yesterday. It wasn't any of epic or updated editions, it was the very first edition. I was shocked, it must have been there for ages haha. I picked it up anyway, been a while since I played, and it was only 5$.
WoW is all about PVE as much as McDonald's is all about Hamburgers.Yes, there are also salads and french fries, but most people eat there for their hamburgers.
EVE is not all about PVE as much as any quality restaurant is not about hamburgers. yes, you can have a hamburger almost anywhere, but people dont go to a quality restaurant to eat a hamburger.
so, does it mean that McDonald's hamburgers are best in the world? no, it doesnt. in fact, they arent. they could be catalogued as some of the worst hamburguers in the world. i can make better hamburgers at home. i can eat much better hamburgers on any good restaurant.
then, why does people still go to McDonald's and eat hamburgers? well, we all know, but amongst the many reasons, there are 2 very important: availability and marketing.
Having actually played both I would have to say eve has better PVE that I actually felt more involved with where as in WoW I basically did the exact same thing for everything and if I died big deal. Sure WoW has raids but they are rather boring and tedious sure some of the content was nicely but its pretty much the same as the one before it.
Personally I didn't vote for either of them when I think of PVE I think in terms of diveresity of npcs, random encounters that happen after killing a certain type of npc or engaging with a npc. And a few other things of course. I wouild have voted for Eve before WoW though there are so many more games with better pve its just their communities didn't come out to vote for them.
You could have at least posted a constructive post that stated why Eve's PVE wasn't as good as WoW's PVE or why you fell neither should have been selected.

if WoW would be low quality, then they wouldn't receive such high ratings from reviews, and wouldn't receive as many awards either.
Oh look, more WoW fanboys who are upset that they lost. Blame all those lazy millions who couldn't be bothered to vote on this site.
Oh, and don't go blaming that fact a EVE PLAYER posted a link to this site and it was stickied by a VOLUNTEER MODERATOR.
There have been many posts on the WoW forums linking this poll, but people are too busy whining to vote it appears.
Lets not blame the Staff member who posted the link to mmorpg.com awards on the main eve online website either.
Hey Gameloading, do you have any info on how many EVE players were attracted to come here and vote because of that link? i guess it must be at least half million

Enough to make a less popular and lower quality game (but still of very high quality) win over a more popular and higher quality game.

so, your conspiracy theory is that a game official page attracted 2k players to vote to a 500k member site, and they cracked the poll?

I also never mentioned any numbers, as I don't know how many people voted in the poll. But yes, I strongly believe that the reason EVE won is because CCP asked its players to vote. There is a reason why a game with barely 200k subscribers wins from a game with 7,5 million players.

well, its quite easy. on the awards page, on the graphics one, they say there were about 4800 votes. we can expect the same number of votes for any category.
that means that at most, 3k eve players read the news and came here to vote. well, in fact, that would mean there were no "native" mmorpg.com eve supporters, which is not the case. so, a more accurate number would be 2k.
so, 2k eve players invalidate a 500k member site poll. if that is not a conspiracy...
Here we go again with the EVEangelists like ssstupido doing what EVEangelists do best: hyping EVE by ignoring its obvious flaws, running its competition through the gutter, and offering no facts, but only strange analogies about how EVE is soooooo suuuupperrior to anything else.
Saying EVE is "quality," and WoW is not, is like saying Taco Bell is quality, and McDonald's is not. They are both mass marketed, they both have serious failings, and they both satisfy your hunger until such time as you are hungry for more, to consume another round of junk food that we'd all be better off not having in the first place.
WoW = McDonald's
EVE = Taco Bell
Content (both PvP and PvE)= The Entre
Both WoW and EVE are there to feed you. One does it with hamburgers, the other with tacos. Now they are both some of the worst sorts of food, delivered in the worst possible ways.
You can't tell me EVE has superior quality to WoW, when a WoW server is almost always up, and EVE lags, hangs, and service blackouts to update the only server they choose to give us. You can't tell me WoW has superior quality to WoW, when it allows you to possess and progress 50 characters, while in EVE, they only allow you three characters, and only runs the training clock on one.
You don't think EVE makes itself available? Its "available" 24/7. Just type in the cc numbers and you suddently possess EVE. You don't think EVE markets itself? What do you think the big fanboi push to stuff the ballot box here was all about, except some veiled attempt at gurella marketing? EVE in fact advertises itself in the same way as Taco Bell does against McDonald's: they tell the consumers that they are not enlightened, smart, or trendy conniseurs unless they dare to go , "outside the bun." Much the same way that EVE and CCP markets itself by saying that WoW is not a true MMO, and dare the people here to play EVE.
Those are just words though from CCP, and they have the EVEangelists like ssstupido hook, line, and sinker. So much so that they'll recite their marketing blitz as mantra on sites like this one, for free, and refuse to actually stand up for themselves when CCP and EVE cut corners, put the customers of EVE last on their list of priorities, and neglect the game they are hyping pursue the almighty dollar.
When you look past the hype, the spin, and the silly cliches, you find out that Taco Bell isn't the "anit-McDonald's," but rather, a McDonald's that sells tacos instead of hamburgers, burritos instead of chicken nuggets, and nachos instead of fries.
The same thing with EVE. Its not the "anti-WoW," but rather, a WoW that does spaceships instead of fantasy, skill based instead of class based, and PvP-emphasis instead of PvE-emphasis.
The bottom line is though, they are both "fast food," and "junk food," that is not only bad for you when taken in abundance, but gives you far less value than you pay for in the end.

I know better than to reply to this.. I know better. My mom warned me about days like this... my wife made me sleep on the couch for posts like this.. but.. I'm going to do it anyway.
It's impossibly difficult to compare WoW to EVE.. but I'm going to try to anyway.
Game play:
Wow... is more or less High School Algebra. Everyone, more or less, can pass the subject. It's not that hard to pick up. Not a huge learning curve. And everyone and their brother has learned the course.
EVE... is Advanced Calculus in a 4 year college. It's depth & techinical prowess can be a huge learning curve and isn't for everyone. Hell.. there's a 6 page explanation on how the turrets work.. with graphs! GRAPHS!
Genre:
WoW / Fantasy - The toyata & ford of social interest. Just compare how many fantasy games there are to how many sci-fi.
Eve / Hi-end Sci-Fi - The BMW & Austin Martin. Not everyone is interested in the area of setting.
So.. yes.. WoW makes more money. WoW has ALWAYS been a successful title. I'm not sure why we're all amazed that there are "millions of players"! ...its sold millions of copies every Warcraft (except for maybe 1) they've put out.

Yes and i agree tho eve has nice PvE it isant yet full developed.
Tho saying that WoW hardly has the best PvE.
