Best MMORPG for Solo Play?

So I was wondering what people's thoughts are on the mmorpg that gives the best solo play?
Dosen't have to be fast leveling for solo play, just that the play its self is fun, engaging, and 'doable'. It should however to possible to reach very high level solo, it just doesn't have to be fast (or as fast as grouping anyway).
Thoughts?

I think, if you play a fantasy based MMORPG and you play a pet class caster, you shouldn't have too much trouble soloing.
I solo'd in EQ and DAoC to fairly high levels. IN EQ, the Magician is an easy solo, as well as the Necro, but I think Magician is a littl easier. I was always able to solo yellows with my Earth Pet. In DAoC I was able to solo with a cabalist (sp?!?!) and a Fire Wizard (not a pet class, but dealt huge damage with Fire Bolts).
I also solo'd to about 25th level with a Bard Troll in DAoC. An excellent class if you just want to run around and pick and choose your fights. With their speed song, they are very fun to play.

Dark Age of Camelot is Soloable, if you want to be doomed to a lonly sad pitiful existance. Face it, most of the things you can solo aren't fun to kill, and don't give you nearly as much experance as grouping. The quest, the one thing that should provide a solo enviroment, are so boaring that I would sooner hear the sound of cats scraping bear claws on a chalk board. And this is coming from a guy who likes and currently play DAOC.
No, the only fun I"ve ever had soloing in any mmorpg was in AC2. Which I hear becomes nigh impossible after about level 32. So I don't know how that will work for you, only that it's a free trail if and download, if you're willing to give it a try. Personaly I would wait for games like World of Warcraft and Ulitima X: Odyssey, in which the developers have gone out of their way to make the game soloable for every class in the game. Even so far as in World of Warcrafts case, to make the priest soloable. (If your looking for untainted proof of this read the beta journal of Pendragon on warcry.)
Those arejust my humble opinions though.

Solo-quests, solo hunting, solo crafting and just plain adventuring. Oh, and variety, which some of the other suggestions dont offer much to keep you amused.

I agree DAoC is fairly solo friendly. I solo'd a couple characters fairly high, but the lack of interesting quests kinda turned me off (this was at release so questing in DAoC may have come a long since then).
I beta'd AC1 and could just never get into that game. In hindsight I should have given it more time, lots of people loved that game.
hmmm, I may actually have to give Horizons a try and see how well it works.
Here's the thing, I like grouping and all but I only end up in a group maybe 50% of the time. I don't normally play during prime time and I often only play for an hour or two at a time so I don't always want to waste time looking for and then getting a group organized. Plus sometimes I just like farting around and don't want to feel like I'm holding my group up if I go take frequent smoke breaks (wife won't let me smoke in the house
It's just a shame that mmorpgg's are all going down the road of making Grouping maditory. I don't understand the philosophy quite frankly.

Well, this is a pretty awesome thread because I basically don't know when I am going to be online and able to game (my job is hard!) and so I usually -- when I find the time -- play solo on UO for hours. UO is great because you can just be in UO and interact as much or as little as you like. You can also build a complete world there including a home and so forth. So I guess I recommend UO, but that said, my PC is slow and I can run the 3D version of UO pretty well but I don't know how I would do with Horizons.

EQ is at war with soloing!
The best soloers are peoples that raid and group a lot! This is nonsense! Dont waste your time in EQ if you plan to solo!

Really? Well Necromancers and Magicians used to be able to. My chanter could also. I dunno about anymore if theve made changes though.

The fact someone CAN solo dont mean the game is nice to solo.
I solo mobs that strike like AoW in EQ, yet, the best soloers are raid geared and group to earn more XP, which is an anti-solo measure!
Point me a game where the best soloer of the game earn everything he have soloing, and I will nod, if someone need to group or raid or tradeskill or use RL bribes, then it is not a soloing game!
My twink, a rogue, was unable to solo from 40 to 65...(and she have many millions PP gear on her...making many rude anti-twink comments come from folks that see a noob with Ornate gear or better, always!).
Someone CAN solo in EQ, that dont mean EQ is nice for soloer just because someone can, you CAN live in Ethiopia if you want, you will have enought food and all, but that dont mean, by any way, that Ethiopia is great for someone that live to eat nice gastronomy! Yet, you can do it.
In fact, EQ is 1 of the worst game for soloers, beside FFXI I cant think of any game that is worser for a soloer then EQ!

No no, someone dont HAVE to solo all the time, but the best soloer should earn all his solo edge, in solo.
EQ is not solo friendly, I was able to do pretty fine with some class, but that dont mean it is solo oriented, they are at war with it. The simple fact you give a XP bonus to group show as non-solo friendly, you better group then solo in this game...it is not solo friendly, not at all! The fact soloers earn stuff outiside of soloing to rule the soloing world is not solo friendly, it need to be solo challenges! You cant ask someone to play Pac Man and award the best reward in your game based on a Pac Man highscore tables and say your game is nice and rewarding those that play it.
The nicest solo rewards goes to folks that dont earn it soloing, thereby, the game is not solo friendly, not at all!
(some of the nicest group rewards(gear) goes to folks that dont earn it grouping, thereby, the game is not that group friendly either)

I would have to agree uo has been the only good solo game, well theres a couple others. level based games just arn't made for solo play. What with stat loss etc when you die, you are practically forced to group, not to mention leveling sucks bullocks. We need more frecking skill based games.

Im not saying OMG this game is JUST for soloing. Im saying its possible, and out of the games I have played it is the best. Thats not my opinion its a fact. No I havent played all the MMORPG's so theres likely some others. As far as I know there is NO game that is 100% soloable. A solo oriented MMORPG??? There isnt one. If you know of some please tell me. You still didnt mention any game that is best for soloing, youre just saying which one isnt and thats not the point of this thread.

I dont like the AC games, but they are better for soloing. A lot better, now dont read me wrong, the game itself may lack, but for soloing and only on a soloing concern, AC would beat EQ anyday!
Horizons is nice for tradeskillers, thereby I suppose for soloing it must be great as well, but I didnt try it.
SWG is sweeeeeeet for soloing! (again, they have many issues)
Pick any at random, and it will most likely be more solo friendly then EQ, the high end rewards does matter a lot!
There is no point in soloing in EQ to see someone raid geared solo better then you, it mean, you have to raid if you want to be top soloer in EQ, which is a nonsense!
As far as I know, the best plumber is not a doctor in RL, and the best doctor is not a plumber either! The best doctor is a doctor that studies and work hard, while the best plumber is prolly a guy that never finish highschool but is very great with technicals skills!

Ok so all those games are solo oriented? No they arent. You said EQ is NOT solo oriented. I agree. Neither is AC, AC2, Horizons or SWG. They all promote grouping, is soloing possible? Sure.

No you dont have to raid to solo. I didnt. Theres proof. Dont be so worried if someone is soloing "better" than you can. They chose to group and you didnt. No one forced you.

If you want to be the BEST soloer, you have to raid, there is no choice there!
I will settle for nothing less then the way to the best and the top, and I am looking for a soloing game(or grouping), not for a raiding.
If someone solo better then me because he is a good soloer, I will bow down to him and try harder to beat him.
If someone solo better then me because he raid or group, I stop soloing in this game, right away!
Solo friendly mean that someone get a system where he reach the top of the soloing system, only soloing.
If you can solo in level and still be ghetto, there is no point in even doing it! I play to be an adventurer, a hero, to be the best!
If a game is solo friendly, then the best soloer, earn all his solo edge, soloing(or the non-soloing road was longer and less rewarding then the soloing road would have been)!
Soloing in EQ is like working but getting no salary!

The reason EQ is not solo oriented, or any other game, is simply because theres not enough mobs for every single person. So they limit it to certain classes. Grouping with people 1 time doesnt mean you dont solo. Solo means you fight a mob by yourself. Solo does NOT mean you do it 100% of the time, you cant. As far as being "the best" soloer, yep youre gonna have to group. But then thats what the game IS, group oriented. THERE IS NO mmorpg THAT IS 100% SOLOABLE! Your arguement holds no water because: YES EQ is not solo oriented and neither is ANY OTHER GAME! Not AC or AC2 or SWG or ANYTHING.
"Solo friendly" does NOT mean you have to solo 100% of the time. Solo friendly means youre ABLE to solo. Solo oriented would mean you solo 100% of the time.

AC1, AO, SWG, & DAoC for the most part. Another one that you'll be able to solo is World of Warcraft. People in Beta have said soloing in the game in great. Most people never have to group unless they really want to.

Pretty hard level gring at lvl50+ but it can be as simple or as complexed as u'd want it to be.Theres not alot of point in not soloing in this game if i think about it.
