How can you play this game... it is awful

I compared this game to Ultima Online, and even though I quit Ultima Online I still found it more customizeable, more addictive and the PVP was good, along with the MVP and looting system. Why the hell would anyone pay a monthly fee for this piece of shiz?

I like dogs, they taste good.

I am not going to retort to flaming you, but I may probably not like half the games you play. I love this game......it all depends on what peoples preferences are, and what they want out of a MMORPG. I just hope you played the game for more than  5 minutes before thinking you have the right to judge this game. The game is not aweful in my opinion, that is your opinion, so maybe you should just keep it to yourself, because i cant amagine everyone else who reply's to this thread will be as fine with your bashing of the game as i have been.

btw, if you expect us to take what you say seriously then give reasons why you do not like the game instead of just moaning about it.

Edit: gotta love people who make a few posts just to piss people off then never return.

    1. First of all i like the graphics sorta friendly.

    2. nice people.

3.good mmorpg and gets better and better the more you play.

    4. Has every thing i like in a mmorpg.

5.I do not like serious games.

    6. Gravity the company who makes the game keeps upgrading it making it better.

    7. Their is alot of things I like about this game that I do not know what they are but I have to say this game is great. I mean sometimes you just want to play a mmorpg that is different from all the others and this one is different but really good so give it a chance.

    8. If I really thought about My list would go up to 200 hundred but im doing a quicky. ::::01::

Although i do not like this game that much, it isn't that bad.

It's gameplay and concepts are easy to pickup and play. The login time is the fastest for any MMORPG, which gives it much more game time. It has a great and easy fighting system. Although the PVP is ok, it is still a pretty solid game. I like the graphics, they are nice too.

The only things i don't really care for is the lack of character classes, even though they do cover the base classes. I don't know why but whenever I play it I get bored. Maybe thats because when i played it I played it way too much, i learned that has an affect on people image. I hope to get into it again, because it is pretty good.

Also, if you are going to bash the game, please please PLEASE, give some arguements.

you've GOT to be kidding me,  first of all,  take secret of mana and secret of evermore,   back in the day, those games kicked ass, now make them mmo...  amazing,   if you dont like that kind of game,   a. youre wrong, i know opinions cant be wrong but in this case it is, its that good of a game,  im sorry dude,  but your opinion is actually wrong!    b.  you havent given it a chance /  you are in a coma or are handicapped in some inexplicable way,  noone can not like those games, they rocked and so does this game.

each month they update stuff, not just update but they add at a level i didnt think humanly possible they must have developers working 24hrs a day,   plus i have been playing on the juno patch wich will be coming soon and it is wonderful,   every single time they reinvent something in the game.

the graphics are amazing,  they combine this oldschool feel with total flawless newschool aproaches to things,   each class is so different its SOO much fun to play.

they have done the best job on this game,   i cant stop playing it,  its THE most fun mmorpg game i have played to date and games that come out after it still dont compare.

you must not have played it for more than like 2 days because after that it sets in and you can really get deep enough to see how unbelievably great this game is.

congratulations i think you may be the first person whos opinion is actually wrong!   i mean hitler is up there too i guess but i mean on a casual level where people just have their own opinions!     there is noway anyone cannot appreciate this game,  i mean even that other dude up there said he didnt like it really but its still a good game!   its just so enjoyable!   i mean they made everything so streamlined and flawless,  crafting, player shops,   even your own chat room for people to leave offers on auctions!!! i cant believe how great this game is.

i love you but i've chosen darkness

Woah nellie! "THe graphics are amazing" yeah sure, if you like a decent 3-d background with cheesy sprites for characters running about...heheh  I guess it is kinda cool to see your SWORD jump from one hand to the other when you turn a bit....ummm.

The SHEER number of bots lagging some areas and the camping all makes for another delightful MMORPG.

And wait there is more! I played since just after Alpha testing and the updates for the international server have been pretty sparse. The deleted items and cards have been a JOY to behold...the nerfs quite timely.... I play iRO when I am REALLY bored but as a top game I think it ...falls short of the mark.

This game is very well done for what it is and I advise a serious player to try the Korean server for the actual full experience, the English server has a long ways to go. I see a lot of items for sale on ebay- a good indicator someone wants to look good ingame.

The best part is the game server was only hacked seriously 3 times. No wait that sucks too! Play if you must but you have been told it has substantial problems and thats a fact.

Well first of all I like this game period. I do not like real time graphics for example everquest graphic's. I like to have a fun while im playing. It doesnt have a night time which I hate night time cant see anything and its lame. This game has the most girls playing it out of any mmorpg I have played and I like to talk to girls. Has everything you need in a great game. I have no clue why you people do not like this game. I like every thing in this game. I mean what the **** do you guys play? I've tried every mmorpg out thier not one can top this. The ONLY con about this game is the lack of classes to pick but they are coming with some more soon so that fixes that. I would rather have these graphis then any other. Its one of a kind. Yes their is updates every month or so and their great. Well working staff up on the game 24-7. If you like to play alone you can go into a private server and If you like playing with people go into a regular server. The people in this game becuase how it is made are the kindess people i've met. You always see people theirs not too much people nor too little just perfect. Every Feature in this game is great. Better than great. If you dont like this game then dont but you are going to have a HARD time finding a better one and if you think you do tell me and ill tell you what sucks about that game. . . . . .

the only game that i am waiting for is WOW so that doesnt count. ^_^

A very recent post on iRO's main website regarding bots has been read over a thousand times in one day. There must be dozens of posts about the log in failures also. (over crowded servers, all two of them!)

The game has some attractions, no doubt, but the problems at this time out weigh the benefits and the high real life dollar cost of playing don't help. For cheaters, this is the best game on the market -but- for a hard core MMORPG fan it is lacking due to these two problems- over-crowded servers and botting.

[I ignore the cutie pie characters as a factor, many players feel put off by them. As for all the "girls" playing, I would think twice about that as a fact. Most players got stuck with the gender of the credit card holder who paid the account originally.]

Trust me, after investing hundreds of hours leveling up my characters on the iRO servers, I am in a posistion to notice what is going on in-game.

Remember, Gravity had the game code passed around the internet for many months and totally stopping the exploits may be impossible without re-coding the game. iRO 2 is a possibility and I am sure it will be the real deal!

Couldn't be more agree with you! And in RO players can run bot just to get money. That's tragic isn't. We play to socialize, not just to see how many bots hanging around in hunting spots.image

  • And I don't agree if RO is categorized as MMORPG. It's only MOG for a sake! There's no RPG at all in the game. All you can do is hunting, looking for cards, gathering zeny, or just having chat with a bunch of other players who feel bored.

I think they should revise the usage of word MMORPG. UO is MMORPG, Horizon is MMORPG, RO? You can't even name your character using space or open other players paperdolls and everyone basically look the same.

It does have some point for making you play RO, the graphic especially the water is cool. But after a while, you will feel bored. And need to be level 6 just to sit my ass down? imageimage

RO is a ok game..but gets boring at a high lvl....

This game is fun, but I am not going to pay for it with so many bots camping aroundimage. If only it is not so laggy......

The Best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time.

For me, the thing I hate about this game seems to be the one thing people like, and that's its simplicity. This game is really about community, because lets face it the combat is mind numbingly simple. If you want an interesting forum in which to chat, this game might be for you. If gameplay is your primary concern, don't bother.

  • //\//\oo//\//\oo Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 2,767

Indeed it is awful. It is horribly awful. Why? Few classes. Shoddy GAMEPLAY (no complexity, hit or spell, no buffs, etc.) And you'd think that it's oldschool gameplay would perhaps redeem it if it were not for the GRIND. The most ridiculous grind I had ever experienced having only played AO before I had touched this vial stuff. Could have been something decent.

This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.

  • I personally dislike anime games, in my opinion they're all the same thing with a ton if icing to make it L@@K different. Ragnarok is a great example of this image. I have played the dang thing and no, I wouldn't pay to go back. This game, to me, was a long grind for skills and I don't find very much entertainment in that. This game is otherwise pretty good, but definately not worth the monthly fee.

BTW Thorn, your subtitle hints disturbing things about your personality... not the dogs, the one where a picture is supposed to be. image Honestly, get a life.

    Games worth looking at:
    Morrowind and all the expansions
    Anarchy Online
    Wish
Everquest and any of its decandants
    Daggerfall (Good 'ol time-wasting 2D)
    Neverwinter Nights and the expansions
There are more but i've seem to run out of space :P

  • CleffyCleffy Member RarePosts: 6,414

This game is really about preference. It is different and diverges from the base concepts of an MMORPG set by Everquest.
The primary concern about the game is Socialization. Unlike most mmorpgs where you can leave a town and not be seen for days, in Ragnarok it is incredibly difficult not to run into players. And it is even more difficult not to be able to communicate with them. Ragnarok Features many easy to use Communication methods including showing emotions; the actual chat bar doesnt block out the game like in many other games; and the 3rd person perspective allows an easier method of clicking on people and sighitng them. The 2d-graphics help more people log into the server at the same time.

Gravity itself is a very dedicated company now that they fired the GMs that didnt do anything and converted their operations to an old Biotech company. The Actual game data is like fort knox with more security then any other game on the market. With its last incident happening several months ago as they were adding more security to thier network and thier was a small glitch that opened up the servers for the attack.
Gravity perm bans accounts/ and IPs for botting now at a rate of 20 per day, as well the game is ever expanding at the fastest rate in any mmorpg today. They also monitor popular auctioning sites and ban accounts currently in auction. Lets not forget their incredible blow on the private server community when the forced the main site of the private server emulator to be the official euRO site.

To give you a perspective of how large iRO is, someone actually measured it and its larger then Delaware.

So if you like to be chatty and not so techical and in a constant race for power, then this is definetly a great game to play. It can definetly use what all mmorpgs are missing, mini-games. Which they actually planned but had to take out due to some hypocrasies that may become issues later, such as a full gambling system.

  • I played the free trial three times. The only problem is that I dont want to pay for this game if I could spend the money towards paying for FFXI.

Otherwise I think it is a fun and addicting game. Like with most north american servers for asian games the community is great, and its just alot of fun + easy to pickup and play. The eye candy is fun and doesnt really get stale. Another unexplained asian success.

  • WargoleMWargoleM Member Posts: 47

jeese its not that bad yeh its a little hard to get into but once u go exploring and get used to it its ok.

personally i wouldnt pay for this game but i can see why some might bar final fantasy XI i would say its probably best anamie style game on the market...... people that like that sorta thing will play this game and it does have alot of features of games like lineage 2 its just a little more simple

but i must admit the community is kool!

This room... This bullet... There's a bullet for everyone... A time, and a place... An end to a cause, an alpha to an omega. So it has come to this, You know too much about me, I can't have that, Not even in my death.

Alrity, i am a huge fan of this game, played since alpha and it has kept me entertained. THey do update every week, even little updates. And as an answer to the quote above, you can put spaces in your name, and they are making more options to customize your characters more. This game has caught my attention more than any other game, and the progress they made is excellent. I agree the bots are maddening and everything, and trust me, Gravity is doing their best to stop this problem, but they can't do everything at once. They have quiet a bit of other servers to look after (Japanese, Korea, International, etc.) So they can't just consentrate on one for too long. Now though I haven't played iRO Since a week before Juno came to sakray, I can probably still say, they are improving it to meet a lot of gamers expectations.

I would just like to state too, if anyone has any questions on RO just ask me, I've been a huge fan since alpha, and I'm still that huge fan that i was, except this time they have 2-2 classes, 2-3 classes and skills, YAY! ^.^

Lol, no buffs? You must've quit right after boot, or at least before you had a chance to see an Acolyte or Priest. In which case you shouldn't be posting at all, much less about DEPTH.

Angelus raises party defense based on the Vitality stat. Bless raises Dex, Int, and Str of a character, and Doubles as a debuff when used on undead. Increase Agility... Well, c'mon you know what that does. Imposito Manus raises attack damage. Lex Aeterna allows double damage. Suffragium reduces casting time. Magnificat increases Regen. Gloria raises luck. There's PLENTY of buffs. Jezis.

This is CreativeName's fancy schmancy sig. Let the 'ooh'ing and 'ahh'ing commence... Now.

I found out about Ragnarok not too long ago on this site. So I went to their website. I checked the game features and screen shots and thought, hey seems ok old style mmorpg from 5 years ago. So I thought I could just download and then I check the payment page. I see that it costs $12/mo and I nearly fell off my chair. image $12 for this kind of game? I'd rather go back to EQ for that price.image I expected to cost maybe $5/mo or something like that.

  • PenguinGodPenguinGod Member Posts: 4

Yea I agree, 12$ is kinda high priced, but they have a lot of servers and what not so they have to keep it high enough till they get their other games outta beta (at least I believe that's the reason) Hopefully they will lower them cause, even I've been playing since Alpha, this is my fav game, but I can't pay the high price lol. But it's a great game all in all I love you...I'd say at the most it should be 10, but still thats a little...meh!

  • //\//\oo//\//\oo Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 2,767

    Ok... I'll be specific:

I only find that a game has enough buffs if for each profession:

    # buffs >= 1

And for each "support" profession such as aco/priest etc. there are >= 10 buffs ( >= 3 concurrent buffs) which can be attained, and these are only a subset of the total number of buffs (which should range around 20-30).

I played when the set of char classes available was all except for monk/crusader etc.

Guildwars is in alpha and necro and monk classes had >= 20 each >.<, (those were only the lvl 15 buffs ,and lvl cap is > 40!)

I am sorry, but if you have such a horribly bland world with terrible graphics that is going to cost you >= 12$ a month, then you had better compensate with exceptional gameplay.
