Burning Crusade is out, bye bye Vanguard

Its too funny, I pass up a living breathing nice picturesque world for a more artistic world (WOW). Sorry Sigil you're not getting my dollars. Do yourselves a favor Sigil work on art, combat animations, spell animations, emotes, voices, etc etc. No way you are going to make the game work better or change all of the combat animations etc etc by Jan 30th if you do than its a miracle. The world you created looks great but doesnt work great, blizz has something up their sleeves and its called artisitc value. You can keep your swaying trees, great vistas it just doesnt do much for gameplay sorry.

Blizzard should be given credit for putting out a very polished product. From the early reports Burning Crusades is very polished... for those that can log on.
The biggest complaint right now for them is getting ahold of a copy - and even if they do - to actually login. They are kind-of a victim of their own success. I certainly wouldn't want to be working for their customer support team for the next 2 weeks or so.
I do anticipate some angst to visit the forums for the next week or so though. There will be plenty of players that really love WoW - finally got a hold of a copy of Burning Crusade - but can't login! They'll be visiting that "love" on us.
I happen to like both games at the moment, but I am a hopeless mmo addict.
Speaking of the swaying trees in Vanguard, I think they sway just a little too much. I live in the Pacific Northwest and if I saw our trees swaying like that, I would start running.
Anyhow go back to Wow if that makes you happy.
i hate wow, but i must admit soe is dumb for rushing this game out against BC. right now wow is a monster no other game can
compete against. better they waited 3-4 months to launch when wow fans are bored.

It's too funny, I pass up a repetitive cartoony world for an impressive fantasy world that gives you the freedom to do anything (V:SoH). Sorry Blizzard, you're not getting my dollars anymore. Do yourselves a favor Blizzard, quit spoonfeeding gamers from a bowl of easy/mindless gameplay, stop the raid treadmill, balance your classes, etc etc. Sure Vanguard has its tweaks to work out but it's shaping up more and more every time we beta testers log on. The world Blizzard created looks great but when the novelty of the cartoon universe wears off it's tough to get immersed in it. Ol' Sigil has something up its sleeves and it's called realism. You can keep your cow jokes, headbanging undead, gnome mages that gank in ogrimmar, barrens chat, kiddies chasing people down and begging to duel, pallies that run into cities then bubble/hearth, the list goes on and on, none of which does anything for fun gameplay.
Over and out ( to a MASSIVE world to explore, water as well as land, and to my new half giant, or dark elf, or goblin, or any of the many many playable races).
I am a long time player of WoW, have 3 x 60th toons, 1 was raiding BWL before I left.
I won't be buying the expansion for WoW, instead my money is going on Vanguard, not only do I believe its a good game (bugs aside) but it has a huge amount of potiential.
I am sure I will be in the minority, 8 million verses th 500k Sigil want for VG.
WoW isn't a bad game, its enjoyable to play but I want more and most likely if it wasn't for VG, I would still be playing WoW.
I recognise certain games appeal to certain people, I just wish some folks (like the OP) would do to.

Why would Blizzard do any of that? They are extremely successful with what they've done. They don't need to hardcore it up for their audience.
Personally I'm waiting on buying Burning Crusade until I play Vanguard for a few months. If I grow tired of VG like I did EQ2, then I'll pick it up. I'd rather play the new game in town.
heh, thats a pretty bold statement, the OP's narrowminded view on WoW kinda just shows to me that he's your typical WoW fanboi. Im saying this from the point of view of a dedicated 15month+ WoW player who just quit recently, and being pretty respected and popular on my server, but WoW is not that super game people tend to believe. It is good but its not the end of Vanguard as you so clearly put it in the title of the thread. Vanguard is a whole different game than WoW with possibilities that WoW just doesnt have because its just not that type of game. WoW is a very basic game imo, not complex but addictive enough for hardcore gamers with raiding, they use things such as raiding to keep you playing long term for items, but after so many months and prolly soon to be years (if i kept playing) its pretty redundant. Vanguard gives more freedom, not being instance based but environment based. The way blizzard developed WoW is just to keep people subscribing, but its terribly repetitive. I see no point in expac BC, sure you get more skills, levels, and content, but once youre done witht hat you go right back to raiding, and after that back to whatever you were doing before BC, the same old redudant crap, which is Blizz just trying to keep you subscribing. Vanguard is a free environment, where gruoping matters, but soloing is also very feasible and productive. Its more of a family based game imo, you have friends you quest together with, you can raid but you have other options as well, whereas as WoW is very party based, you need to raid for gear, if you pvp you need a pvp grp for gear, puging is a very slow process. You have many more options in vanguard and variety, player homes for example, mount combat, huge world environment, crafting variety, and overall more customization. WoW just got so tired to me because since everything is raiding based you can be super geared but have someone equally super geared right next to you with your exact gear, whereas with vanguard there is a lot more "individuality" if you know what I'm assessing.
Vanguard kinda rubs off to me in a sense to SWG (before CU and the game going to crap). SWG is still the funnest MMO Ive played, before the CU and huge nerfs. SWG meets fantasy...is what VG is seeming to me. Anyway, The fact of the matter is WoW is a totally different game than Vanguard and it will just come down to players who like a monotone type of game will stick with WoW whereas players who seek something different than what you've seen LATELY, and just want something new they havent tried yet will try Vanguard. I have dedicated a lot of time to MMOs more than I'd like to admit and have seen most of it, I will be the guy trying something new in hopes for a change of pace. Ive played BC as well, it aint all that, still redundant as hell.
Wow is not a totaly different game than vanguard and as free spirited as you think the game is it actually places more limits on the players than WOW.
Also....
Wow and Vanguard are the same type of game (mmorpg stupid) except vanguard is marketed towards nerdy harry potter type kids and wow is marketed towards kewl ass dewds...either way it's a lose lose situation..............
Oh yeah forgot to mention now that burning crusades is out looks like vangaurd isn't even going to sell more than 2 copies per store location.

Does not seem to be a problem where I live either, I dropped by the Best Buy on the way home to pick up some new headphones and they had like 50 copies of the normal and at leas 10 of the CE out for sale. I really don't think they are getting the sales they anticipated and god knows the 'ol dog is not a fanboi of Vanguard

they should have no problem selling 8 million copies of TBC... yea right. lol..

I just can't do the Burning Crapsade or anything WOW. I've played that game out. Running through it's starter quests is like watching one episode of "I Love Lucy" over and over again 15 times.
I just cannot do this game.
My hopes are for a more serious game with WOW's simplicity and polish, but serious, not slapstick. Not sure anything like that is on the horizon.
To a more serious response , i fancied the artistics in WoW aswell but i do enjoy the VG ones aswell just in a different way and to be comparing thoose two based on that , well , it does sound slightly narrowminded to me.
Even thought about the fact that WoW's been out on the market for like what ,slightly over 2 years now ? and Vanguard's only about to be released, sure i'll agree on that fact that they should've waited awhile for a better outcome but hey that's the gaming buisness and after seeing the vast amount of effort and work they've laid down on the game under the beta , there's no doubt in my mind they'll be able to patch up this baby.
Oh , another thing , try to choose games not only as to the apperance of it , i mean there's stuff like , content for example aswell ?
Can't really say that this is a total bummer , just one less WoW preacher at release.

I'm really enjoying my Beta playing on Vanguard. That's pretty much it.
Some do have weird mentality here on the forums. First, there are people who enjoy multiple online-games and are neither fanboi or hater (both extremes display a lack of maturity, IMO). Second, some should not view a critic to a game as a threat to their life.
Well Well Well we got us another vanguard hating fool.why or why do ppl come on here to blast a game that is not even finished yet?
I wonder if many of them remembered when WOW first came out that game was not finish you could tell that by all the patches they had trying to make things right classes,zones,instances and even redesigned some of the mobs like the orges and so on., I know becuase i was there from day one crashes every 10 mins taking 10mins to walk about 10 feet due to lag. Fighting mobs that where 10 away from you but when they died they end up right next to you due to more lag. I say that to say even that game with all it success had and still have alittle problems. I been on wow for 2years 1-6-07 being my last day. I am very happy i got a beta key so i could really see that the exp was not for me it was just more of the same thing just in a different zones.Now when i got to lvl 70 and got my epic flying mount it was really fun but the more i used it,it just seemed like just a griffon i can control yeah
. Now i am not going to say that wow is not a great game it's just very repative and gets a little stale after a while but i will say this it's a game where just about anybody can pick up and play.
So i say all of that to say this if you love wow play wow if you love or like vanguard play vanguard after all it's your money do what you see fit with it and what makes you happy.
