Now about blizzard being not being an original company I got to words for you "get real"
who made the first true RTS videogame? How many blizzard games were consider a turning point in there genre? How many blizzard games were nominated for game the year?
Look up the answers for these 3 questions and tell me what you think afterwards.
Westwood.
One. Diablo. The rest have been finely polished refinements in established genres. I'd still argue that Total Annihilation bests any blizzard RTS ever made.
They didnt even create Diablo, they bought it a few months before it was set to be released. The dev team that was responsible stuck around long enough to make Diablo 2, but most of them jumped ship shortly after.
Oh, and I agree on TA. Probably the deepest and best RTS ever made. Its only real weakness was there were so many units it was impossible to make them impressive looking. The people looking for substance over style are not likely to care much though.

Wow, really? I didn't know... if it's the Mike O'Brien - Patrick Wyatt - Jeff Stain trio, they're at ArenaNet making Guild Wars :P

After Blizzard bought Condor (and Diablo, which was the game they were developing) they renamed it Blizzard North. The three you mention were key players in Condor/Blizzard North but they were far from the only ones to leave. Eventually they lost enough that they had to shut down Blizzard North and kill the project they were working on, which was rumored to be Diablo 3.
A few developers accepted transfers and still work for Blizzard, but any new Diablo 3 project is basically a new development team.
Hellgate: London is also heavily populated with former Diablo developers.
I'd like to say that there's another side of the coin which LordCaptain hit on.
You see, if you go into any number of other forums about other games, there's always a bunch of posts hating on whatever specific game it is. For example, in the Vanguard boards, or the WAR boards. The thing is alot of these threads are created by WoW fans who (for no seemingly good reason) decide they need to bash on any game that isn't their own. So I think alot of the anti-wow crowd is responding to the parts of the wow-crowd that have attacked their game of choice.
Personally, I think WoW is probably the best developed, most polished, and in general the best mmo out there. It's a great example of another milestone that we need to meet and surpass in MMO development. However, I don't play WoW myself, I find the game boring and repetitive. That's just my opinion.
So the question should be not only why do people like to hate on WoW, but also why do WoW fans like to hate on other games?
The thing is that although there is hate on any games forum, I think in general fans of the game take the easy way out like you yourself did and just say "jeez you must be a WoW fan". You don't know that this is actually true, it's just easier for you to lessen that person's hate or opinion by making that sort of biased assumption.
I don't see other haters on game sites and assume they are from WoW. I just assume they are close-minded, and there are people like that in every single game out there, you cannot deny this.
I think for the purpose of sticking to what this post is about I'm not going to look over the others..so here goes.
The world honestly, this whole planet is filled with strongly opinionated folks. The more opinionated the more stubborn and at times the more spiteful. It doesnt' help any that there are Fanbois of said current most popular game that bring the hatred out in people or cause some people turn away. It doesn't help that in said game with the current most population is going to have more of these righteiously opinionated people that are rude to people for no reason that causes hatred. These are only two small factors that have caused hate towards WoW in large numbers.
Some of it is people just like to bash on anything, some of it is from being slighted time and time again by Blizzard's tactics, or wrongly banned because Blizz just trolls through without evidence and bans people with X amount of gold even if that player really did earn that gold fairly.
In my case I like wow sometimes when I'm really bored and I want something mindless that im overly familiar with for the first 50 levels. The end game ticks me off its raid, pvp, or faction grind which is seriously boring out right to me. I seriously dislike wow when it comes down too no real ingeniuty compared to some games, there's nothing completely new on the table that other games havent' done first.
It doesnt' really matter what the game is, whatever game has the most hype or the most populace is going to earn the most scorn because people are watching that community and game company more than any other.

People seems to have issues with WoW. It seems to be the only mmorpg that everyone seriusly hates on. Im not taking sides but im just curius. For the longest time i thought it was just that people thought WoW got more credit then it deserved but im not sure. Once again im not taking sides. I think WoW is a good game, but i also think that its not something super speical. So I ask you to please not make hate remarks like.
Don't worry it's all a CONSPIRACY plotted by the NHK...

So after looking this up, you are absolutely right. Blizzard did buy Diablo II when it was half way through development. Thanks for teaching me something I didnt know.
So I read this article that describes why blizzard has made design decisions to making warcraft, to getting Diablo, to delaying starcraft .... Its an interesting read, and after reading it I actually have a ton of respect for Blizzard. Its pretty obvious now why thier games are so well made.
I never cared for the Warcraft world, not even in the strategy game versions. My brother who is still a huge fan of the game bought me a copy of WoW at release and I played it for the free thirty. I loved the game Opinion coming up - I just could not get into the world which seemed very silly to me <---- that was a opinion. However on that note I will never put the game down, it just was not my style. I think Blizzard did a great job with the game and put the fun back in MMORPG's.
I would just like to thank all of you for your posts on this. You all gave great ansers that helped me alot. Id also like to thank you guys for not making this a bash post. It Pretty much makes sence to me now.
