Official don't buy VG for a couple months thread

I'm gonna pre-order because I've fallen in love with the cleric class (I'm a sucker, I'm afraid I can't resist the temptation) but I agree with people who say it really needs a couple more months. Probably 2-3.

Lovers and haters are generally agreeing on this so let's get the message out.

Like I posted on a similar thread... if no one buys it for 2 or 3 months..don't count on it being around to be fixed.

I'm buying a copy as a show of support... (and I'm pretty bored with everything else out there atm)

I won't buy this game as long as raiding is enforced in any way.  No matter if it is at release, in 3 months, in 10 years...although in 10 years this game will be outdated bradly!

Yea, the only part who wins on people buying a game that should still be in development is the provider, which in this case is SoE. The developers lose since they can't use debug beta and the customers lose because they get a buggy game. The only right thing to do in such a case is to punish the provider by waiting until the game is good enough for actual release to buy it.

I'll probably end up waiting a couple of weeks or a month, who knows.  I just got BC and I really wanna get past level 25 this time, lol.  But I'll keep my eye on the progress of this game.

I have only been playing Vanguard since Beta 4.

Do I agree that the game is not ready for release? YES

Do I agree that the game is being rushed? YES

DO I agree that the game has way too many bugs and needs polish? YES

Will I buy the game and play it during the Pre-order? YES

I am getting the game because I enjoy it enough for now at its current version and hoping that it will just get better from here.

I enjoy it now so thats enough for me.

besides, I need soemthing to fill my time while I await for WAR or soemthing better to come out.

Ive all ready pre- ordered because i like the game and i to want to support sigil in there efforts to make the game better , Bugs dont really bother me much as long as there trying to fix them and at the end of the week all have my new top of the line rig so preformance isnt an issue with me , it was time for it anyways But forsure the game is not ready yet do i care nope not in the least lol

Plus all have some buddy keys so if anyone does want to check it out after a few months all be happy to give them one

I like the game enough to buy it, knowing the truth is important, its not ready but I think its playable.

getting to play a few lvl 30 toons helped me in a big way, this is an involved game the list of commands for just a lvl 30 dread knight shows its not going to be easy to play, might get away with mashing 2 buttons for easy grinding but for PvP or higher lvl PvE Im gonna have to think.

I will be picking up my preorder tonight and cancelling EQ2 as well.  I admit that if I still liked playing EQ2, or another game, I could wait and see how VG turned out in a few months.  Fact is all the other games I have played are kinda boring and repetitious.  VG fits what I've wanted, bugs or no bugs.

Just not worth my time anymore.

I didn't mind VSoH for the time I got to Beta test it.  I actually really liked some of the things about it.

But, right now, I can't see myself getting the game.  Even in a couple months.  Until they put a hell of a lot more polish on this game, added all the features they originally promised, and made sure there is enough content for each continent, I'm not going to even look at Vanguard.  It just doesn't seem plausible that they'll get all this done in a couple months.  Maybe 6, I don't know.

I've suffered through buggy launches before, but I don't have the patience for it anymore.  You can blame WoW (or even CoX) for that.  Plus, I won't pay and/or stay based on the promises of MMO Devs anymore.  Either show me the content, or come talk to me when you finally put it in.  I'm not paying for your Beta test anymore.

I know that sounded harsh, but I've become /very jaded/ when it comes to MMOs lately.  I'm sure I'm not the only one out there.

I need to upgrade first but I am buying it  just to show support for innovation such as a game with no download screens when traveling. I think this game is going to catch on later this year.   I want them to survive in a big way!

If thats your logic you should be buying Asheron's Call since it was the game that came up with all these "innovative" concepts.  Just realize that your not just supporting concepts, but your also supporting developers who would charge you for unfinished products.  That my friend is not a good trend.

It's 1998 and we are experimenting with Ethanol fuels - it costs about the same but may overheat your engines and give you less power and slightly lower fuel economy. Once its polished up - your truck performance will really shine ! The cool thing is we can mod your engine now to take the fuel so by the time the technology is perfected this investment will really shine.

You just have to pay us for research costs of this fuel....while you are filling your tank with it on daily basis.

Does it make any sense to a reasonable person to pay someone for something clearly inferior with a *hope* it will get better ? This is not an investment you are making here people - it does not grow.

Shadowbane had great opening sales but lost almost everyone because it was unready. I would rather VG had slower sales and better longevity. There's enough people who will buy it already. The problem is people who buy it and don't know what they're getting into, they'll quit.

I'm even a bit more jaded than this.  Give it 6 months to a year for added content plus promised features.

Is that the best you can come up with. i was hoping you would offer to pay for my next gaming fix, move on pal your not going to convince anyone not to get the game if they want to

I gave Horizons three months after release to straighten out . It never did and I vowed never to buy another game on "potential" wait for the free ten day trial, I would wager they will have one within the first three months.

    I miss DAoC

I've pre-ordered, but I'll say that if you want a more refined game that doesn't have overloaded newbie areas for two weeks straight, by all means, wait 2 months.  All you're losing is a race, which MMORPGs aren't supposed to be.
  • TherosIronTherosIron Member Posts: 24

waiting 3-6 months to see if the game survives or dies.

No way will i fork out on a box only to find the game still has its beta issues and have to wait for em to be fixed.

Pretty much the way I feel about it. VG is an okay game as far as being EQ2.5 (just my opinion, no flames needed). It is just not bringing anything new that would make it worthwhile to pay to play beta while they say they'll fix it. So far, what Brad/Sigil hyped and what they finally delivered are two very different games. I'll look at it in a few months. If the supporters are correct (and if there are enough to make it fiscally viable for SOE not to pull the publishing), I may give it a try.

    Edit for spelling

Funny enough, you may be planning on holding off on Vanguard for a couple months, but for many of you are going to get dragged in earlier by guild members/aquaintances.  There'll then be quite a bit of foot-in-mouth disease for those who lambasted the game before getting over the initial adaptation hurdle.  Vanguard is really a pretty stellar product, bugs and incompleteness aside.
  • PoldanoPoldano Member Posts: 244

I really think the bulk of people should hold off.

I want to get a house someplace I like, and I don't need the competition.
