I think around 500k, Sigil have said its a magic number for them, what they would be happy with.

Start lighting fires, we need to burn these trolls so they stop regenerating the same old crap.

I dont think Vanguard will ever break 250,000 accounts persoanlly. What do you guys think?
Why do you care? Go away troll.
How was this a troll post?
I think its fun to speculate, while waiting for the servers.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that within the next 6 months we'll know the answer to this until then, we won't. Earthshattering information I know and now my crystal ball is on a cooldown for the next 2 hours and I won't be able to use it when I login to Vanguard this morning.
I think 500k is a fictional and unreachable number for a while. To much bad press and all the forums are ablaze for the most part. I think 200k is doable and they should be happy with that. See everyone online in bout 20 minutes
Funny how you liken stupid forum posts against Vanguard by haters as "bad press." About 1% of people who play MMO's even know this site exists.
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
There is no reason that it could even come close to EQ. It start with a completely new franchise, it doesn't bring something peoples want a LOT (aka PvE servers where new with EQ, now every game has a PvP, a PvE and a RP server, even WoW has that). The company is NEW and has never proven itself (aka, it is NOT Verant).
It is all related to the DESIGN of the game, raiding...nope...the peoples who enjoy raiding, they are been catered in EQ, EQ2, WoW...this new game is giving 80% of the endgear to non-raiders; in fact alienating both, peoples who want this raiding enforcement and peoples who don't want it. On a road, walking in the middle is not a good idea. If everyone walk on 1 side, it is better to walk on the other. For peoples who don't want raiding-enforcement, 20% is not acceptable anymore than 100% or 1%.

Lets see... another pve grindfest that maybe 1% of MMORPG players are even able to play due to high rig requirements... TBC is just out and going strong... LoTRO, G&H, Spellborn are coming out in few months... WAR and AoC within a year... i would say 50k-100k.
Vanguard will have millions of subscribers. It's much better designed than WoW. It has a good feel and it's much more rich in its environment. It will be a few months before the polish is really finished though so don't expect to see big numbers start coming until the 6 month mark.

This doesn't take a top of the line rig anymore. That ended towards the end of beta 5. LoTRO is so bad they're trying to get people to pay $200 for lifetime subscriptions before they even see the game(Big red flag). Spellborn is a novelty act that will only draw a small minority. Quest only EXP... jeeze i sure hope they alot of unique quests or it's just DDO all over again. God and Heroes... will it really come out? I wouldn't mind trying it if it does but i have little hope that it will seriously amount to anything. AOC just got delayed again and i doubt any game that touts as many new idea claims as this one. I bet only 20% of what they are promising makes it in the finished game and it's release will be mid to late 2008. WAR? well it looked like it had a long way ot go when i played it. I doubt it will have a large subscriber base.
The problem with games like AoC and the sentiment of let down that comes from some Vanguard bashers is the simple fact that if it hasn't been done before then nobody knows how to do it. So it's best when you're reading a developers website and they announce all these new ideas to have a skeptical approach. Look at games such as Dragon Empires (vaporware), Imperator (vaporware), DnL (atrocity) and Mourning. All these games claimed to have these revolutionary ideas to make their game different but in the end they couldn't figure out how to implement them. There are even ideas from the Sigil devs that they can't figure out how to implement that were supposed to go in the game. They hope to get them in one day but who knows if they'll ever get the code working.
Vanguard will need about 6 months to polish up and get right. Then the MMO world better take heed.
actually your all looking at this from the wrong perspective...even if it hits 200k people the game will be packed...why...cause theres a very small amount of servers...which will lead to a very healthy community with a large population
personally i see it doing about 200-250...anything more is great. even with 150k i think it is very healthy due to the low number of servers
Originally posted by paade Originally posted by Copeland WAR? well it looked like it had a long way ot go when i played it. I doubt it will have a large subscriber base.
i have to remember to quote you on this again after WAR release
Yeah maybe i'm forgetting how popular pvp is.. oh wait pvpers are just a vocal minority.
I remember the vocal pvp community for Vanguard saying how popular pvp is and that any game today should have pvp. So Sigil opens up PvP servers and what do you know.. they sit at about 1/3 the pve population.
In EVE the majority of subscribers avoid pvp at all costs. i'd say only about 35-40% of the EVE world is hardcore 0.0 pvpers
WAR is all about pvp. Therefore it won't appeal to the majority of gamers.

I think it'll break 300,000 and probably go upwards of 500,000
As for beyond that, I think it's too early to say.
