    1)  It looks awesome,

    2)  I have yet to hear anything but good things with the exception of trolling dinks (I'll sure one will pop up in this thread), even though its in full media-access beta, and

    3) there really isn't anything else to play right now.

World of Warcraft is as close to the old U.O. as one could hope to get.  With all of their implimentations and such I have yet to hear a single bad thing about this game.

Sure, it's a ways off yet but from the reviews, the screen shots and the NDA LIFTED BEFORE OPEN BETA is just astounding.  Goes to prove that Blizzard is always one step ahead of other companies.

This game is so polished even in Beta that people are amazed, so thus... it builds even more hype from the person behind this monitor.

Those are most of the reasons why people want to play it (including me).

I want to play WoW, cause like most of the others I am a big fan of Blizzard games. I love the graphic style of Warcraft in general and WoW looks even more amazing to me. I love the Warcraft Universe and the story of it. Blizzard is known for great games, good balancing, lots of fun, no boredom.

I cant wait to have a look at WoW, but I am from europe that means still a long waiting time for me.

I must say that from the beginning when WoW was first introduced, I was not interested.  I have played every game by Blizzard, especially the Warcraft series, and I really liked them.  World of Warcraft didn't seem like the setting I wanted to be a part of in a mmorpg.  Although the art is nice, I prefer more realistic graphics and art.  The setting is interesting, but I am more a fan of Dark Age, medeival settings.  I was, and still am, really looking forward to games such as Everquest II and Dark and Light.  However, being the mmorpg'er that I am, I had to explore and read more about WoW.  After just a few articles, previews, and visits to the website, my feeling toward WoW have changed.  I know Blizzard makes games the right way, but that is not what is changing my mind, it is the fact that everything I look for in a mmorpg is being incorporated into WoW.  At first I read about the quests and the interactive, dynamic world, etc.  Now the little things are really catching my eye, from character customization to background storys.  The A.I seems like it may be the best in a mmorpg to date.  of course, all of these thing I have just read, I applied for beta but haven't gotten in, so I will have to try WoW before I can say I want to play it.  But I have gone from completely not interested to very interested and even hopeful that World of Warcraft will impress me enough to play it and make it the mmorpg I can call home for years to come.

i'm a huge blizzard fan, and plan on buying and playing any game they make. Also if you are looking for a diablo mmorpg, than check out guild wars, its made by former blizzard employees. Plus the quest system, rest system, item system, you know what the whole game is gonna be great.

it has probably best graphics ive seen in mmorpg so far...you dont see it from screenshots but when you walk in huge forests and hills in game you understand what  i mean ;)

Even though I played UO for about twenty minutes before deleting it - because of the horrible interface - I agree about what is stated in the second sentence. And if what is stated in here has merit then the title is making the genre take a step back not forward.

Every game to me is great until I play it. Thus I want to play every game and draw a conclusion. However, I do not trust the reviews coming from the beta users because the game is still in Beta and the fact most of them are fanboi's. So whatever they say is biased in some way or another. In actuality WoW looks to do nothing to differentiate itself from others, everything is polished but not original.

    Reasons:

    1. It's a Warcraft MMORPG

    2. Races

    3. Tradeskills

    4. Throwing Weapons

    5. Amazing Eviroment/Scenery

Personally I'm not interested due to the fact they lost me as a fan and a good customer a couple years back when the game was suppposed to be released, I've heard nothing but release dates from Blizzard about the game, now that the game is finally in beta and will be hitting the market sometime, I have already found another game and honestly it is more superior.

Well, if you are really put off by pushed-back release dates, all I have to say is. . .good luck finding a mmorpg. Its almost standard practice to push back a mmorpg these days, especially a major one, nevermind FPS's like HL2.

    Some of my reasons are:

    1) Blizzard never made a bad game, their games are always pretty balanced, well thought out and better than other games in that genre.

    2) Blizzard have removed most of the boring lvl grinding and you don't have to kill same mob over and over in same place to lvl.

    3) They trying to set up rules against griefing to minimize it.

    4) All classes can solo, grouping is faster for xp tho.

    5) Several fun tradeskills and looks like a good tradeskill system.

    6) Good graphic, abit cartoonish/animated but looks really good in the world.

    7) Whole world changes alot depending on where you are, from night elves homeland with huge trees and cute animals to dwarven mines in the mountain, covered in snow, to big deserts, every landscape have a special atmosphere that are really nice.

    8) All diffrent races move in a diffrent way, with diffrent animations.

I just hope they come up with some good PvP, they have every possibility in the world with the storyline and war between Horde and Alliance, if they manage to get good PvP going but only for those that want PvP, then it will be awsome.

One of my first forays into the pc gaming world was Warcraft. They will always have my heart for creating such wonderful games.

one of my first forays into console games was Final Fantasy 2. Which is why I am and will always be a Square/Squaresoft/SquareEnix consumer wh*re. :)

I'll play because of the aspect of the game, though unless they change there rest system I see a quick dwidling of number's VERY fast, not only does the game not appeal to power gamers, it hinder's to even the casual player on a level too..

  • BabyJesusBabyJesus Member Posts: 33

Here's the thing. I'm in the WoW beta right now and I have also played DAOC, AO, AC2, FFXI, Neocron, EVE (still am), Lineage 2 and CoH

All the games up there that I listed I have been playing since open beta or release... so they've all been more "complete" then WoW since WoW is still in closed beta.

But lemme tell you, not ONE of those games has the depth that WoW has.. DAOC has more options but it's been out for 4 years .... but it's still not that far ahead though.. come release time, WoW might even surpass it

The game is simple to learn yet deep and hard to master.. the grapics are BEAUTIFUL.. I'm not a fan of cartoonish graphics but when they look good, they look DAMN good.. Lineage2 might look more realistic, but being the CPU hog that it is and not being able to have more then 30 people on the screen without <10 FPS, it's gonna get REAL annoying when you do any large scale pvp.. and that IS what the game is about right?

Anyway, back to WoW.. it doesn't really re-invent anything drastic.. it just does EVERYTHING right.. there's MILLIONS of quests and you CAN level of them.. my highest is a level 16 so far and I've never had under 5 quests going on at once and right now I have 10+

And it's really silly to be pissed about the game because it's release date has been pushed.. first, if you're pissed about this and you claim to be a Blizzard fan, you're a deadbeat liar

EVERY game that Blizzard has made has been delayed for at LEAST 6 months.. Starcraft was delayed damn near 2 years

Quality is what they stive for and a buttload of it is what they're delivering.. you may not think this game will be good, but believe me, come release time, this IS what you'll be playing

    That's a lie.

First, I'm in between casual and powergamer and it doesn't bother me one bit. You people all seem to forget one thing. When you're more rested then normal you get a BONUS

Everyone is pissed as soon as they go from Well Rested to Rested... oooooooooh.. now instead of getting 200% exp I'm only getting 150% .. whine whine bitch bitch change this or I'll quit

whatever man.. I played 6 hours yesterday and went from Rested to Normal.. and even then, at normal, that's 100% of xp. that's the NORMAL... so yes if this bothers you, you are a loser powergamers if you're complaining about this you need to do the following

    a) go outside
    b) get a life
    c) find a hobby

Brand: Best track record to date (WC3,SC,D2,D1)

    Promises: Subset of brand

Competition: If blizzard delivers the same quality that they have for the past 10 years....

is crap : (UO: outdated), (AO: Ghost town), (DAOC: old), (CoH:Eh), (Lineage 2: Wow all three classes to choose from!), (Guildwars: Shrouded in mystery, ncsoft has made crap -.- so even if it looks awesome... im crossing my fingers), the rest seem like utter crap (and from what I have heard ffxi is crap as well..... of course I had the self-control not to spend 50 hard earned american dollars/euro  and 14 a month (since it will inevitably become 10$ and 10$ look at SL for christ's sake)) what else is there >.<

    Synapsis:

Blizzard is most probably going to dominate the rpg/mmorpg market unless guildwars corners both markets with it's no monthly fee strategy.
