We all know that the community in Vanguard is top notch, the world is beautiful, the game is great now and has the potential to become even better. Why all the hate? I've seen more posts trying to bash the game in any which way. Most of the time, these are spawned by a one time occurance. Think of it like walking down a sidewalk in a new neighborhood and someone shouts out their car window, "Go home!" Does this mean everyone in that neighborhood thinks this way?
(For all of you that support Vanguard, feel free to post, and keep it alive. I'm tired of seeing hate thread titles posts on the main page with Vanguard next to the name. Don't even comment on them and let them die.)
...call it a social experiment.

I have to agrre evrything i have seen from vanguard looks yummy, and in all honesty i only found out about it a week ago while checking random developments, ordered it straight away disregarding the hate and flames,
Opinions are like bellybuttons, everyone has one and they all smell of cheese

Personally I think all the haters are just because of a couple reasons, 1) they hate anything with the SoE label on it, 2) They play another game and think their game might be challenged 3) they play another game and want to bash any game that isn't theirs.
There's a small fraction of the haters I dont' understand. Like Jackdog, who will deliberately lie and mislead people, and shout at the top of his lungs about this or that, except that it's really nothing he's just blowing out of porportion in order to try and troll against the game. Then when someone calls him on it, he changes topics and acts like nobody ever found out the bullshit he spouts. Why? I dunno, I guess there'll always be pathetic trolls who hate this or that for some unknown reason.

I have been playing VG since BETA 5 and the amount of progress the game has made in only a few short weeks is incredible. Sure there are bugs, but the game is already amazing in graphics and detail and game play. Fixing the little annoyances will only make it better. In my experience, the haters are usually the players that have been playing a game that was released years ago, one that has been patched thousands of times.
If you are an MMO player, this game is definitely worth checking out.
Some of us were waiting for the next gen game we were promised. And some of us took it hard when it didn't arrive.
you can't go back...even in a video game. Progress is forward thinking.
"One word, Thundercougarfalconbird."
Thats not true. I haven't played it and I know a ton of people who haven't played the game that don't fall into those categories. I might give the game a shot, although I don't know if my PC can run it. There are a ton of MMO players who will never even try the game and it has nothing to do with being anti raiding, SOE haters, or wanting the genre dumbed down. A lot of Brad's "Vision" turned people off to his games in general. Also, after playing games that have been fun people don't want to go back to what they think won't be fun.
Now as I said I haven't tried it and in no way am I bashing the game. I will probably try it out eventually. Since I have tried pretty much every single MMO out there since UO.
Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)
The game is definately not for everyone. There are a lot of things that turn of people for various reasons.
1. WoW-ers are not going to like it because it is much slower progress, there are lots of time-sinks, and navigation is more difficult. Like it or not, any MMO that emerges on the market today is immediately going to be compared to WoW.
2. Anyone without a newer computer and high-quality graphics card is not going to be able to run the game. And if they CAN, it's going to look absolutely terrible on low settings. Most people don't want to buy a new computer just to play a game.
3. People who have followed this game for over a year may be put off by several things that were promised not living up to their expectations. The diplomacy system is not what most were expecting. There are a couple classes missing. Heck, you can't even see helms on characters yet...
4. And yes, some people think SOE is the devil. Just because they are hosting/publishing the game, people assume they are in control. Not a very informed decision, but oh well...
So, there are many reasons for people to dislike the game and speak ill of its future...
I too said I would not play another game that SOE had anything to do with after the totally screwed up SWG with NGE. I have played WOW for well over a year now and leveled to 70 and I am just plain bored with the game. I hope that VSoH will have the depth that SWG had Pre-CU/NGE and WOW doesn't have.
So far I am not dissapointed. Its early days yet but I think this game has great potential.
The game was running so bad on my system in beta 4 that I quit playing. It was like a slideshow and I had a AMD 4200 X2 with 2gigs of Ram and a 7900Gt. I was about to give up because the slideshow like graphics were so bad I couldn't enjoy the game. I went back for the three day trial because I had already joined a guild and felt guilty to just quit after 3 years of following the game anxiously. It was suddenly great! Stable, less laggy, better FPS, and I began to enjoy the game because I wasn't focusing on the showstopping lag. It really is an incredible game. It is unpolished but if Sigil can make that much progress in a few weeks pre-release then I will give them the benefit of the doubt that more improvements are coming.
I look forward to seeing flying and sea combat in the future, and new continents, classes and races. I look forward to that 4th high lvl continent that was mentioned briefly and will probably become the first expansion. I don't want to be first lvl when all that stuff comes just because I waited on the game till it got "finished". I agree with the OP....Freakin' Awesome. A diamond in the rough.
Im not a fan, this is my opinion.
unless something radical has happen the last months.
OT: Going to the store and get my copy of Vanguard. dunno if im gonna install it now or if I should wait few month.
My computer needs an first aid kit. 1yr old specs and an 6800XT that has an hard time with Oblivion.
Guess I'll be forced to buy a new graphiccard or wait until they optimized the code.

I do think that a lot of people just bash things because they like to bash things. Internet forums have kind of developed or reinforced some sort of flagrant and insipid hatred among "netizens", more so than the years before the Internet. Remember the old BBS and FidoNet/Compuserve days?
Game performance has improved GREATLY in the past ~2 weeks. With a machine less than the aforemetioned AMD+7900, I can play the game at the same time as recording FRAPS videos @25fps, and still maintain a 20-25fps rate in towns. It really is not that bad at all!
#2 is me. 15 - 20 fps just doesn't hack it. and like he says, that's on low settings so it looks absolutely terrible. i'm sure its my ATI Radeon 9800, but i'm not going to upgrade just for this game.
as for comparing the graphics to WoW, its two completely different styles. might not like the style, but they're still "good" and very detailed. it's like the best movie nominations for the oscars; i might not like any of the movies, but they are still "good" movies.
vanguard graphics just didnt do it for me on low settings. everything was two dimensional. the bushes would literally be flat, and just rotate as i walked around it. i mean, c'mon!
i'll go back to EVE til something blows me away and i can upgrade my computer.
oh, and not a fan of the supposed forced grouping. i didn't go that far, so i'm just going by what i've read here.
The comparison of WoW graphics to Vanguards can only be because of style preference.
To know how great the graphics are in Vanguard all you need to do is look down. The ground is highly detailed and bump mapped so when the moon or sun goes down it looks very realistic. Trees, characters, buildings, anything that is added to the base world can be changed or updated within reason. Everquest was able to revolutionize the look of EQ when PoP came out. Did any of the world mapping change?
Bottom line is that Vanguard from a graphical standpoint will be able to build upon it's game for years to come. It's not a flash in the pan game.
Just not worth my time anymore.

More lies Jackdog? You'd figure with all the trolling you do on this game, you'd know by now that it's Sigil and not SOE that is developing the game. Sigil is doing all the development, all the patches, all the content. SOE just handles the billing, the publishing, and the servers.
If the game were as bad as you say it is, then you wouldn't have to mislead people as to why they shouldn't like the game, would you?
