I am sorry serien but some of your info is incorect like for instance a gladitor doesnt change into a human gladiator. it changes into a duelist. But your guide is good either way... most of the info is correct. If you dont mind me asking but can i use this guide plus tweak mabey a little stuff and put it onto my Advice Page? I am asking you for permission. You will take full credit for it.

So from what it seems theres like 4 fighter type classes for each race - Tank, buffer, assassin, ranger.

Is it possible for anyone to say what is the best race for each of the 4 different fighter classes? Just as a ranking as i dont want to pick a poor choice of character :D

    Thanks alot,

    ChaZ

Ehmm Assasin is the sec. class with dark elf fighters, after that you can become a ranger or a dagger master ( Phantom Ranger, Abyss Walker).

Imo (means there a lot of other opinions) the Dark Avenger is the strongest tank, Human.

As for the buffers..hmm...Prophet has the best buffs imo, but isn't the strongest probably (buffers cannot match any other class most of the time, it's an assistant). For a buffer v. buffer fight i'd say a Shilien Elder wins (Dark elf).

For the ranged attack type fighters, the Hawkeye (human) will win. It has the most hp, the worst Dexterity (evasion , atk . speed), almost the most strength, and last but not least : Critical Chance up + Critical damage up, as a passive skill. Although an archer vs. archer PvP is just a matter of luck, critical hits.... are critical.

For the Dagger masters, the Treasure Hunter (Human) will win. Like with ranged type attackers, humans have the most hp, (unless there would excist an orc / dwarf dagger, which doesn't) , worst Dexterity , and crit dmg + crit chance. Then again, a pvp between a Treasure Hunter and a Plainswalker (L.Elf) can be very exiting.

This is based on my experiences, so there are alot of people out there who may have another opinion.

Great Guide!  This is one game you really need to do some research before wasting valuable SP or even worse, choosing the wrong class..

Is this class guide still current?

No, not quite. There are subtle but significant differences.

There have been a number of significant changes to the classes over the 3 years of L2.

The listed classes are correct for the 2nd class change quest class names. Each of those classes now has a 3rd class refinement quest. Essentially there are no more branches and the 3rd class quest is more of an ultimate class mastery and opens up some of the more specialised and "stylised" class skills.

Additionally there is the whole spectrum of subclassing, nobility skills and ultimately the struggle for Hero status which is not covered as it did not exist at the time of the post.

The general descriptions probably need a bit of a tweek as well, as there have been some overall systemic, skill, and item changes. Furthermore, some class concepts are now better understood by the players than they were at the time of the posting of the original class summary.

EDIT  - here are the PLAYER GUIDES from the offical forums. There is a TON of info there.

I'll keep looking around for a consolidated up to date class guide. If not I'll write up a new one which is based on the one posted here just to maintain the layout.

great job, thanks for the guide, I guess I will try Prophet,  hope the so- called powerful magic satisfies, being a human healer seems a lot of fun

this guide is pretty useless know, and a prophet is not a healer, read abit more about the classes somewhere else

    Not really no :)

That was probably the status at release.

I havent played L2 a lot but it was already very different from this guide.

For example, NOBODY would have called the Gladiator an especially good PvP class, since they had no options whatsoever available to them - only quite decent defense and offense. Mage and archer would kill them ranged, Daggeruser and Tyrant would outdamage them in melee, Dark Avenger would probably stun them (Shield Stun is best stun in game) etc. I even heard once of a Shillien Elder who almost managed to kill a Gladiator, and as far as I can say, Shillien Elder is killed by really everyone else and easily, except maybe Bishop and Elven Elder.

And Destroyer - dont melee a Destroyer, EVER. You will be just so dead for sure - unless you are Destroyer too, of course. Best def in game and very high melee damage once they get below 30% HP (which is still a lot for a Destroyer) thanks to Guts and Frenzy, and if you choose to just run away (everyone can run away from them), they can heal themselves very well with their Lionheart stuff, so you're back to a fully healed Destroyer afterwards, while you yourself probably havent healed, so you have won nothing. Only melee class that might stand a chance is Shillien Knight because of their Lightning Strike (Paralyze), and their ability to drain health to restore themselves and retry.

Warcryer was the best, i.e. most general buffer class, but they could only buff the group, it took tons of mana (they where basically OOM after buffing), and it took quite a while to get their mana back. Prophet where not as good, but had this unique berserk buff for better damage, and they actually had some healing already, while asking a Warcryer for healing is a bit of a waste of time. Shillien Elder was the class that was most hybrid, i.e. both a healer and a buffer; they had Empower which increased spell damage and Vampiric Rage which returned melee damage as healing. Both Elders, and only those, could give Mana to spellcasters to keep them able to spellcast ad infinum. Elven Elders had some neat buffs but really only of toylike nature; they where second best healers after Bishops and had the emergency teleport of group back to next village; and, as already said, they could recharge mana just like SEs, basically able to keep 2-3 spellcasters at full mana all of the time (once they where highlevel enough, though, and only if the spellcasters had bothered to take the skill to get more mana from being recharged). Finally, Bishop where the specialized healers with Quickheal etc. Only got quite lowlevel buffs to improve the party, though.

None of them is. Thats what you change to after the second class change, at level 40. At level 20, theres the first class change. You can look that stuff up on www.lineage2.com.

overlord's buff's only apply to clan member's know and yes they usefull for siege's at high lvl's but they buff's are hardly usefull for 9 man group's for pveing, they also solo slow and pretty much no one want's em in party for pve not even clan member's...

they usefull for high lvl aoe group's tho 6x +...

then about gladiator they aren't godly but they certinaly not bad at pvp anymore with a speed increase skill and the abitly to 1 or 2 hit equal lvl robe user's and some leather people.
