Glad you can't get to max level in 3 weeks!

Why does a longer levelling curve automatically mean that casuals can't play? Are we expected to have ADD and won't play a game we can't max out in a few weeks?

I am a casual player and I am enjoying Vanguard. I don't care if it takes 2 years to get to max level, I am having fun playing. How fast do you need to max out a character? Is that the fun? For me, the journey and the friends I make along the way are the fun. Call me crazy.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  If anything, I think the levels in Vanguard come far too quickly.   In 1999, EQ took a heck of a long time to get levels.  I think the very first level 50 was, what, 6 months after launch?  Someone correct me.  Anyhow, he ebayed for a lot of cash; something like 25k?  It took my characters quite a long time to get level 10.   And I was quite happy to enjoy the content.  Right now, my 12th level shaman has passed up a lot of content because he leveled too dang quickly.  :(

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit

it does seem to level rather quickly, much faster than swg back in the day.. that being said at least theres a billion races and classes to choose from, I plan on having as much variety as possible.

There must. . .be. . .another class. . . some yet. . .previously undiscovered. . . .class. . .Perhaps. . .the classes go. . .from. . softcore. . .to casual. . .to hardcore. . .and many people don't. . .know, they are - softcore.

Couldnt agree more.  Im actually glad it doesnt level any quicker.  Theres alot to do at each level so far, and leveing slowly adventure wise allows me to keep up with crafting and other stuff.

Me too. I already have 4 alts I will surely have all 8 slots filled up within a few weeks. There are so many race/class combos it's fun trying different ones to see if you like them best.

dont forget that whether everyone likes it or not, WoW is the number one mmorpg out there at the moment, and the main reason it is, IS because of the user friendly, carebear leveling.

Plus with its expansion coming out, you gotta compete. Easy levelin is one of those ways.

Which is retarded, and all the game that follows the "wow-mainstream" should reconsider there decisions of game play.

I'm sorry but the point of a massively multiplayer game is to be better than the other players you compete against. That is the real reasonw hy people play games with other people, for better competition. If you don't make it easy to level then people who don't have enough time to play, BUT!!!! pay the same amount of money are being scammed. Even with easy leveling they are still being scammed becauswe they are not getting waht they paid for, which is a game where everyone has an equal chance.   Just give it some time, mmorpgs are still in the production phase of marketing, once they reach the marketing phase, there won't be one mmorpg with levels.

In eq I could get a 50 in one week. It's been done millions and millions of times. When they increased the level cap, someone got to 60 in a day. I played, i saw it with my own eyes so don't bs me and tell me i'm lying.

As others have said, it IS casual friendly, but not if you want insta gratification - quick leveling, easy loot. I find it very easy to play casually; to log on for an hour or two, do a couple quests and log off. However, it is not like WoW, where you can play casually and have all the uber loot and be highest level after a few weeks. But, I like that about this game...

I don't know how long it took on EQ but I think it was an FoH member, I t hink named Kalaran (rogue?)  I know he had an alt named Furor though, and got to level 50 on that in like 5 days using that old Naggy tooth to make a lv49ish pet...as a warrior.

I think this was on Veeshan server, I though although I vary rarely played on Veeshan back then.

All that old EQ stuff is like flashbacks.  Remember the Guide that flipped out and summoned people to Veeshan's Peak and made them bind there, and get killed repeatedly in a death loop?  I forget the name but I think it started with a "T".

    Ok your crazy.

but seriously  i sgree with you. I am also a casual player and am having a blast so far. The only thing I hope for is that in the later lvls I will still be able to be getting stuff done on limited time. If this game turns hardcore in the sense that it takes hours of prep, travel organizing aand what not just to start a dungeon and then another 6 hours to complete then I may have to look for another game, but as far as lvling curve im cool with that as long as I can continue to play in my 2 to 3 hour incriments.

The only thing I would personally wish for is some kind ok mentor or apprentice system for higher lvl and lower lvl friends to play together me usually being the lower lvl player.

p.s sorry bout the italics...seems to be stuck

Yeah, because as we all know, you can hit max level in WoW after only two weeks of casual play.

LOL. This is highly dependent on when the person actually started playing the game. Starting the game on day 1, nobody hit 50 in one week. I'm also calling bs on your claim that someone reached 60 once they raised the level cap. I remember those hell levels, so........ bs.

We all could max our level out in any game if we A) have the people to help B) really wanted too and C) had no life. All it requires is a large time investment.

    Regards,

    Regards,

Agree.  No chance on launch week.

Although I could probably PL a toon to 60 in a day by myself.

There is a point where no gamer can endure the pain of staying at the same lvl for ages, killing the same mobs for ages and the list goes on.

You need to give players something, it doesn't have to be very easy, but you have to give them something. So that those players also feel some sort of achiement and have some progress. That is the only thing that keeps most people playing. I'm afraid that Vanguard in the mid lvl's+ won't do that. And many "casuals" will quit because of that.

Ofcourse you can log on to a game and play it for 30 minutes. That is possible even with the most hardcore games. But that doesn't make it casual. Casual players also want to achieve something.

I disagree. If im having fun, it doesnt matter to me whether or not im gaining lvls or getting awsome drops. Equally if Im getting tons of lvls and great drops but not enjoying it ....then really whats the point

If you can't handle it don't respond.

    Peace...to the level master, mua.

See this is what i dont like, someone insulting a game with a comment like, you can get the highest levels and highest gear in two weeks.

You sir have never played WoW if you say that, some people took 2 freakin years to get all the best gear before the expansion.

Do you wanna know why? Because free content patches were being released every few months that added new quests, dungeons, some provinces were upgraded with more locations and things to do.

By the time a guild got all the best gear in a new high raid instance, another few were released months later. Blizzard added things before the expansion that would probably equal 3 of evequests expansion packs, and they were free patches.

Im one day into Vanguard, and im criticizing the bugs and lack of finish, but you dont see me bashing the game and making false statements because it makes my arguement look better.  When i say VG is unfinished, you cant debate that point because you know its true.

But when you say crap like you can get everything in WoW in 2 weeks, it makes you look like a doofus, not just a doofus, but a royal doofus that deserves his own throne.

A blood elf rogue got to level 70 from level 1 in 2 weeks. Its very possible as many other blood elves have achieved this.

Max level is a joke these days, back in the day it was done legitimately by a single person playing hard... now its done by groups running a single character with members of their guild helping them along. I'll be surprised if someone isnt max level in a few weeks.
