hey when it gets to 25 servers all with high lvls at prime time wake me ok? Then I will admit it is a decent game.

So its only a good game to you if over a certain amount of people are playing it...so basically your saying your a sheep.

    Bahhhhhhhh

If the game is good it will grow, make sense?  If it outgrows it servers they will add more. Myself I think it will settle in around 50 or 100 thousand max after ht efirst couple of months

    I miss DAoC

The game as it is now is slightly above average overall when keeping it in perspective with the present game industry output as a whole and I believe the majority of folks who have tried it or have shown interest in it feel this way. People tend to be less inclined to rate or review something that doesn't illicit strong opinions either pro or con. Of the 600+ people who did rate the game, I imagine the majority are in fact a minority of people who have tried VANGUARD and lean towards the pro stance because the game either meets or exceeds their niche tastes or they're in denial. I for one represent the middle and that's how I came up with a rating of 5.6 (I would actually rate the game about a 6.5 overall if I could go back and do the scoring again).

This site rank is hardly scientific. If you want a more accurate score, try randomly polling 5000 people who have tried the game, whether or not they're still playing it now.

For the record I'm playing VANGUARD and enjoying what I can from the experience, while cautiously hoping to see better things in the weeks to come.

Give it a few months to be played and actually rated with seriousness as opposed to those that are attempting to drive the ratings in a certain direction as of right now.

Agreed.  Right now all the Fans are rating it highly, the true average vote hasn't hit.

V:SoH being on top 7 highest ranking mmorpgs on this site says much more about what kind of people are hanging here than it does about V:SoH itself.

You're still here, peddling your nonsense I see. This is how you sound, just so you know, I'll put it in terms you will no doubt  understand : LOTRO will fail horribly because I say it will /sarcasm off.

PS : All servers are medium to high and my particular one was packed. The game will be a moderate success, you will be wrong and I will make sure to let you know it in a year or so when the facts prove that naysaying and doom mongering are a waste of time.

I gave this game a generous 7.0 for at least blending a more casual experience for lower level players, its a brave thing to do for a game thats promised to be hardcore, im sure it will get harder later on, but its easier to draw people in when things progress a little quicker at first.

The issue i have is the crashes, instability and stuck issues, graphic glitches, etc.

It drives me nuts because i have a decent computer, about a year old but top of the line a year ago, and it lags on mine, while a friend whos got a worse computer with worse specs is playing with less trouble.

I have a feeling its compatibility issues not just the power of the pc.

That's where its supposed to be because that spaced out EVE doesn't deserve it anyways.

well if your tring to compare this to WoW LMAO good luck.  To have 25 server with all high lvls takes WoW a month to get cuz of the carebare you have to be an infant not to get to 60 in a blink of an eye.  Vanguard is not so easilly gotten, the term WORKING for your lvls, equip and such is what is going to happen then.

Is this why there are already level 30 players, because its hardcore?

Its an ok game. quite buggy tried it out on my hubbys pc and  account as he is playing it and my pc needs an upgrade. Would give it about a 7 in its current state.

I wouldn't expect it to even have the possibility of 800k  subscribers untill around this time next year when the new 35nm intell is available the GF9xxx and such are out.  Thus making the C2D, GF8xxx series machine much more afordable to the masses.

Honestly they needed to streamline thier engine to run on more machines before release. As the video quality and lag on now medium/and lower  end machines is horrid.

I think there is a flaw with the attitude of, well their subscribtion base will increase next year when people have their comps upgraded. Later this year and early next year is when even more mmo's are going to come out to compete with vanguard, not only that, but many other single player games that people will be upgrading their computer for.

Nobody has enough patience to wait a year and come back to see if a game is better, online gamers are not that patient, and if they are its not the majority. If this game takes a year to get better then it was never worth it in the first place because it will already be a year behind of current games that are possibly better in performance.

Less than 100k people play Vanguard, making it a failure for a major title. So you can vote it a perfect 10 if you want. The rest of us voted with our wallets. Those are the votes that count.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Is it fair to claim you know the numbers after just a few days of launch? and the game not even being released yet in some stores.

Give the game time for the numbers to grow, or diminish. Usually after the first few months is a telling sign, the numbers either go up steadily, or sky rocket way down.

This happened to Lineage 2 after a few months, you will notice a huge difference if the game is even a moderate hit. But right now its to early to tell, come on! A game could be horrible and people could still play it. Look how long 500 000 people put up with EQ when it already went downhill.

LoL, maybe they'd be 50 in Vanguard if they didn't run out of high end content?

There were no level 60's in 2 weeks, a month yes, but not 2 weeks, so ah ha, busted!

Molten Snore wasint introduced till many content patches later, because people needed to do the smaller group raids before they actually could have a chance there.

See people look at the level and think thats it, but you needed to keep getting gear, and the gap between a 60 raiding lower level dungeons with pick up groups and 40 man raids with guilds was huge.

You didint stop gaining power at 60 because of all the crazy stat and special abilities your armor gave you.  I dont know much about Vanguard, but hopefully they copied this aspect too, cause i think its great.

Leveling should not be the end of the game, there is plenty to do, if leveling is all you enjoy, then thats fine.

There were lvl 60s within 10 days of WoW opening.

There is even a confirmed lvl 57 in 9 days on these forums.

It was actually 17 Days & It was a character run by a well known Gold selling site , actually they had 100 + lvl 60's in the first month  but thats to be expected  when the accounts are played 24/7 , I normal player  who might play 4 hours a day can NOT make lvl 60 that fast ..

  • vylovylo Member Posts: 149

And neither can a Vanguard player.  Not only do these guys have to stay online almost 24 7, they have to be grouped up and doing quests to maintain this breakneck pace.  WoW was doable solo if you were a hunter and knew the quest lines.

And I'm certain there were 60s before day 17.

  • vylovylo Member Posts: 149

    And I was right.

Confirmed the first 60 in WoW was 10 days in, a Shaman:

Does vanguard deserve to be near the top?  Yes.  Does it deserve to be the top?  No, and note that I play this game religiously.
The game has the POTENTIAL to be the best MMO and it is a good one, but there is no way a game released prematuraley and with this many bugs remaining can be the best.
This is simply a case of "the grass is greener on the other side".  Because it is new, people are all excited and aren't really comparing it as objectively as they can.
Give the game a month or so to iron things out and it might earn the title.  As of now it is overhyped.

I am in agreement here. While this game might have the potential, it certainly is not deserving of an 8.3 at this point.

While the scenery for the most part is great, there are a lot of other issues with it - such as the horrid animations, the pathetic npc dialog, the poor character models, the sad spell effects, the early (up to at least level 10) quests are nothing but the same old "kill x mobs", and it has the lore about equal to Tetris.

And I think it will take 3-4 months, not a month or so. This game was released too soon and there is still a lot of unfinished product here.

So while it may very well BE the greatest game, it ain't there yet.

On some servers it is also lag issues. On one of the Euro servers I am hitting 600+ ping constantly, and it often peaks out over 900. compare this to the 120-240 I get on an EQ2 Euro server (from the USA). I think they still have some issues with their network in amsterdam.

There is at least one level 33 in Vanguard already, 3 days after release. Not showing on the leader boards yet, they seem to be about a day behind, but in game I did a /w all 33 and one showed up.

I could not believe it.  Not that I disagree.  The game is everything they said and more.. but... If its so bad as all those people have been saying, how come its ranked so high?  You mean I was right all along? :)
It just a group of WoW fanbois flaming this game.
