I played this game on an off this weekend, and I would agree that VC is a gem in the ruff. There is alot of different things to do: high seas ship fighting (I got my butt kicked by six NPC pirate ship off some island near starting port, lol), on land fighting (reminded me of Silk Road and EQII), skills, crafting, and much much more.
The only things which I could see that need improvement were: some of the translations were weird, like every other Korean game it needs wasd movement keys (with custom keybinding a must for me since I'm left handed), some of the desert areas had zero content (which I assume they will be filling up in the near future). Other than that, for a free game, VC is a really neat game!
The random storm areas kick ass! My poor ship. If you're tired of all the fantasy games, VC is a great free alternative game.
One question...On the open seas, can anyone jump into my fights once I engage in battle? One guy did this to me and kill the pirate ship before I could fire a shot.
If you want to play a game that you can level up in a few minutes and reach maximum potential in a DAY, buy a nintendo/playstation, this game is not for you. IF however, you are a TRUE gamer and love mystery, intrigue, exploration, combat, pvp, commercialization, etc, THIS is the game for you. I currently pay for 3 Eve Online accounts and I gotta say, VOTC has turned my head admirably. Yes it's a little rough around the edges, but for someone with a working brain that loves a good puzzle, that's part of the experience. This game is not one for the lazy minded. If you do not like to solve puzzles or do not think you should have to PLAY the game to progress, then this game is not for you. But if you want to be immersed in rich textures, wonderful graphics, and totally awesome places to visit, Try this game. You won't be sorry.
OMG So many Positive comments and not a single negative!!I've been playing on the James Cook server for about a week and it has taken over my life!! This game is so awesome with so much to do that anyone that doesn't like it must be either to lazy to work for what they want out of a game or just plain stupid. Sure there are a lot of mistranslations, a few bugs and a total lack of pathing but those are minor compared to the absolute enjoyment I'm getting out of this game. One thing no one has mentioned is the fact that the Mediterranean is just the "Newbie Area". There is still a whole world to conquer that I can't wait to see! The fact that this game is free doesn't really affect my judgment because I gladly pay to play several MMO's and so far this one beats them all for quality of content and overall enjoyment. Sure some other games are prettier but I play to play not to be wowed by flashy graphics. Most of those fancy new MMO's are just WoW clones or just beautifully rendered crap fests. This game brings a breath of fresh air into this genre and will give PotBS a real run for it's money(Thats if they ever release it)

Yes they can but you can the same. It help sometime you shout Its for me. (in normal chat)
Ah the joys of fairplay! In naval times some people got VERY rough about salvage! Especially among privateers.
Last night I had a Spanish Lt. Junior Officer charge into the Gib. battlefields and scoop up my loot. His ship was fast
so as fast as I killed off the insurgents hed race by and take the salvage. That was simply no good! Then it struck me,
he cant get the damned salvage if my ships slammed along side of him. So I literally slammed my ship into his.
Within moments hes crying foul! He cant get away from the Golden Eyes striking him from all sides. Meanwhile I keep
my ship in repair and watch him nearly sink. I let him go after awhile and he hightailed it out.
Take courage. All is fair in war!
So if you ram some dudes boat, you can lock them up? LOL, I will have to remember that next time. I was still in the upgraded starter ship, and the guy that steal killed from me had some uber ship. So I basically had to bend over and take it . Anyways, this free game rocks! Its the best Asian developed game I've played so far (better than Silk Road, Flyff, MappleStory, and Rapellz).
Definitely one of the best Asian games I've played. Albeit in no way perfect. Hell Im almost at odds with how the company is managing there developers but meh. I could live with the game exactly as it is if I had to. OH and dont take kill stealing. Just dish it back out. Even if your slower you can still manage to gobble up his scavenge he worked so hard on. Mind you.. Id highly recommend just asking them to bugger off first. Youd be amazed how many people actually listen lol.

I would, but my character is still a weakling . And from my experience telling people to quit "steal killing" only makes them do it more, hehe. Its funny but its true. But seriously, don't worry as soon as I grow stronger I WILL be getting payback.
Its just the way your wording it. Dont ask then to stop kill stealing. Simply ask them if youd like to group. Its all in your personality really.
One of the most fearsome and bloodthirsty pirates was bugging me, then I saluted from deck and waves a white flag. Pretty soon hes sharing with me. Its amazing what a little respect will get you. Besides the fact he was a bloody pirate king. Not like I could ever tell him to stop. A king deserves respect

Naw, I prefer the "speak softly and carry a big stick" approach. I just got to get my hands on a Britsh Man-O-War, then I will be the pirate king!
I didn't like it for the point and click travel. And for the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get out of 640 x 480 resolution. That looks horribly bad on my 24 inch monitor. Thats why I don't play it.
Ok I've read most of the thread now and I want to try it again. Thirty minutes isn't enough I guess. Also can anyone tell me how to change the resolution?

Hehe, no a half hour isn't enough!
But put in a day and you're hooked.
Try this link for resolution...ack, it reset. Well, just type in resolution for the search.

Change the resolution in the Core.INI file. YOu just change the x= and y= values to what you want. Always a good idea to make a backup of the original core.ini before you start. It's located in the main game folder I believe.
as you see i dont post here very often, but i have tried over half the games on the list and this drew my eye I am 50% dowloading and i love games like this
Bah. I was going to try this game, but point and click movement is horrible. I don't know why all the Asian games use it, it's so limiting. So what if it takes up a tad more bandwidth.
They should give us an option: default to point and click for those that don't care, or set to AWD movement for gamers who want better control over their avatars.

I had read somewhere that in other countries a high percentage of people do their gaming at internet cafes. And with the point-n-click movement you've got a free hand to smoke a cig with. I have no idea if thats the real reason but works for me.
Lol, who cares about silly things like that?! The game is downright the most addictive game EVER! I have no idea why this game is like that. The graphics are average, the movement is odd, the Engrish is frustrating. But so what lol! It's SO fun to play!
Bleh...ok back to playing.

I played for about 10 mins and could barely understand a thing. It seems the game may have potential, but I couldn't make sense of what the NPCs wanted me to do because the translations were so horrible.
Someone PM me when they fix the translations and I might give it another go.
I play VCO on occasion. First good point..ITS FREE!!!. Second good point. It's free. Third good point. I like merchant men games. Although the trading system could be a bit more dynamic with a wider range of goods. The quest system is difficult to use. Mostly because of the engrish. The graphics are mediocre at best. The overall game play is slightly better than mediocre. The point n click is a negative. But.. I had grown accustomed to it from playing all the other free asian games that are out there right now. I think what it takes to upgrade your ships is a bit more time consuming than I would like. But at least when you do get to the next ship grade you know you have earned it. Overall I would say that for a free game it is totally awsome. If I was paying for it I would expect a bit more.

Better Control? I point to where I want to go and click and guess what? I go to that exact spot. It doesn't get better or more precise than that. I would much rather play a point and click game than an AWSD game. I have never ended up crippled and cramped up from a mouse controlled game, I can't say the same for AWSD/Keyboard controlled games. One of the reasons I went to Lineage II from other games is the fact that it was Mouse point and click controlled which allowed me to be able to play for longer in one session than I ever could an AWSD game. Keyboard control = Wrist and hand injuries......if you guys want those you can have them, I'll be playing VCO instead.
I didn't like this game to much i thought it was kind of dull im more into a quick pace game where u have to think quickly and make decide what to do quickly. Not where you have hours to think about what to do, but thats because i have a quick pace mind and think of something then i immediately want to try it as soon as possible, this game doesn't allow that. Overall this game is good and will be generally fantastic when they get all the bugs worked out, but the game is not as quick paced as my taste for games are.

When i played the game the first time it was the BEST.
I love how there is some much to do mining, forging, temberfelling and so much more.
You can sail around the WORLD.
Last but not least you can get in a boat battle and after the battle you can take the opponent s loot.(if you win)
A.I. is not bad not good.
The maps are just plain very little detale.(some of the maps are not done)
The game is time consuming and you have to have patience.
There are some gliches like game dieing and going to desk top.
Path finding Could use some work.
This is my small list of some of the goods and the bads of Voyage Century.
