As another Beta Player, I understand the concerns and statements. What area I really do like is the quests, especially, the epic quests feel like you are part of the story. That you are really helping someone or working to make a difference. This makes the grinding thru levels much more pleasant, then running around and killing the creatures to get your .05% of experience needed for that level. The epic quests are particularly nice.
I also agree the game will take more of a beating, because people will be expecting the quality and depth of the books and movies. Not everyone of course, but for those that loved the books if they do dislike the game, they will likely be more vocal about it.
I hope you REALLY love those boars and wolves, because you will be seeing them over and over and over as you progress through the levels.
Not sure if the animations exist here, but since it is the same game engine it is worth a try. Find a high spot over water, like a cliff or outcropping of rock and jump. In Ac2 if you fell a certain distance over water your body would invert from a feet-first fall into a swan dive.
The game is eye-candy and minute detail rich. There is a glaringly obvious disconnect between the attention given the look and feel of the world and that given to game mechanics, however. The gameplay systems and mechanics are where I take issue with thier design.

You know what its shame that even a great forum and site like Mmorpg.com has become infestred with small minded idiots all we hear is WOW this and WOW that if these idiots are so obsessed by Juvenile infested WOW, I wish they'd piss off back to and leave great games like LOTR and us alone ..
I will sum up LOTR. Great Lore - the best ever. Good graphics. Great books and movies.
One of the worst and most restricted MMORPGs around. Its not really a MMORPG. Its an adventure game that you have to pay for. They made one big extreme mess of this.
The stench of the die hard ! Quick warning to future flamers, you are about to take on some of the best troll s of these forums because a lot of people liked the beta and have very good reviews that are objective, instead of "this is the greatest game ever" LoTro is not the greatest game but it is a good game right now , and we will see if it can maintain itself up to launch.
well, the crafting did it for me it is what i was looking forward to because of the devs promises apparently not fulfilled there is no point to crafting if the better items are aquired through quests and raiding waiting for the next game that promises great player created items
Don't believe what you hear some people say, crafted items are on par with noncrafted. They are harder to craft, and the recipes/instructions are rare, expensive, and one use only, but they are there.
Currently: Playing EVE Online Previous: FFXI, Dragonrealms, sad little stint in WOWland. Awaiting: Fallen Earth, Hero''s Journey, Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan.
