those arent balanced settings. if they are, then theyre tweaked like crazy. balanced has shadows and shaders. what im seeing here is high performance settings. hell you cant even see a single blade of grass in that screenshot. come on.. enough of this crusade your on. especially when you have to edit the truth

Well....I just got my new computer and I thought I would share 2 screen shots with you. One is from Lotro with all the bells and whistles on, which runs extremely smooth, the other is from Vanguard....also with all the bells and whistles on which run at 35-40 FPS. As you can see, both games look very nice. This entire mind set of "which game is better" is really relative to your thinking. Each games has it strengths and weaknesses, which in the end will appeal to that crowd. I personally like both games, each for there unique ideas, feel and artwork. Sure Vanguard is having issues which annoys me on a daily basis and was launched too early, but they were up front and honest about it, which is more then I can say for other games. I am sure LOTRO will also have launch issues and those bitching about Vanguard now, will be right back here bitching then. If you are unhappy with a product, show the company you are by speaking with your wallet, not with a bunch whines. Vanguard looks nothing like that if you have everything on highest, you are obviously running balanced or below. Not sure what your trying to pull but give it up.

Im in both games and i see nothing wrong with his pictures ..but I would say take some pictures that are similar in nature ... if your gonna compare vanguard ... take some pictures in a city as well. Perhaps in one of the port cities by the large boats ... that would be nice.

no offense meant but I don't think yours are much better. Mine were taken the last day off open beta, send me a buddy key and I will take the time to take some new ones, but I'll be damned if I am going to buy the game to do so

OK are you blind? ...could be...who knows...but you can look at your picture of the archers and my picture of the archers and you can tell the textures are far different .. I sure can. I am not saying that you didnt try to take pictures at a high setting ... maybe something was wrong with your computer ..... or it is not as good as you think it is.

I have only been on these forums for a short time and i have already seen how useless they are in terms of information ... well you can get a lot of raving misinformation...and general assistance on the game ... useless ... I come on here every so often just to read what these people have to say ... they crazy anger over a simple game ... and wonder.....just wonder. Please if anyone wants to get information on this game ... got to another forum where people will actually help you.
Main drift of this is anyone can a game look good by taking screen shots in a nice area with a nice angle. It's like take photos of someone on a camera, they could be damn ugly but you get the right lighting and angle they could look pretty good. All I can say is just try the game out and see it for yourself. Thats proof by itself, see it with your own eyes.

The only issue I have is, for me to make VG look great, I need a better system than LotRO. Might not be a big deal to some but to others who can't afford to upgrade (you know because of feeding the family or paying for school), that can be a big problem.

It might not have been deliberate. Even high quality, high resolution screenshots will look like crap if the jpg compression is set too high when they are saved or uploaded.

The entire thread is bull, because LotRO has not released the hi-res textures yet . As well it is misleading , it is just plain ridiculuos to be comparing screens from a beta with an already released game
Gotta say LOTRO looks better overall. I know Vanguard from a technical standpoint has the better graphics but for me style counts and Vanguards style or lack thereof is appalling to me.

There is nothing in Vanguard that comes out and grabs me saying "Hey, look at me! I am amazing!"
The graphics to me are uninspiring and bland, I don't know exactly how to describe it but LotR graphics just apeal to me and make me feel like I am in an mmo.

I play both games and I must say I like Vanguards graphics better. Turbine is just terrible on graphics, all their games look the same. AC2 looked like this, DDO looks like this and LOTRO looks like this. Same art style, and just a few variations. Where is something original for each game Turbine? But I do like the equipment and weapons better in LOTRO. Where are all the bad ass and cool weapons Sigil? Why do you have to be so ultra classic in that department? I don't want a big bad ass two handed "Boar Clever" that looks like a tiny dot on my back....
And someone at Turbine should be put on deathrow for that interface
hmm everyone says LOTRO looks "last gen" but to me they both look like the SWG art team did graphics for both games.... just my thoughts but SWG (except for the water) looked almost as good as those with the graphics all the way up and it could run on very low-end systems

Sorry jacky, I like your screens but his are really freaking sweet. You really get a sense of the difference between Vanguard and LotR from them. Vanguard is so much more detailed it's not even a contest. I really really think LotR looks great though.

would be bending, notice the elf on the rights arm is drawn back and the bow and its string have not moved. It is lack of attention to details like this that make Vanguard a second rarte game. Sorry man but VG is still at beta stage and LoTROs graphics eats VG's alive and it's animations are several orders of magnitude above VG's.
BTW go over to the elf starter area and take a few of those archers at low , medium and high settings and post them with the FPS showing

I've played both games since early beta and while LOTRO is more polished and pretty decent. It isn't revolutionary. Vanguard is by far the prettiest mmorpg out and the deepest in terms of gameplay.
Nothing even comes close to vanguard , on my 24 inch wide screen dell at 1920 x1200 with every setting maxed and yes that how i play the game but there is areas that i have to turn down my settings , its really strange i can play around Ci'ial Brael with evey setting maxed at 1920 x1200 but in places in thestra and Qalia i have to turn down my settings to play smooth even though its way more open country
Only other game i have on my computer is Oblivion and i just loaded it up to see how they compare , vanguard blows oblivion away in every aspect at max settings . LOTR looks great to really , characters are kinda bland but its a nice looking game

Someone is going to kill themselves because of this game. i'm 100% serious that this game will make someone so furious that they will harm themselves. You can't put people in this kind of environment when they are cult following thier favorite game designer.If someone does go bezerk , guess who would get sued ?
