Ok ok ... you do know AoC probably won't be released until the end of the year or the beginning of the next right?
And the 2 games will be as different as day and night. There's no arguing or opinions that will give you any reasonable answers to your question.
$OE lies list http://www.rlmmo.com/viewtopic.php?t=424&start=0 " And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
I dunno if AoC will be out in a timely manner. You will most likely be waiting months.
WoW is a fun and well put together game but it is somewhat one-dimensional in my opinion.
AoC? Hmm we will just have to see, but it promises to at least have some new things, such as the aiming for sections of the body in combat and mounted combat. Whereas WoW is simply a rehash of EQ gameplay mechanics, even down to the strict adherence to the artificial stupidity taunt/tank/spank paradigm.
If AoC was already released then I would tell you to go there, but its not. WoW might be fun for a few months or something.
WoW is a very good game for a beginner and you will probably like the game and play it for quite some time. I think that you should buy WoW and see if you like it, if you do then play it and maybe buy AoC when it comes out if u don't like it, when then ur strange.
WoW is a good game for a beginner and the first time you play it you (usually) really enjoy it and feel for keeping on playing. When hitting max lvl tho, u may grow bored or u may love the endgame content. Warning: Once you have joined a guild and been in it for some time it may be hard to leave due to the community that is in the guild.
WoW sucks...thats why they've sold 8 million untits. lol
Seriously though WoW is a lot of fun, I've only been playing for about a month and I'm enjoying it a lot. Of course I connot say anything about the end game, but even if I don't get much into the later stuff I can always start a new character on another server, so I have to say that WoW is definately worth it.
You should go down to the store right now and DEMAND a copy of AoC, the best MMORPG on the market today. You sure don't want to play WoW. ! With over 8+ million people all around the world playing it, the game just has to SUCK ! Blizzard must have hypnotized all those people so that they would stay playing such a rotten game year after year. And Age of Conan is such a super game. I mean, just ask any of the players. Look at the lack of bugs. Look at all the great quests and features. Look at the player base they have built up since the release. Man, Age of Conan is the best MMORPG ever made !
Just cause they say it's 8 million you going to take their word for it? Please!! Companies over exaggarate all the time.
Second, the reason WoW has a larger population then most is simple; they reach out to more countries then any other game so naturally more people have access to it.
But!!!! Not all who have brought this game are playing it now and not all who brought it, like it. There's a very large population of ex-players who despise WoW. Why? Because they found out it's not as good a game as announced. If anything, WoW is probably the most hated game in the gaming world. And this isn't because it's one hell of a game now is it?
Just cause they say it's 8 million you going to take their word for it? Please!! Companies over exaggarate all the time. Blizzard makes it clear how they count subscriber numbers. They do not inc cancled/banned or inactive accounts, just account that have time left on them and accessed within the last 30days.
January 11, 2007 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. announced today that World of Warcraft®, its subscription-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), is now played by more than 8 million gamers around the world. World of Warcraft has also achieved new regional subscriber milestones, with more than 2 million players in North America, more than 1.5 million players in Europe, and more than 3.5 million players in China.
World of Warcraft's Subscriber Definition
World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees' territories are defined along the same rules.
Second, the reason WoW has a larger population then most is simple; they reach out to more countries then any other game so naturally more people have access to it.
WoW was not avaliable in Asia till 1 year after its original release, it was out in Europe and NA like all other MMO's for the first year and still broke records. If this game was no good it would not be growning in sub numbers 2 years from its release.
It also has a large player base becuase it a good game that runs well even on old systems, has a good in game population and is reviewed by all sites at 90%+ Source: uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraftexp1/review.html
Its also because WoW is not a time sink, you can log in for 30mins and achieve somthing and thats what the majority of MMOers want. Its also not a up ya ass serious MMO for no-lifers to live a 2nd life and pretend they have friends, you can have fun in WoW.
But!!!! Not all who have brought this game are playing it now and not all who brought it, like it. There's a very large population of ex-players who despise WoW. Why? Because they found out it's not as good a game as announced. If anything, WoW is probably the most hated game in the gaming world. And this isn't because it's one hell of a game now is it. Same can be said for all MMO's why single out WoW, there are players who play the game to death 70+hours a week and end up hating it or just spend a few months a move on, I've played it for 16months and still enjoy it as do many of my guild mates. Theres no set amount of time you HAVE to play an MMO, play till you get board and move on.
The burning crusade expansion sold a record amount 2.4Million copies (3.5Million potentional customers) in the first 24 hours of its release (only avaliable in Europe and NA). Seems many people (more than all other sub based MMO's put together) are very much enjoying the game.
Yeah, and half those 8 million hate the game. If you actually believe the game has 8 million players at the moment then you're more naive then most. No matter how much of a fanbois you are for WoW you can't actually believe the servers are holding 8 million accounts, even if they don't all come in at the same time. Even a newbie knows better then this.
I'm one of these exaggerated number of 8 million who purchased this game, played it for a few months and left never to return because I didn't like WoW. Neither do thousands of others who post in these forums, are we being counted in those 8 million? Are all the other hundreds of thousands who post in other forums saying they also dislike WoW, are they also in the 8 million WoW and their groupies love to shout out? Are they, are we? Or are they being discounted as malcontents?
C'mon now, be real! You like this game, good for you but no matter how much you like or dislike it, you can't actually believe something everyone who's into reality knows to be true. That there are NOT 8 million current players. Now if you say 8 million who have brought the game at one time or other, then maybe that can be believed.
Maybe WoW has truthfully sold 8 million accounts since it began 'til present. (although I seriously doubt it, but it doesn't really matter to me anyway) But:
1. Many of those accounts being counted as 8 million are from the same people who have different alts. No matter what, no one can deny many people have more then one account per game. At times 3 or more alts, happens in just about every game. These accounts are also counted in this 8 mil.
2. A game with this long a reach as WoW who's in many countries around the world will definitely give a lot more people access to play it as does this one. You'd have to believe any game, or any half decent game would most likely do the same.
3. But many of these people who have played this game, those same ones mentioned in these 8 million, no longer play this game for whatever reason. And many others like myself left because it wasn't all that it was hyped up to be.
Right now, you can read threads of many people, long time players of WoW who no longer crave this game or/and are moving to other games, like Vanguard and Conan when it finally arrives. WoW may of been the best game around at one time for many players but there are many games coming out now that have things WoW players only wish WoW had. The recent expansion was a bust, as many players came to these same forums complaining how it was the same grind as before, can anyone deny this? No! At least not realistically.
I'll post this again because you must of missed it, please read it this time.

Even a newbie knows better then this. They have 225 servers in North America and 105 servers in europe, I dont now the asia stuff so iill stay withthe west for this point. thats over 300 servers in total to cater for 3.5million players in West. I will also point to the 2.4million expansion sold in the first 24hours in NA and Europe.
I'm one of these exaggerated number of 8 million who purchased this game, played it for a few months and left never to return because I didn't like WoW. C'mon now, be real! You like this game, good for you but no matter how much you like or dislike it, you can't actually believe something everyone who's into reality knows to be true. So, if 1 person pays 3 subs/month thats still 3 subs being pay/month, how does blizz know its 1 person? if you want alts make them on your 1 account at no extra cost. If you pay for 3 subs then your counted as 3 people.
2. A game with this long a reach as WoW who's in many countries around the world will definitely give a lot more people access to play it as does this one. You'd have to believe any game, or any half decent game would most likely do the same. WoW only expanded becuase of it shuge success if EQ2 was as successfu they would of done the same.
3. But many of these people who have played this game, those same ones mentioned in these 8 million, no longer play this game for whatever reason. And many others like myself left because it wasn't all that it was hyped up to be. At least not realistically. 2.4million expansion sold in the first 24hours in NA and Europe. Ofc people will leave WoW for other games never said they would not. Look at the number of VGSOH negative posts, they by far outweight the WoW:TBC posts which were only on these forums for a few days, 3 weeks after VGSOH and they are still coming.
8 million current players?, yeah, right!!! Yup.
You dont like WoW thats fine, but the fact is everything I have said is based on facts Im not making this up, I have given you links to souce materials and press releases but you still doubt it.
WoW is showing its age now, and I'll probably switch to LOTRO but Im never goona deny the impact and succes of WoW.
Thanks Cupertino but I already had a level 58 Druid so I know how this game is.
Well, you know how SOME of the aspects of the game are. You certainly have never been a Raid Leader, nor even been on a serious end-game Raid. Nor have you done any End-Game Crafting, as that requires mats from Raid Instances. Nor have you done any End-Game PvP as that also requires better gear than you can possibly have at lvl 58. Same holds true for Reputations. You have not reached a high enough level to have worked the End-Game reputations up.
And, of course, it has all changed now with BC. And while you can get into Outland at 58, the fact that you are still 58 means you have not mastered any of the content there.
I respect your decision to no longer play WoW, no problem. Would like to have you back, of course. The WoW community wants all types of players. So come on back, its all good.
Until then though, please realise that all the content that you have experienced so far is the 'Easy Mode' content. It is designed to prepare you for the more complex game that the previous WoW End Game, and now BC, provide.
Now, I know there will be many that blast these sentiments and yell that WoW, even in the End Game, is all 'Easy Mode'. Perhaps. But, let them post their Raid Leadership records and Guild Records here. Then, I will take them seriously.
Given that AoC won't be out for a while yet, you could probably get WoW and play it to satisfaction in time for the other game's release, then switch over in time for a change.
Personally, while I was looking foward to AoC and still hope it's a good game, I am a old, long time fan of Robert Howard's fiction (he created Conan) and worry from all the dev notes on this game that it really isn't going to have much to do with his actual writing and intent....too much MMOGish modification to the world and premise, to make it playable as a game but in sacrifice of the IP content. In other words, the usual result of any developer turning a good IP in to another farce. (cough >Matrix< cough, cough >SWG< cough)
But I hope I'm just being pessimistic......I wan't AoC to rock!
I would strongly suggest trying out a few trials...WoW, EQII, EVE, ect.
The above all offer trials... DEFINITELY take advantage of it to see if it is something that you would like to continue playing.
Obviously if they have sold 8 million+ copies the game doesn't suck for those entering the mmo or mmorpg gaming streams.
Free games like those offered at www.gpotato.com are also nice because they don't have the subscription fees, but they also lack the quality of monthly paid games at the moment.
I would choose wow simple reasons, Its user friendly, the pvp is unique and good, the quests arnt always the same and are aometimes fun, the griding isent as boring, and the raids and obvoiusly the occasional sneaking into undercity (if yor allience) and just having fun there lol.
Oh and the battlegrounds and battle arenas wich are very fun and it is suitable for almost any computer with good graphics..
i have 448mb ram and some random crap GFX card that came with the computer and i still can play wow perfectly.. but im beeing biast here as you can very clearly see.. but o well lol.
Ahh and the fact that so many people play it its really easy to find a raid group or a good guild.. lol
BDw i quit wow and i am just reinstalling it now lol mainly becuase oft he reasons i just seid.
But still i would try AOC when it does come out just incase its a much better game.. wich is wount be lol =D
You know what, god damnit, I have to say something right here and right now! I was reading this forum and found a guy who said "WoW has over 8 million players, so you know it has to SUCK!"
Now, I say, what kind of logic is that! That's like saying, "You know what, over 1 billion people eat every day, so that must mean that eating is bad!" or "You know what, over 10 million people excercise every day so that must mean that excerise is bad for you!"
!Dumbass! Why, why, why, why would you say something retarded like that! In the words of Walter + Jeff Dunham "Dumbass!" You know what, over 8 million people can't all be wrong!

Next time 8 million people jump of a cliff into death you follow them like a good lemming. After all 8 million cannot be wrong, can they?8 million people, they have to have at least one that is right!
