I'm looking for a mmorpg to play but my computers completely out of date. I think Diablo II is about the best game that can run on my computer well enough to play. Any suggestions? free ones preferably.
this is the biggest troll thread ever. So let me guess u want everyone to say WOW? from u even mentioning diablo , just proves this another thread started by a wow hater.

Shadowbane or maybe guild wars with low setings. Vanguard? what a joke i want my 50$ back.
lol, my computer is terrible I dont think those games would work on it. My brother has guild wars and if I don't find a game I can play on my system I might resort to playing it on his computer, but he's using it most of the time.
I'm looking at Endless Online which looks really good but I saw some not too good ratings on it.
The computer I had a couple of years ago (P4 1700, 1 Gb ram, GeForce 4400) was able to run WoW, CoH, AC, all the 2D games I tried including the newer Asian ones) I had a wee bit of trouble with EQ2 although I could play with the settings turned down quite a bit. By the time DDO, LOTRO beta, Vanguard beta, etc. came along, I had a much higher end computer. Sorry, I never tried Endless Online.
PS I don't know what Ahiles was on about. I didn't think you were trolling at all.

Id say play Ragnarok Online That game can be quite intense... and there is numerous "servers" to choose from

"Resort to" playing Guild Wars, like that's a bad thing?? Guild Wars is a very good game, man. And not to knock Diablo 2 (which I loved and was hopelessly addicted to for a long time) but GW is in a way different league.
As far as good games with bad graphics, Anarchy Online is a great game if you can get past the horrible graphics. But even though it's way old and the graphics are barf, it still chews up a lot of system resources so it might not be a good option for you. Just throwing it out there tho.

Well, I've got about 256mbRAM and I don't even know what graphics card I've got... My brother has WoW but that didnt run amazingly on his computer which is a lot better than mine.
It probably sounds like games dont work for me at all but I can play some of them I swear!
I've played Ragnarok online before and I liked that a lot but I don't have a job at the moment so I can't really afford to be paying for games monthly.

I didn't mean it like that, I just mean I'm gonna have to throw my brother of his computer and get him to re-install it, then persuade him to let me go on his computer everyday.
Trickster online looks pretty good, I may have to try that.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I'm going to go trying some of them out and see what I like. Peace.
You might try the Realm Online, a 2D game that was fun back in the day. I can't speak of what it is like currently, not having played it in 10 years, but it is the only MMOG I have played where a rogue could actually be a rogue. Thieves as they are called in Realm Online, could pickpocket anyone and break into players houses and steal all their belongings if talented enough. It was lots of fun.
Was playing both diablo 2 and DAOc at same time......while number of players have shrunk DAOC is still a good game..........will proberly go back myself while waiting for AoC or Warhammer.....
Note: AO is extremely indepth, a lot of thinking and patience are involved in the development of your character, especcially after you get out of the noob levels (after levels 50-100 depending on who you talk to)

As far as mmo's go, I'm not a veteran of the genre. For myself, the best games I've played with not so great graphics would have to be Diablo 2 and Rogue Spear. For mmorpgs, UO and ShadowBane are the ones I've heard friends talk about.

Oh mighty detective you are...
You said diablo! YOU ARE AFTER ME!
Calm down, relax yourself you crazy little pidgeon.
Many mmo's are indeed 3d these days in some way or another, the best bet is probally UO (though you are doomed on that one)
There are a ton of 2d mmo's around but they are getting harder and harder to find.
