Hey all,
As I approach lvl 20, I am begnning to see how many things the devs left out of release. I am still having a pretty good time, but this MMO is half-baked, to say the least, here it goes:
Player housing
Rings
Necklaces
Cloaks
Helm graphics
Guild housing
Guild activites and interfacing
Flying mounts
Many crafting recipes and sub-components are also missing
Entire Berserker Class
Entire Inquisitor Class
Teleportation
Tracking for Rangers (this is absurd)
Entire villages and towns
And entire quest lines (this doesn't include the dozen or so broken quests I have already come in contact with).
This isn't a whine post, but for those of you thinking about joining up, take a good look before you buy it... You may still have fun, but the lag, missing features and overall horrible performance of this game made me hit "cancel" until I see some more patches...

What are you talking about? See bellow:
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!
Dis_Ordur, are you sure you are playing Vanguard? If you are serious, and aren't just Trolling, then the previous post answers it well.
I haven't seen any of those features pre-lvl 20... Maybe I am missing something, but when I search for rings, cloaks or necklaces, notihng is on the exchange...
Pretty sure they aren't in game, at least for characters my level.
But you Vanbois sure are fun to get a rise out of... I swear, I have never seen a community as defensive as the VG community...
And to MX13... Unlike you, I haven't pored over this game for the last three years, I am not up to speed with the statements made regarding features not in at launch... Such items as Ranger's track are elementary enough to be expected at launch... But go ahead and keep making excuses, I am bored at work...
Add one more item to that list that is missing:
Gods

Ring- http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/itemDetails.vm?itemId=479554 (UNDISCOVERED!)
Maybe because people have YET to put them up on there,or find them on exchange?
You can't understand why Vanguard fans get so defensive? Maybe it's because people like you post info that is completly wrong (see OP) and state it as fact. It's one thing to state that Vanguard sucks or it's a pile, that's an opinion and is each person's right. It's quite another to insist you played the game to level 20 and state as fact those items don't exist or should have at release. You are wrong.
MX13's assesment is correct. (see above)
Just not worth my time anymore.
Gotta admit it was a pretty laughably uninformed post.
OK, well, if you are really looking for input on rings, cloaks necklaces...
Go to the Broker, select the sphere you want (e.g. Diplomacy, Adventuring etc.), select the slot (e.g. ring, ear, neck back etc.) and click search. I haven't noticed much of a different when selecting right ear vs left ear as of yet. I'm currently looking for rings currently, and I'll get a listing of at least 50 or so. Most are player made, some are dropped from Mobs. Diplomacy rings, earrings and neck items are in high demand and may only last on the broker a few hours before someone buys them. Personally, I've placed earrings for sale and they go within minutes (I've obviously under-priced them).
Cloaks are also high demand and go like hot-cakes. I'm seeing more and more player made cloaks which seem to be driving the over all price down for such items.
I also keep the auction channel on when I'm in the mood to buy, but it seems that most of the items there are premium and out of my price range. Although I snagged a great wisdom ring for 1s.
With regard to player housing, that has become a very hot market item in the last week. Plots have been discovered and purchased in Northern and Eastern Thestra and players are currently acquiring the materials they need to build their houses. For me, it's out of my price range.
I hope I'm not considered a Vanguard fan; I'm just here until Darkfall comes.
Quite a worthy time-filler though; I finally get to play an EQ-style game and a decent PvE MMORPG.

I edited my post just in case you though I was talking to you . My cousin who played EQ at launch took one look as I was playing Vanguard and said "It looks like an updated EQ". I think he's right and am glad for it.
Just not worth my time anymore.
I've played the modern MMORPGs (EQ2, WoW, DDO), but I have yet to find a reason to leave DAoC.
The question is what does Vanguard have that my game, that I've spent years learning, have?
DAOC has modern day graphics because of its graphical overhaul in Catacombs and Darkness Rising.
DAoC has 5 viable ways to level up (grinding, questing, PvPing, Kill Tasks, Task Dungeons).
DAoC not only has run of the mill quests, but also Epic quests and other immersive story lines.
DAoC has a huge world to explore, with 3 realms. 20+ races, 30+ classes with 3 different ways to specialize them that makes them completely unique compared to someone else of the same class.
Player housing
RvR
BG's for all levels and PvP dungeons for lvls 1-9 and 15+
Raids that don't revolve around getting loot, but around having fun and completing quests.
Mounts and epic mounts
Crafting
Boats (for ToA users)
A whole slew of different armor and the ability to customize it through dyes for your own look
Guild housing and tools
Easy travel and not bad of a death penalty
Multiple way of advancement (lvling to 50, master lvls, champion lvls, and Realm ranks)
I'm probably missing something, but that is just off the top of my head. Now what does Vanguard offer that is worth leaving my game and spending $300 for a new video card and another Gig of RAM? A new enviroment, diplomacy, performance problems and loads of bugs? Am I missing something here?
This is what would have brought me to Vanguard if they released a finished product. Finished doesn't mean bug free, but relatively bug free (look at LoTRO Beta reviews). I would have played Vanguard because of their multiple starting areas, which DAoC did away with. I would have came over for the player ran cities, but they don't exist. Lastly, a playable game with good graphics without being overly taxing on a relatively new system is a bonus. But alas, they don't offer anything really new, the game has too many bugs for a released product, and requires a top of the line machine to get graphics even on par with my old game.
No thanks Sigil. You had your chance, now step aside for AoC, WAR, Darkfall and future MMORPGs that will break the mold at least a little bit and offer us reason to leave our older games aside from wanting to play something newer.
MMORPG's w/ Max level characters: DAoC, SWG, & WoW
Currently Playing: WAR
Preferred Playstyle: Roleplay/adventurous, in a sandbox game.
Someone higher level than I correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's the problem, right there. There seems to be a lot of things that we don't see untill higher level. Maybe that's intentional, but how are new players supposed to know that? We're not all hardcore fans who keep up with that sort of info, and expect to have to work for everything.
Take cloaks for example. Some might say we should have to work for them, but why? I understand needing to work for the extra-shiny cloak of glittering pwnage, but why shouldn't plain brown cloaks be available right at level one? How many n00bs get turned off and quit, thinking things aren't in the game, because they don't see them during the first 10-20 levels? Not that anyone would quit over cloaks, but there are all sorts of things like that, and they add to up a pretty big first impression.
When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.
I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!
In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

Well said.
However, there is one main fact that leads me to believe he's a liar. Cloaks. Who here around LVL's 12-15 hasn't seen ANOTHER character wearing one?

Maybe I'm just not social enough (I admit it, I'm a cliche gamer, and suck at being social) but I've yet to see anyone else wearing a cloak. Could also be that in towns, with all the stuttering and lag, I don't notice what other players are wearing that much. Mostly just trying my damndest to get where I need to, and get out of there, before I crash.

ya know, I actually WISH i have Never seen anyone wear a cloak. each day I log in, the more I see people wearing cloaks. Its not as bad now as it was in beta though, when a cloak was as common as a pair of boots.
oh, this thread delivers.. lol. I think im going to go choke myself with my cloak in the house our guild built.

He succeeded.
This is why I keep coming up to this forum. Freakin' hilarious. I have more fun in an hour watching the trolls bait the Vanguard fans than I had playing the game for the two days it was on my hard disk.
Actually based on some of his other posts, he was being serious. He is just trying to join the 'Hating VG is the cool thing to do' crowd. I think his second post in the thread was an attempt (poorly done as well) to save face and not look totally inept.

see! it is true, Vanguard has something for everybody!
