The sign up for the EverQuest® II Beta begins today at 10 AM PDT!!!
Note: European customers who wish to participate in a localized beta program may begin the beta application process on June 1, 2004.
System Requirements
Minimum:
- Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
- Processor: 1 Ghz
- RAM: 512 MB
- 16x CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
- Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible. Pixel shader and Vertex shader compatible hardware with 64 MB of texture memory
- Sound Card: DirectSound compatible audio hardware
Recommended:
- Operating System: Windows 98/2000/ME/XP
- Processor: 2 Ghz or greater
- RAM: 1 GB
- 16x CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
- Video Card: DirectX 9 compatible. Pixel shader and Vertex shader compatible hardware with 128 MB of texture memory or greater
- Sound Card: DirectSound compatible audio hardware

Unfortunately, at the moment (1:30PM CDT) the EQ2 website seems to be throwing a fit. One is constantly redirected to a generic Sony Station page, and both the link to the beta application and community forums generate 404 errors.
I'm guessing this is because they have been slammed with visitors.
It is being hammered by the world atm lol.
I managed to register as Malkavian (in-game) and get my security confirmation code, so my place is logged. I just have to finish the registration process when i get home from work as they request you upload your computer specs.
EQ2's BETA REGISTRATION has the best format I have seen to date. Requesting previous testing experience, your preference to game play and aspects of a game ie crafting, hunting etc.. having to securely upload accurate system information and having to sign an agreement that you WILL BE REPORTING BUGS AND NOT JUST PLAY THE GAME.
I can't wait.

Besides being very slow, I had no troubles with the beta sign-up until it wanted to check my computers specs with ActiveX. I am not on the computer I'll be using to play Everquest II, so I got screwed. Now I will have to wait in line, as the website is saying that there is an overload of people trying to sign up.
I think I read somewhere that the first people to sign up will be taken for the beta, in that case, I am screwed, again.
I'm gonna try to apply again later on my gaming computer, but I am not expecting it to go smoothly. I'll bet there are tons of people trying to apply.

I'm pretty sure thats not true. They are giving priority to Legends subscribers, then long-time EQ subscribers, then its random based on system specs, application, etc. Don't post crap like that if you can't back it up.

Well given that the beta phase wont even begin till the 2nd semester and the fact that it will be a restricted beta.. id say within hours of it closing doors.

Heh, I applied a few minutes ago, and only got one "full" error :P. But man, that was the greatest beta application yet, I think they really are going to be judging your past beta experience and willing to work with them, sounds good. *prays he gets in*.

Well, been trying to register since 15 mins after it all went live and still no joy
Started with the pages not loading, then got to the "temp_closed" page and now won't let me sign in even!
Just goes to show that even the big companies can't scale up for very predictable heavy demand.
... and, typically, as soon as I post the previous msg, I have one last attempt and it all goes thru smoothly
ANyway, I'll try the European sign-up as soon as I can, if there's a UK one.
