this has got to be the dumbest move since the nge honestly what else do they want from gamers we pay to play broken games they don't care we say don't do anything to a game we love they spite us and after all that we come back for more punishment... i think they really need to re-evaluate themselves and learn a thing called customer service.  this is just god damn silly.  they have got to be the dumbest freakin company to walk the planet.  i am really getting fed up with this i play two freakin games on this stupid station pass thing and now i gotta pay full price for the 2 games i play this makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.... to hell with them i'm done i had it with this crap!!!!!!!!!!

    way to go SOE

    lost another customer WoW

if you cant afford 5 bucks more, you shouldnt be playing any P2P games at all, and get a second job or something.

Yup this is a all time stupid move, I had a station pass when it was 21.99 and played EQ II and dabbled in the others but when they raised the price the first time I dropped it and now well they will be lucky to see anyone pay for the pass.  The funny thing is we'll finally get to see a clearer picture on the current subscribers to SWG which will be interesting.

For me I'll stick to Vanguard and COH and imo get muich more value for my money than any of the other SOE titles can provide, and why wouldn't I when it cost the same as two mmo's anyway(all I have time for).  I think I understand why its happening though I was in a best buy recently and saw they had 6 PS3's in stock so I asked "huh you must have just got those in" only to be told nope we've had them for weeks.  After all the hype died down that system is sinking like the titanic and SOE is trying to find revenue sources where ever they might find them.

Hard lesson but no console has every been successful on a large scale at that price and in my opinion none ever will.   Poor retarded SOE management(o wait no they deserve it).

    Peace

are you serious its a matter of principle i play two games on that pass 24.99 was a deal 30.00 dollars is a damn rip-off.  its not a matter of money i have a good job and i wouldn't mind paying but where am i getting my moneys worth here explain that too me and if you say its the fact that there are so many games on this pass your full of it i still gotta buy all those broken or buggy games to even consider 30.00 dollars.  its really not worth paying full price for two games.

hmm my credit card rate increased, was I supposed to cancel it out of principal? Gas prices went up, does that mean I must get angry for them for raising  it and start riding a bike to work?

5$ is minimal for what you get, even if you dont play the games every day. If you only play 1 game, fine, then dont get it, but if you play 2, you might as well keep it, for 1cent more.

And people need to stop bahsing sony. They have given us many great products vs what they screwed up.

5$ more. 15cents a day. i find that much money walking to my car.

I think this move will give them an excuse to cancel some games.  Station pass allowed them to keep game like MXO or planetside or whatever, I'm not to familiar with the details of these games, but anyways raising the price of station pass will cause people to drop it and pay for the games directly.  This will most likely cause the revenue for the mediocre games drop and thus letting those games twilight into oblivion. (lol, inside I'm happy because maybe this will mean the end of the CU or NGE...Long live old SWG!  I can dream)

I love the people who say there is only one game worth playing that SOE make, and this price raise makes that game no longer cost efficient for them to play. My god people! If you only like one of SOE's games, why were you paying for a Station Pass in the first place? Out of loyalty for the kind and helpful ethic SOE presents to its customers? I doubt it.

It may seem like just another $5, but where does the bar end? To begin with it was $20, then they raise it by another few dollars, then more, then more, then more... There comes a point when the deal is no longer visable

And lets face it, with what games they currently offer on the market today, the deal isnt worth $20 anymore, let alone $30...

But alas, some miffed souls will cough up the cash, and Smed's wages will be paid yet again, against our wishes...

Well, I for one, wasnt paying for a Station Sony Pass. I was merely pointing out, that to pay for one even at $25, just isnt worth it.

This isn't one price raise this is the second in one years time.  Thats nearly a 33 pecent increase in one years time, and honestly how many games does SOE have that are worth playing anymore, like others have said EQ is dated, MXO is no longer getting any real updates, SWG is a abomination to man in its current state, Planetside is on life support, EQII is to similar to Vanguard and imo not as good(just my opinion) and I play Vanguard.  So why would I bother paying 30 bucks when I can spend that same amount of money and play two games I love like City of Hero's and Vanguard.

The real kicker is that this is actually $0.01 more expensive then just subscribing to two games at the normal $14.99...

    Those crooks...

On a side note: It was barely a "Deal" before this new price hike...

  • treysmoothtreysmooth Member UncommonPosts: 648
Yup, its a easy choice thus why I'm currently happily playing COH/Vanguard.  I've been playing COH for 16 months so I've lvled my mains to a point that I can log in and just have fun and on the weekends I play Vanguard with a group of friends when I have more time.  Honestly I think they compliment each other well, this way I don't get tired of COH and I can still explore a new and wide open world when I choose.  I just find it hilarious that SOE basically stabbed the most devoted customers in the back once again, its almost like they have no interest in keeping loyal customers anymore and are willing to chance running there online division into the ground for just a little more money.

The video on Wii vs the PS3 is hilarious,  blue ray equals overpriced and only produced by Sony and the cell processors imo could be the final nail in the coffin for the PS3, its simply a long and costly process to develop for thus why games are looking to cost 60 to 100 a piece.  I feel bad for the idiots that forked over 1000's for the pile when it first came out only to have a bunch of overpriced garbage titles available to play on the "mighty" ps3.

I wonder how long before Sony as a whole files for bankruptcy what a day that will be lol.

    Peace

I HATE $OE with a passion words can't describe. My therapist was working on that with me, but I found out he was actually a SWG-NGE fanboi ( one of the 10 remaining players ) so I had to 'take care of him'

Over the years $OE has done alot to remove it's loyal subscribers, and yet many still stubbornly remain. Obviously to fund their excelent market  research department, and award wining game Development sections a price increase was needed to lure many more employees into it's fold. MXO is bulging at the seams from players. SWG has canceled it's server merge, and actually had to add servers to handle capacity. Planetside is selling off the local game stores shelves faster than... EQ oh come on who don't love a classic?

As long as players will tollerate an pay for the service, $OE will continue to deliver sub-standard service, but this has to be a good thing. I do hope $OE looses many customers over the rate hike, and has to admit server populations are much much lower than before. Many other game companies would be happy to have a stable loyal playerbase that don't expect much in terms of quality.

As an above poster stated, gas has increased. Yes it has, but would you goto one gas station charging $7.99 per gallon that has water deposits, and sand in the mix. Just because it offers a couple o different variety? And have you noticed that when gas rose to $3.25 per gallon Toyota, Honda having more hybrid cars than other companies sold more than say Hummer? And now many other companies have started Hybrid car research? Cost of service is one thing, every buisness has a red black finacial area, but you can't overcharge people for sub-quality stuff, and not think they will find better service elsewhere, Piss on enough people, and they will force a change. Oh to see Sony be the next Enron

It isn't a very good thing SOE did cause it shows us how cheap some gamers are, i think they need to get out more, get out with some friends then speak what it will cost you, seriously  i understand those that still in collage or living with their parents, but comm'n the mature crowed, the us have jobs crowed its unbelieveble how greedy some of you are.

If people don't like it get over it and move on, why show everyone how a cheap gamer same are, the saddest thing is i read postings from people that don't like any of SOE games and stil they react, sorry but why react on something you're not using.

Maybe i have to wait today at the door and wait for the SOE-man to break down my door and force me with his SOE-gun to take Station Acces like the SOE-man must have been doing that to allot of you, SOE-man pulls a big gun and orders you to play and you MUST!! you have no choice, your free will is been blown away by the SOE-man.

Had the post/mail from SOE a couple of day's ago and already thought "oh boy if they print that on MMORPG we know whats gonna happen" and yes it happend, we witnessed the new Greedy crowed.

Edit: oh yes i hate SOE for what they did with pre-cu SWG but that doesn't mean i need to hate them the rest of my life, unless i like to be a narrowminded person, then i would hate someone for the rest of my life, just like those imbeciels that create war ( rl war not the game ;)  )

Hmm.."how long till SOE file for bankruptcy" was someones quote. Not that long, apparently Sony are making huge losses. Online gaming is a cash cow for the successful, but for that you need the right product, marketing and customer service.Sonys online products are getting a little long in the tooth, other than Vanguard, which has had its problems. The rest are old. Their customer service is shabby, Sony station is a rag tag site that seems cobbled together, with outdated material and unfinished sections giving it quite an amateur feel for a supposedly large professional company.
The rise in suscription rates is even harder to swallow over here in the chill of the UK, taxed till we bleed, add a few dollars more onto that figure ( just over 5$) and you can see it works out as a pretty poor deal for us.
Smedley and friends, love them or loathe them, are not fools. People were told that online fees keep the game fresh, with new content ect, and then are happy to pay and pay as each little bit of new content is spoon fed to them and they keep paying on top of those fees.
Yes, there are thousands who cancel in protest at one thing or another......then, back they come ( why do you think they keep your characters saved for so long) for the next fix.
    It works.
If the online part of Sony was sold, it would probably be for the good as there is a fine line between offering a polished entertaining product and trying to squeeze out every last dollar from your customer base, by feeding them old and half finished products.
Finally, to the poster who finds more money on the way to his car.... if you drop a dime, does it hit you on the back off the head when you bend to pick it up?

One fee, one game, Vanguard. (shame SOE got it)

Amazing how a petty man with to much time on his hands can turn anything into a anti-vanguard post.  Get over it man and find something you actually like,  seriously Vanguard bashing consumes your life, seek help and give up your crusade you sad sad little man.
  • druarcdruarc Member Posts: 182
Bit sad really, would be much better if they just let you pick 2 or 3 for your station a/c then they could just direct the money in the right direction.

As it is I think I'll probably drop my station a/c and stick with PS initially and then switch to Vanguard after a month and the EQ2, and then back to PS.

So I'll have to play 1 a month but it'll save me money ;)

Where is the incentive now? As it is, I can't really play two MMOs full time, let alone 3. But that was okay since I was getting a discount vs. paying two regular subs. With the raised price being the same as two regular subs, there's no financial reason to stick with SOE. When taking into consideration the quality of SOEs MMOs it gets even worse. So yeah, great job SOE. Consider this another Station Pass down the drain.

I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

  • JPatteriJPatteri Member Posts: 12

Well, Vanguard apparently ain't selling enough and the revenues are dropping constantly from the other games, hence prize increases.

Also they need funding for the new projects... weren't there a superhero mmo coming or something?

They even raised Planetside's montly fee. Wonder if other indivudual games got the same treatment.

  • korvasskorvass Member Posts: 616
Of course, if you play two of the MMOs in the SP list, then for many it still works out a bit cheaper, as you only pay tax once.

Even so, there's no real point to the Station Pass anymore. I had considered it, but now there's no real advantage to it.
  • sataelsatael Member Posts: 17
SA can loose 25% of its subscribers to single MMORPG subscribers of SOE games and still make a profit from the price hike especially since all of their MMORPGs are now in the 15 dollars a month price range.
