That’s $250,000 more per month. For what? What do you get for your extra $5 a month? A few old games no one plays and 1 new one that’s unplayable? What do they need more money from us for? Did they re-implement the Friday’s donut and bagel cart delivery over there? Lol whatever. Really there is no benefit for paying for it since most people don’t play more than 2 games per month. Now most will only play one, if any.

I do think the same about :

Taxes, Oil prices, Food prices, Car prices, Healthcare prices, overall Goverment, Are you also that narrowminded to count everyone that is paying taxes and are you looking what is spend with your tax money, trust me we do not know half of what is spend with our tax money, atleast with SOE we have a choice, MANY OF YOU SEEM BLIND TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN HAVE A CHOICE.

Just sad to see that so many people have a hard time accepting things that are in no way a BIG DEAL, like i said before , WAR, AIDS, HEALTCARE ect ect are things that can be called big deals, unless if you are a teenager then you have no real sence yet of what big deals in life really are.

Learn to make choices, it seems that the making choices is skipping a generation as many seem not to be able to

I think it’s a little ridiculous to compare commodities to MMO games since their cost is based more heavily on supply and demand where MMOs are not, so you can put that comparison to rest.

So you think it’s ok to pay more for no additional content? The older games are running skeleton crews now and you are gonna pay more for less. Maybe you should be working for SOE, that's to say if you don't already work for them.  If Funcom came out and said they were gonna start charging $16.99 a month for Anarchy Online due to inflation, but admitted they won't be adding much more to the game after they raise it you know what people would say? GFO. With SOE it's all about greed and nothing more. I guess it’ll take a few months for this to catch up with them but as you can see people aren’t happy with it and if it comes down to playing only one SOE game then that’s what people are gonna do since it’s no longer a good deal.

Edit: let me try it this way :) No its not okay that they raised the fee for no additional content, i never said it was okay, i only said it isn't such a big deal people make of it, and like i said its the same how i feel about Taxes, Oil prices ect. ect. but with SOE atleast we have a choice to either pay it or to not pay it, and that is what my reaction was about , people seem to be unable to make a choice or are unwilling to understand that they can have a choice.

And don't asume when someone talks about things they don't think are big deals that they must be working for those company's and that those people feel alright with stuff that SOE is doing..cause what they are doing isn't right, just not such a big deal some make of it. And i bet you're right about people not willing to pay and will settle with one game, that's okay let SOE feel the hurt that way, but trust me the way some react on these forums against SOE in all those years i know SOE it has not changed them so why would someone think kicking and screaming on forums would now suddenly help (btw not linking you to the screamers, just in general.

I made a post before this one but have to say wasn't such a nice post so thats why this edit version, but got abit tired of people asume or making comments that are not based on things i have said like the comment "work for SOE"

That's what this was posted for, so people could discuss it. People are voicing their opinion about this. It happens in every commercial industry when people are unhappy about a change, from the auto industry to the food industry, not just in games. It's just more noticeable now since the innovation of the internet which has given people a place to voice their opinions and relate them to others. Just like we can chose to continue using the product in question; the people complaining about people complaining can chose not to read the complaints. Sure the price increase doesn’t affect global warming but when something affects a person’s pocket book they are gonna complain. I expect this thread would have gone no different if the increase was as little as $1 or as much as $100. Either way people are gonna make their feelings known then move on. Let them vent. In short, The solution may be as clear as day to you as I’m sure it is with others, some people just need to bitch.

I am the last one to come out and defend SOE. NGE is the biggest blunder in computer game history, but sometimes the stupidity of people forces us to act against our will. SOE has a plan that allows you to play ALL of their games for a certain amount of money. Until recently that was 25 dollars. Paying that amount gave you free subscriptions to play Everquest, Everquest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, Matrix Online among others. They added two new big games to that plan , Vanguard which is the biggest NEW mmorg to come out during last 2 years and Gods and Heroes online which is another anticipated online game, plus 2 more that will be released at the end of the year. So they increased the price by 5 bucks of their offer , to allow people to have access to ALL of their INCREASED number of games. Nobody is forcing people to get their station plan. If you dont want to pay 5 dollars more to play more than 1 games , then dont frakkin do it. If you play one SOE title only there was no reason before and no reason now to get the station plan. If you play two+ games (like me) , or have  people on the same account playing different SOE games (like a couple of my friends) then why the hell not.

I have station plan for more than a year now. I play EQ2 mostly but occasionally I get bored and play  EQ or SWG. Now I play mostly Vanguard and a little of EQ2. So even with the increased price I dont really care. The reason is that they increased the price but they gave me something to justify that increase. In the end as a REAL (i doubt most of the people that posted here even have a station plan) subscriber I prefer charging me 5 dollars more and including their new big games in the plan, than keeping the price where it is and excluding those new games from the station plan. But oh well that's just me.

$30/month??? For the love of God, why would anybody pay $50 apiece for software and then $30/month to play it. Has anyone ever heard of boycotting?? Just how much disposable income are we supposed to have?? From what I've seen game quality has gotten worse and more expensive. It's been awhile since I've bothered playing ANY games. I'm still waiting for something good to come alone.

I just dropped my station pass last month because I am really into Eve Online and no longer play EQ1 and EQ2.  I never could get into SWG, and did not care for Vanguard.  I was happy with the $20 price, okay with the $25 price, but was no longer getting any satisfaction from SOE's games.  At $30, no thank you.

I have WoW for a backup game, but Eve has my focus.  Sony's pay for content several times a year AND pay for station pass killed the fun.  Now Vanguard comes along with 2 price hikes and no interest from me.  I find the timing and reasons amusing.

Kimmie, damn glad to have finally given Eve a chance.

I canceled my all-access passes. To me it looked like funding for Vanguard. I'm sorry I wasted money on that game too. I have not been playing any game lately, and was wasting two accounts (all-access), and two WoW per month. My wife and I were not getting our money's worth.  See ya.

Theres more than 1 game worth playing that SOE makes?
  • SnaegarSnaegar Member Posts: 3

I too cancelled my SOE Station all access pass. I probably won't return. I played a couple of games on the pass but its cheaper to go to the monthly fee than the pass over time. Think of the pass as an DoT, that penny extra adds up over the course of time. (LOL) The way I see it, SOE will lose an unknown amount of people to the SOE Station All Access pass thus needing to increase their monthly cost per game by lets say $5 because "$5 dollars is no big deal", eh? So you will be paying 20 bucks a month to play one game and then people will rush back to the All Access pass to get the deal. Eventually within a relative short time span SOE will raise the ALL access pass by another "5 dollars ain't no big deal" and giving some excuse that the raise is needed for better content of <insert newest SOE game here> . The cycle will continue until you have what? "5 dollar ain't no big deal" x2 or x3? Sorry I am bowing out of the circular philosophy now while the getting is good.

AS LOTRO might be a good game if the graphics weren't so low on the quality side. Think the graphics are good? Ha! Take a look at a free MMO called Archlord.  The graphics remind me of early RPG games. At least WoW doesn't fall into this trap. Although I am no fanboi of WoW.

Vanguard started out as a great idea but fizzled when it became apparent it was a EQ clone, because someone didn't like the way EQ was heading left EQ and joined the VSOH team and made it their personal vandetta against EQ to shape VSOH they way they wanted EQ to go.  Is it only a wonder why the toons in VSOH look and move exactly like EQ? Before I got into beta I once asked which game did VSOH resemble so I could at least try out that game. Most responses were EQLive. I hated the EQ grindfest.

Lately I have been dabbling into various MMO's. All of them I have found to be at  the most uninteresting. Some I have had to buy and some were free downloads. Currently I am enjoying Supreme Commander best of all.  Maybe I just need to get away from MMO's and go back to solo games where I don't have to concern myself with monthly pay to play fees and increases. Or maybe I could go back to what I was doing before I got into MMO's, having a life.

Either way I will never buy another SOE game or subscribe to a SOE game. I will also never buy another Sony product again (yeah I am staring ata a 19" Sony Monitor, next one is going to be a 24" or larger  ACER ).

Good bye SOE and Sony.  Good Riddance to bad rubbish.

Please, don't put out false information. Gods and Heroes is NOT being added to SOE Station pass nor is SOE handling PE's billing or customer service.

Yeah I do not understand people that spend money on there hobby's, are they out of their minds??

Now seriously, guess( read guess which is not the same meaning as fact, it means I’m guessing) you never go out with friends, heck try going somewhere alone in rl, it would be the most dumbest idea to boycott something where people have a choice to either use it or not, damn the world would be a complete mess, yes even more then it already is when we start to boycott such things, Think you got it all wrong m8 you don't boycott things you have choices in you boycott things that are forced upon you without you having the choice to take it or not. And further more you come here telling you lack experience cause you have not bothered playing ANY games so how can you even consider saying quality has gotten worse, okay I understand maybe because you have not played ANY games your system is maybe (maybe =not fact but maybe)not up to playing the most recent games, just speculating here

Wow... Lots of real mental patients on this thread.  Seriously.  If you are this wound up and enraged over a game you need some deep therapy (maybe a visit to Dr Phil).  And if you are sitting in your basement rubbing your hands together salivating over the prospect of some anonymous corporation going "out of business" (thus putting thousands of people out of work), you probably belong in an asylum.

Is this what our pathetic entitlement society has led to?  A chorus of whining, overindulged, spoiled brats who throw a virtual online tantrum everytime something doesnt go their way?  Try being a man instead of a freaking 2 year old and do the following: cancel your subscription if you dont like the service or feel it isnt worth it.  Then email support, in a RATIONAL TONE, explaining you are cancelling b/c you feel the price hike isnt justified.

If you "never felt any of their games were worth it to begin with!!!", or if you think "Sony is the greatest evil in human history!!!!", or if you "never play SOE gamez anywayz LOLZ!", and yet you are still posting here in a rage,  then please STOP posting (on ANY forum), turn OFF your damn computer and go OUTSIDE so you can get something resembling a perspective on reality.

Damn threads like this really piss me off.  This is such a simple thing it isnt worth even ONE reply, yet it becomes 10 pages b/c of all of the mentally disturbed malconents who are so terminally unhappy with life they sit drooling over the chance to spew another wave of bile against the catalogue of things/people/companies they "hate".

I mean is everyone on these forums a 12 year old boy?  Thats the only thing I can guess with the tone of the garbage that you see posted.  It really seems like a crowd of spoiled brats angry that they cant get the toys they want when they want them.  If you are an adult posting this kind of crap about something so silly and trivial as a GAME subscription, take a step back and think seriously about what is going wrong in your life that this is what is on the top of your list of things to rant and rave over.

  • SnaegarSnaegar Member Posts: 3

I always find it hilarious when a thread like this exists and someone like mlambert posts a reply. Its sort of an ironic humorous  sort of way that mlambert seems to be complaining about the people who are complaining. (BTW mlambert, if you are going to bash the people on here at least have the decency to spell the word half way decent... malcontent.) As far as my reply I had already told SOE I was discontinuing my subscription before they put out the rate hike notice. Yeah lets face it rates go up. However, people do need an outlet to vent, some choose to do so in a public forum. In a way  you could view this thread as a petition to SOE. However, unlike a petition which just needs a signature, you get a reason why the petitioner is signing the petition.  If people weren't so outraged in California and "shut up" like you claim to want the people on this thread to do then a specal election would never have been done. I wonder how many people wrote into the California Governor's office before that special election and how many of those letters were ignored.

SO mlambert, in a nutshell you are telling people to 'shut up" and calling them immature. Hmmm, how rational is that? its funny when people do speak up and complain, the first thing people say now a days is  "You must be a 12 year old." I always laugh at this personal attack as I know a twelve year old that acts more maturely and succinctly than they  ever could or would.

mlambert your incessant complainings on people who are complaining is hypocritical in the first place.

Are you a 12 year old boy?

Word of advice, when you point a finger at someone remember three fingers on your hand are pointing back at you.

I am cancelling my account.  I came back to SOE because of Vanguard, but decided what the hey I will just get the Station pass and check out the Old EQ and the New Expansions for EQ2 ... then this.  I will be returning the 29.99 dollar expansion I just bought for EQ2 and I will be cancelling my account.  I am installing the LOTR online beta and we will see where that goes.  I must admit I like the Vanguard game but it really isn't worth the money right now.  Also, with all the other games coming out I think I will be watching the horizons to see how it goes.

I was just so Glad that I Saw that the Price was going up!  I had actualy logged in, to subscripe to the station pass, and was going out the door to buy Vanguard (even in it's crappy state I had hopes that it would improve.)  I was going to get back into SWG, which I loved, and would have enjoyed the visit.. so... my main motivation for Vanguard, was that I could get Vanguard and SWG for less than I was paying for my two active WoW accounts... (and I'd have access to Planet Side, and EQ2 as well as the PS2 EQ online thingy...)

Then, I saw that the price was going up!  I put my coat back in the closet, and just Pre ordered Lord of the Rings online... this was REDICULOUS!

A  - you lost the sale of Vanguard,

B - you lost getting a subscriber back,

C - you cemented in my mind that your Cometitors offer a better deal than you did.

Thanks for being a founding father of the Industry SOE - but no thanks for the direction that you want to pull the industry into... if others were to follow your model we'd have even MORE MMORPG's released WAY before they were ready, and the price modle you espouse would SUCK!

I played a bit of  LOTRO  in beta back in October of last year, even then, 6 months prior to when they will release it, their game was in more of a 'completed' state than Vanguard is as a RETAIL game!

Bah, I'm finished, Pass on your Crown to the new kids, thanks for what you've done, now either get reborn, or die.

    Thank you,

    zWolf -out.

What does that extra money per month get someone, that they didn't get paying the fee as it stands now?

Answer that question, and this price increase doesn't look as bad.

The problem is, I think everyone knows what they will spend the extra revenue on: more live team members (or should I say, "nerf team" members), to nerf all the good things we go to the games to experience, NGE style.

To be honest, everything good in this genre comes from the pre-launch development teams.  Everything that sucks come from post-launch nerf squads.  I think we'd be a whole lot happier if the nerf squads would just go away for the most part, and maybe just be limited to fixing bugs.  If SOE would have done that, they'd avoid most of the trouble of the last five years.

I wish someone out there would just fire their nerf teams.  Doing so will allow them to cut the subscription price per month, plus make more per month, even with reduced sub fees.
