Two completely different games mang. One has training wheels, one does not. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I disagree. The only thing that is the same is that they are both listed on this site. The similarities end there. I am playing both but for different reasons. They have nothing in common.
LoTR is a fun, more casual game for fans of the series and regular, mainstream rigs. Vanguard is a much more hardcore game for veterans of the genre with uber gaming rigs.
This game may lose the MMO wars and end up in the trash bin but I’m willing to bet LOTRO will be there too.

Because LotR nerds don't know about other MMOs already?
Strangely, this sounds wrong to me.

I dont know if Ill be comfortable saying LotrO will kill off Vanguard. To be honest, i think LotrO will be just as bad but in different areas. I don't know....Ill find out when it comes out lol
The truth is nothing kills a MMO. It takes a lot to kill a MMO.
God, when was the last time you seen a popular MMO shut down it's servers? The last ones I know of is AC2 and EnB
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
Ce qui?!?!?
You are referring to Lord of the Rings Online, developed by Turbine, yes? Or are you playing a secret version of the game made by someone else?
And people say the Vanbois are off in their own little world...
Don't confuse that hardcore for you might not have the same meaning to someone else, I am in no way hardcore as described by many on this site, for me hardcore is not about how much time one spend it's about how much passion one has for a game and or its genre, for me to be hardcore in a mmorpg is a complete different thing then to be hardcore in a FPS online game or to be hardcore as described by many to be some sort of lunatic that indeed has no life. For me a casual player is a player that more likes every sort of game regardless its genre, for me this does not mean meeting a casual in a mmorpg that that casual person doesn't know what he's doing, I’m betting he/she does, he/she can know just as much about the game as the hardcore might know (my hardcore type) but for me the casual could easily drop the mmorpg and start playing a complete different type of game and never look back, the hardcore player will either continue the mmorpg but if he doesn't like it or is missing fun he/she most likely will go for another mmorpg. Also the hardcore player in the way I see hardcore one that has some more commitment towards the mmorpg he/she play's, player housing, community, guilds ect, the casual the way I see casual is less committed and he/she enjoys it that way, the casual might be in a guild but might be in less group activities then the guild might be doing regular. There are always those that just take it abit over the edge in commitment towards some game aspect like doing the same raid/dungeon over and over again. Unfortunaly is this one person seen as Hardcore by many of this site, so maybe it's hardcore in the way they think is hardcore just like that I see it differently then others do
Why is hardcore a negative thing in some of your minds?
Why is casual a negative thing in some of your minds?
Try to see them both as positive, maybe fun will become more important then to know who is hardcore or casual and instead just enjoy the games we like.
And to get on Topic, don't know about any threat coming, been in beta and really enjoyed the game, stopped with beta cause I want to get at it with release, LotrO will be a fun game, one you can pickup any time and is less time consuming, I really like it but for allot of different reasons when compared to Vanguard, there is no rush in Vanguard (not saying here that there is rush in LOTRO), I want a flying mount but this does not have to be next week, if I get one in 6/8 months I’m being optimistic if I’m still enjoying myself afcourse over that period. Yes I can play LotrO on Ultra settings and I have to settle with high in Vanguard, both visually enjoyable but both visual so completely different. NN
The truth really is, that Vanguard died the minute it went open beta. I am like many, who followed Vanguard from the "Vision" into the beta. Like many, my guild came to Vanguard, only to be betrayed by a foolish "WANA BE" dev named BM. Only ones so foolish to trust the words of the same moron who made EqOA...
Simple enough, Lotro is the game that I signed up for. So while your sitting there casting your 4 spells, we will be experiencing the new standard in PVE mmorpgs. Quite simple, I cant stand what vanguard became, and the 15 of you that post here... well... were will you go when it is all over, were ever it is … stay away … far away from Earth. I am sure AA and Angerr will create new forum handles, and will come here and hype some new VISION. Until then, im done with your boards. Quite frankly, not worth the key strokes.

Indeed, nothing more to be said.

i nearly fell off my chair laughing at that statement.
and rofl also to the guy with 4 spells. I think hes playing toontown.
He's from the FUTAR!!!
HAHAHAHAHA, that's hilarious.
I own an uber gaming rig, and LOTR is built for my type of rig. Vanguard still looks inferior, although still good.
Vanguard is neither hardcore, veteran, or worthy of an uber gaming rig. I am a big gamer, a MMO player for 9+ years, and have an awesome computer running at very high resolution. Still in the end;
LOTR > Vanguard.
All the rig in the world won't save you from pablum disguised as gameplay, though.
He's from the FUTAR!!!
The 4th grade?
Man, now I'm even more confused.
Actually, Solareus is going to send a T1000 from the future to kill the game.
And it's angsty teenage son!

I guess all these people who supposedly beta tested LOTR missed that big screen that talks about PRE-Ordering the game. Strange, huh? Almost makes one believe that they are bashing that game just to make Vanguard look better, but surely they wouldn't do that...surely.

I'm not really sure I'm following you.
Are you saying that Solarus is refering to preorders? And there giving away big screens?
Are you making a comment about someone getting flamed for starting a thread, in essence, about LoTRO in a VG forum? Noone would do that would they...surely not.
What is funny about this post is that Lotr has ZERO customization for the characters, and you "cast" or use the same "spells" skills.... Over and over and over. . If this is the new standard in PVE mmorpgs then we are all doomed.
