I have pre ordered. And I just got in the closed beta today. very nice game so far. One thing I am not happy with is like AC2 you cant enter the buildings. The few so far you can are instanced like the ones in DDO.
Back in beta one just before it ended there was a similar poll and with about 500 or so of the beta testers replying about 80% of he votes were positive. The game is still very strong on all the retail sales charts so I doubt we will be lonely ingame.
The Game seemed ok to me, but reminded me too much of WoW which I'm now tired of. Thats probably why the beta didn't do much for me granted I did like how many quests they had, they way they set the crafting professions, and the whole title earning advancement which eventually led to traits did catch my eye as being slightly unique. In the end though I'm not really looking for a game to replace WoW by being a slight updated version of WoW with a few new ideas tossed in, maybe in 6 months or so of trying out other MMOs or staying away from them in general I'll come back and try LoTR (if they have a free trail period) and see if it sticks then.
avoid it -- imho same instanced crap like ddo and gw -- another fast food mmo (without RPG).
Played beta for 2 weeks (hoping it will get better) was really dissapointing , i´m a great fan of the books and films, but this is just another Turbine-Joke !
to all Fanboys : just a different opinion , no need to take it offence

(and no i´m NOT playing VG )
Well, I certainly am not going to flame anyone for thier opinion, I am not about that at all.
But... (you knew there would be a "but" right? ) I feel the need to comment still
Having played every mainstream mmorpg (barring 1... I never played WWII) since M59 and UO, I found more "RPG" in LotRO than I have in any mmo that released after UO.
Also, I am seeing almost no instancing at all. I know it's there, the devs have said themselves that it's like 20% instanced... but having played both of the games you compared it to, it's not even close! Aside from the first 5 levels, everywhere I go is open to the public. Dungeons, all of the hunting grounds, the forests, the lakes and streams, the entire game from level 5 to my current level (15) has been totally public. I see tons of players everywhere I go, so I don't understand this part of your statement. No flames here, just trying to figure out what you mean is all. It's like we are playing two very different games or something.
I've been playing a lot last few weeks, and I've only found a couple of 'instances'. There's lots of little loading screens when you go into and out of dungeons etc, but those are NOT instances... just little technical performance points. The whole world feels pretty open to me...
I am currently playing Vanguard SOH and Betaing LOTRO. My initial plan was to play both, with Vanguard being my main focus and LOTRO being my background game. Basically, I was going to get the lifetime founders deal and just play LOTRO solo when I fancied a change from Vanguard.
BUT, I have now cancelled my Vanguard account due to the issues I keep having with stability. My system is new and pretty high-end:
Now, I know that there are 'issues' with Vanguard and the 8800, but the problems that I have in Vanguard make it a frustrating experience to say the least. CTD's every session, sometimes 1 in 4 hours, sometimes 4 in 1 hour. Flickering objects. Whiteout of various pieces of landscape with a torch on at night.... I could go on and that isnt to mention the server crashes.
So, Sigil have until my current sub runs out (April 3) to get working on at least some of these issues instead of fannying about 'balancing' (nerfing) classes and adding new weapons etc or I will be playing LOTRO exclusively and its Bye-Bye Vanguard.
LOTRO plays like an absolute dream on my system, with no problems whatsoever and is a great game. Not as in-depth as Vanguard, but it sure is a hell of a lot of fun.
MMORPG History: Playing - EVE Online. Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion. Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9). Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.

Preordered after 1 week in closed beta. - My very first MMOG to preorder.
Lifetime subs. is a bit too expensive for me (more expensive in Europe ), but the reduced monthly fee seems nice

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.
My wife and i have both pre-ordered, and we are poking our son with various sharp objects to get him to join us too.
Cannot wait for the 30th we so want to start developing our characters properly.
I miss DAoC
Same game and all my friends are there.
Been playing since the earliest Alpha and have been terribly impressed. I like the game, just not enough to purchase.
Had to chose the "avoid buying the game" option.

And thats my 2 cents
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
The more I play it the more I discover things that make me very glad that I pre-ordered and also make me lean towards a lifetime subscription.
