I suspect Mythic learned their lesson about straying too far from the RVR combat model and won't introduce PVE content/gear that unbalances the core combat system. Look for PVE "dragon" raids to drop things like respec stones, special dyes and crafting materials, or other cosmetic items. But I don't believe the "Sword of 1000 Truths" will be found on a Pve raid.
Most likely, we'll find out that crafted items are the real prizes, and that coupled with the special pvp only skills that you earn while doing RVR will be how you trick out your character.
BTW....interesting post about AOC devs stating their favortism towards upper end Pve raiders... if thats true I'll be passing on that game for sure...for strictly that reason...

That's one thing i think WoW changed (for the worse) in today's MMOs. I remember guilds actually consisting of people that liked each other, maybe knew each other in RL, just found that they got along very well or fit in the same niche. They enjoyed doing what they did with the guild, be it raiding or PVPing, maybe they wouldnt play along with a military schedule setting every tuesday as a must-be-there raiding day, but the people i played with knew what a promise was, and if you were to ask someone if they'd be there on friday to help lead a raid and they said yes, they'd be there. Today it seems guilds are solely made for the purpose of achieving a single goal, and are very very heterogene mixes of people that are only kept together by near totalitarian control and rules. Now most will say that with the old style guilds you couldnt master the challenges of what modern developers throw at you. Seriously, do you think these people dont grow accustomed to each other and hone their skills? I've joined a small guild of only 4 people once, whom ive had come to know as dear friends before i joined, and by other people doing the same over time, and then inviting some other people they knew that played and were close to them IRL (we had like 3 groups of people each consisting of 2 to 5 persons being RL friends) we did grow, and suddenly we were friday nights primetime raid leaders for PvE and renowned for our great clerics, since lots of us played some and got together to work out a formidable build, aswell as exchanging tips. And yes we also did manage to achieve lots of stuff with guild groups, knowing each other so well that we were capable of nonverbal communication in a way. You just knew how the other person would act. These people are close RL friends to this day, years after quitting DAoC.
That's the story of a guild back in the day. Today it seems like people look at a dungeon, its loot table and whatever it takes to run it, and then say "Damn, we gotta start a guild i guess.". Not only because as a previous poster said there's seemingly no public raiding anywhere (i.e. people being able to just join up randomly or via friends list or whatever for raids, which IMO is caused by a general drop in skill level and "knowing how to play your own char", caused by everyone who does have these skills being in aforementioned guilds and only keeping to them) but also because to many this all has become like a race for achievment, not for fun. Lots of guilds seem to be more like companies or even military units than an assortment of friends. They conduct business and enforce rules, and if your company isnt successful enough you leave without second thought and join a better team. Personally i would never want to spend my real life in something like that, and i sure won't spend my e-life in one. Partially i blame the developers for maybe throwing content that supports this at us, but mainly i blame the players themselves, taking away their own freedom or possibilities, constraining themselves to rules just to ensure they get their beloved drop, or maybe because they're better add abusing these rules than other people are.

Getting 200 ppl to do a raid in daoc is difft than WoW b/c the mob dont really drop anything we did it for fun unlike WoW ppl are greedy they did it for selfishness and telling me u got more rights to the loot just b/c u been there more than the 1st timer is wrong. Do u see ppl say they get to win mega million lotto next since they been playing lotto more than someone else?
Comparing DAOC 200 person raids to WoW 40 man raids is stupid.
DAOC raid were not on 7 day reset timers and you could go back the next day and get the loot again. The loot was also not as huge of an upgrade as it is in WoW. 200 person raids in DAOC were fun. The loot was cool, but ultimately the loot was only a slight upgrade.
In WoW the difference between a casuals gear and a raiders gear is huge. You also were offered no other way to improve your character in WoW. Crafted items sucked compared to raid gear. While the raids were fun the first several times you beat them, ultimately it turned into a grind for the gear.
If you look back at DAOC, it lost tons of people around TOA because the gear upgrades from it were insane. They took the arms race approach and it bit them in the arse. I think they learned there lesson there, at least I hope.
Now I hope WAR does have raids, and I wouldn't even mind raid instances like WoW has, but I really hope it does not turn into an arms race like TOA made of DAOC, and the current state of WoW. If they do use raid instances, I would love to see all the drops be quest based or crafting recipes so that the entire raid benefits from the raid, instead of just those lucky enough to will the roll or have the DKP.
For the people who keep going on about raiding STOP lol. There will be raiding but like it has already been stated END-GAME=20%PVE-80%PVP-RVR.
There is nothing you can do to change this and Mythic DONT need appeal to the masses.WAR is RVR-PVP-PVE mmorpg IN THAT ORDER.
There are plenty of Raiding mmorpg out there so people should have no problem finding one..Vanguard-WOW-EQ1-EQ2-LOTR you starting to get the picture.
WAR=RVR-PVP-PVE and if you dont beleave me TAKE Paul Barnetts word as gospel.
This is really everything that has to be said about this matter Simple put.
