I don't suppose that the current offer of 21 days free play to us veterans would have anything to do with it. The real test will be near the end of April when those finally run out.

    Enjoy it while it lasts.

I didn't like NGE either. What amazes me is people that never played pre CU want nothing to do with the old game. But all the new changes that are any good is from pre-cu. SOE slowly adds Pre-CU stuff back in and everyone goes on about how great it is. *scratches head* It's won't be great until a big part of the elements are restored. Making Entertainers useful again is a good step..but good grief it took them almost 2 years to throw them a bone.

The worse part is people played it anyway..tried to complain on the boards, but the SOE nazi's stilled anything that remotely said we don't like the new game. I do miss the old game. I went back to play for a bit but I haven't played since entertainers were useful again. I may try it again just for the entertains. I don't have to like the core game to dance. The housing purge is really exciting to hear. But not much else about that game excites me anymore.

Yep, Bria is overflowing as well. Actually getting lag from all the people, now! Since you have chosen to be so rude, I suppose I am entitled to reply in kind: stuff it, noob.

When I was there in December (for 3 weeks, plus a 2-week trial a month or two earlier), I also saw plenty of lag, so much that many times my kills decayed to nothing before the game would let me try to loot or harvest them. But it wasn't because of too many people being around. There was not a single other player in sight, on the overhead map, or within range of my radar. I was lagged out (not just on Bria but also the even deader servers) because the NGE's combat is still a POS like at its launch. How comforting that some things don't change, whatever the other (Pre-CU retread) improvements made.

I really don't understand why people who don't like SWG have to hate on those of us who enjoy it.

If ya'll need to vent, there is a forum for that but I suggest moving on and finding a better way to use your time.

Well all the pre NEG Vets are very angry ayt sony (not just SOE), and i mean VERY angry.. we would very much like to se the entire Sony empire cumble and go broke. Why you ask? Sony compleatly Deficated on something we liked,  and knowing  that they would upset the ones who had supported and defended them (the vets),  they just stated that they dident care.. they accualy posted some posts, where they said that they dident care that the vets would leave, if they just could get some new players in..

Iv had a lot of discussions on the SWG refugee forum part, and iv seen many who have compleatly boycut sony, and this is not only private persons, but also persons who are IT or network admins, and have the responsibility of buying thousands of different equipment.. who refuse to order any Sony equipment for the company they work for. Why you ask? ALL trust of sony is at 0. we have more trust in noname products than in sony.

How would you feel if you payed for something for years, for one day it should be taken away from you without as much as a "sorry", but insead a "Leave we dont care, cya jackass". to translate it to WOW players, it would be like blizzard transforming WOW into a dance simulator and removing all classes and all other none dance related content, and stating on the forums, that this is the way they are going, and if you dont like it, you could go strait to hell, they dident care.. how would you respond?

We wouldent have gotten mad if they just had shut the game down, sad yes, but mad no. But what they did was really say "screw you" to thoundsands of loyal customers. What they did was saying, we dont give a shit about our veteran supporters.

We really reallly hate sony, and want to se them go broke, and dos we dont want to se people giving them financiel support. and then sometimes we mite get abit angru about people buying subs at sony now..

Yes there are coming more and more players to the servers again. Both new and vet..

To call it crowded is an overstatement cause in most places it still is dead but better then a few months back. The lag still is horrible at times unfort but well i never knew it better then laggy so i don't mind.

The pre-nge boys should stop posting bad stuff over and over...they should FINALLY  get a life after SWG imho. You are not playing the game any more and this is the SWG CURRENT part of the forum wich mostly only the guys who play it could refer to.There is an SWG VET part to make your comments on.

The vets who still are playing shouldn't overdo it with the "it's a LOT better and we have loads of new content too....caus it is slightly better then it was..but don't play it as if the game made great changes through the last year caus it definatly didn't.

I don't think i know any game that has so many people overdoing the hatred or love on this forum  then SWG.But i am loving the game allthough it isn't and never will be again what it was.I got over that and now play for what it is...no sence in stating over and over again how it was cause it will NEVER EVER come back.

I know why the pre-nge boys are mad..like the poster above me paying for a game years and then getting it changed totally in a night is harsh and SOE did the thing they do best at that time.I amnot a SOE lover too.But it is more then 1.5 year back...i mean shouldn't you be over it yet?

This is btw not meant as flame to the pre-nge vets caus as you see i also don't like the way the peoplewho still play the game make it look like the game is the best there is...it just ain't...

I reckon it has something to do with deticating themselves to a game that they loved and cherished for several years only to have it be removed near completely to better suit a linear mainstream audience.

Many of the vets here would rather see the game dead and Sony burning than the NGE continue.  The Sony tactics of shutting down pre-cu were abominable and they're (the vets) exceptionally disappointed, but worse, still haven't let go.  The dedicated Veteran's Forum doesn't really help this at all but mmorpg.com has no incentive to shut it down -- they sell ads to people who come to post and pre-cu/nge debates create quite a bit of forum fodder.

That's all fine and dandy, but the main point was that there is an entire forum for you guys to vent in ;)  Telling people not to play something they find fun simply to support your cause is also a little selfish.

There are a number of us here on this forum such as myself who have been playing SWG from the beginning and still do today.  So yes, I know what you've been through.  To blame all that happened with the game on SOE, or more specifically, Sony, is misguided.  LucasArts also plays a pretty big part in SWG.  You can't blame one company for it while excusing the other.

FYI Bria is not overflowing with people and or lag because of it.

LAG has been worse since the NGE due to some bad code.

Bria, at one time being a beta player from the start has not OR not even remotely seen the population it once had since the NGE.

So please if your going to state somthing like that, at least know or say that it IS NOT or not even close to what it once had.

(like the 500 people standing in Coronet starport alone) -- So yeah... it is not like that by all means.

Unless you are actually logging in on Bria (or any other server for that matter) currently, kindly shut the fuck up. Noone here gives a flying fuck about the game that used to be. Also, I get very little lag, if any (it's called knowing how to set up your rig and game),  until I hit a heavily populated spot. And "overflowing" to me is basically a hell of alot of people on at the same time, so don't presume to call me a liar with your "FYI" bullshit on matters you know nothing about, since you are always quick to point out the fact YOU DON"T PLAY!!! Now, take your happily uninformed ass back underneath the veteran's rock section.

Oh how incorrect there young paddy.... oh and please, do not blame anyones rig for the lag please... that is just... well, silly sport.

Now then... again... it is not nor near the population you insist it is.   So if it is..please post the cities and all the screen shots right now of how it looks in game.

From each star port would do fine... but alas, you like cuss words and some nasty nasty insults to make you feel better...   Tell ya what... post as screen shot when there is 500-700 people in each major city... that way then I can say your right... it is just full again... I will GLADLY say that then.   Until then, there is nothing wrong with posting a reply to your input.

Because they have nothing better to do, simple as that. Why should they go to their "cry me a river" forum really? Everyone there is just as sad and full of spite as those that come here to spout their garbage.  They need to spread their hate around and who better to rain their "poor me" hate on than those that play and enjoy the game.

I've read most of the posts and its funny and sad at the same time, well mostly sad. Nothing you can say will make them go away, best thing to do is just ignore them. Most dont have anything worth while to say anyway.

No.  For me, the biggest and best change was to make it more structured and less "sandbox."  I know a lot of people love sandbox, but I don't.  I prefer concrete goals over artificial ones that were set after discussing what to do for an hour.  I prefer a class system to the skill based system.  I feel it gives people more of a sense of duty and usefulness in groups.... everyone knows their "role."  I also prefer the current combat system SOOOO much more than the pre-cu combat.  I felt the oscillating HAM bar was needlessly unwieldy and feel it is more action oriented now.... as a Star Wars game should be.

These are just my opinions, but I greatly prefer the current incarnation of SWG compared to what it used to be.  And that's coming from a guy who was one of the first 100 beta testers of the game.  Yes, they're adding features back in now that were there pre-cu, but hopefully they'll do them right this time.  Another thing I hated about the pre-cu was the Pokeman Star Wars aspect where EVERYONE had a friggin rancor running around behind them.  From day 1 I was advocating that, if we HAVE to have stupid pets following us around to boost our DPS, at least make droids be the preferred option.

And that was a second tier server, not as people-choked as Bria or Ahazi.

No, I'm not kidding you.  Are you kidding me?  I played on Chilastra and Bria (two of the more populated servers) from day one, then off and on since then.  I NEVER saw any where even close to 500 people at the Coronet starport - and I was in Coronet all the time since my house was right outside of there.  Not even close to 500 people there.  If that was hyperbole, it would be nice if that were clarified, because otherwise, it just spreads misinformation.

    I'd have to say,

    NO

In fact, I've seen nothing but a steadily declining playerbase since the day this game was launched.

There's a few glaring problems, (aside from the fact they've changed the game radically, not twice, but thrice, in about 4 years):

    1. The NGE (nuff' said)

    2. They made Jedi a starter profession (Made lots of people mad, and removed what little content the game had).

    3. They haven't done anything (add content), but TRY (and "try" is the difinitive word here) and fix the game in a year and half. The last expansion was in Nov of 05!

Oh yeah, almost forgot, the GCW system is a complete joke.

Someone really needs to stick a fork in this game, and start over, but hey, if you're having fun, good luck, it won't last long though, promise.

    In response to nakedone:
Easy. The needs of those playing outweigh the needs of the non-playing.

I find it odd that 300k (if that) ex-SWG players could all be so anal over something that normal, well-adjusted people would have gotten over within a month or so tops and would all have moved on, playing other games instead of being unhealthily obsessed with attacking the game and it's current playerbase.

In response to an earlier (trolling)post:

I also find it amusing that one of the regular "vet" trolls can come into this forum section and spout so-called facts about a game he doesn't play, but a currently playing members response to the troll gets deleted, while the troll's post does not ( considering the supposedly enforced ToC of this section of forums).
