What are you expecting from WAR?

I am expecting  the questing will be like WoW, as in "The quests are done here you must now go to the second town." I also like the ransack feature. Ive been wondering how you get money and how you ransack houses. I also hope higher lvl players can not go into lower areas.. i hate that. Ive also been wondering if you can go into dungeons. overall, I think this will be a great thing..(never forget they always hide the bad stuff)

I'm so confident upon this game I can say with at least a 99% guarantee, that this game will be a smash and a comet.

I'm expecting free beer, dancing girls, and salvation of my soul.....

OK, maybe not...but I am expecting a really fun game to play, with an enjoyable PvP component.....

What I expect from WAR is a MMORPG that has Warhammer Fantasy lore and is focused on PvP/RvR.  That is my only real expectation.  Other than that, there are a lot of things I'd like to see and not see happen, but they are not as crucial as my first statement.

I do not care if the game looks like WoW or not (personally, I played WoW for a very long time and enjoyed the look and feel of it so I Hope they adopt some of their ideas from that interface).  I do not care if there are "dungeons" as long as there are places to go that would replace dungeons (people tend to think dungeon==good loot, remember this is a pvp focused game, good loot is one the enemy!)

What I care about is that WAR continues to focus on rewarding PvP/RvR *MORE* than PvE.  That doesnt mean that you can't include some PvE stuff, just that you dont allow PvE obtainable gear to beat out PvP obtainable gear.  Games like WoW could have done this if they planned it out and focused on PvP.  Here is an idea, create equipment tags such as PVP and PVE.  And in certain zones (such as a battleground in WoW) gear that has PVE tags can not be worn and are forced off your character into your inventory.  This way you can still have massive PVE dungeons without disrupting the balance in PvP.  This also forces people to have to PvP in order to get good PvP gear instead of staying joining a guild that will walk you through a few 40 man pve raids and get you geared up so you can go have an advantage in pvp.

SO yeah, long story short, my expectations are that they stay focused on PvP and continue staying close to the warhammer fantasy lore.

    That is all.

There will be some standard questing, but I think most of the PvE oriented questing will involve "Public Quests."  You enter an area, and you automatically get a quest that everyone can get involed in.  Then, depending on your level of participation, you get so many Influence points to use to get rewards from a local NPC.

However, a large part of the questing system will involve the RvR content.  Even in non-skirmish areas (ie., players cannot attack other players), some quests will be in direct competition with the enemy.  Like, Dwarfs must go out and heal wounded soldiers, while the Greenskins are sent out to kill the very same soldiers.

Higher Tiered players will be unable to go into lower Tiered zones and gank newbs.  Well, they might be able to travel there, but they would be unable to attack the enemy.

There will be dungeons, but remember that the PvE portion of the game is much smaller than in other games.  The focus is on RvR.  In fact, we hear that there are some highend dungeons that are PvP as well.

I hope they make crafted gear as good than PVP/RVR & PvE gear. I don’t want to see everyone running around with the same weapons or armor because that is the only option. With that being said I hope they make crafting meaningful and not something you just use to get you toon to the end game and then it becomes useless.

    1) Yes some will be however, you compete aginst the other sides (even in non -pvp areas) to complete the quests.

    2) Hmm i do not think you "ransack houses" , tyou can take over territory and the buildings there in, including each sides main cities.

    3) They have already stated that higher tier players can go into lower tier areas, and are debuffed to the poitn where lower tiers can own them, they also can not start combat in these areas. (IE they are temparly nerffed back to nooby :) )

    4) Yes they plan on having i forget like 3 end gmae dugeons that are pve only, and there are many many many  pvp instance that are kinda liek dungeons (well kinda).

A lot of the information that we have comes from videos or podcasts.  There are a few videos on the main Warhammer Online site and you can also find some by doing a search for warhammer online on youtube.

  • I expecting there is a lot of burn-out  World of Warcraft players, there might try giving this game a chance.

Even taking into consideration there have been a lot of War/WoW related topics about the issue, clone/copy which cause a lot of flame bait. Anyway. with lots of these Ex-WoW players there are eager to try something new and interesting, I actully think this can hit the sky.

Mostly from the official Warhammer Online website.  Be sure to check out the #3 Podcast especially.

But also from a lot of previews written up recently by game sites.  There was a press event a couple months ago.  There are links under the Press Coverage page of the official site.

Aside from that, just ask about anything you want to know right here.  Most of us have been following the game for a while, and know a lot about it.

    Expect vs Want?

I expect a choice of PvP or PvE.

I expect that the amount of content for PvE to decrease at higher levels and the content for PvP to increase.

I expect the best rewards will be from PvP.

I expect for major RvR wars to rage non stop, with a steady ebb and flow between the opposing Realm.

I expect most people will play Elves or Chaos.

I expect this MMO to be fun.

I want WAR to be as much fun a year from release as it was during the first few weeks.

I want WAR to be stable.

Where did you read that?  I was under the impression that they would be unable to participate at all in the lower Tiers.

It is PVP> PVE , however you are supposted to beable to level to max without ever pvping. However, it would not be as fun seeign as a large % of the game will be pvp. Also at the start it is a bit more pve then pvp and by the highest levels it is mostly pvp.

im expecting no over powered class,

    Hope theres jumping,

    guilds

    and thats basicly it.

Going to be a goblin squig herder

I am looking for pvp that does not get repetative after a couple hours at the level cap like WoW did for me. And yes, they can go into the lower teirs to participate in action.

Also the stats they gave about 80% pvp in teir 4 is a little confusing. There are actually 3 end game dungeons on those tier 4 places. You just go read things on their site or listen/watch all the vids to find the information out.

its not burnout from WOW that has me looking at warhammer, its the developers in WOW that have me looking at warhammer.

when you lose your original vision, and devs, say oh, the whole wow team a month into launch due to internal conflict from the new french owners not giving a shit about your input, things go the way they have in WOW. player classes lose focus on what they do/did in WOW. player classes are slowly ramped up in power to compensate and things get out of hand as the everquest devs that were hired try to compensate using everquest formulas (insane damage meters, and CC) but they fail miserably and we have the results today. lore is so far out the left window its laughable, does anyone need explanations?

items/armor/trinkets/weapons, and the next pretty graphic piece of crap drive WOW, skill need not apply. couple this with macros that make even the most complicated maneuvers and keystrokes laughable. this all needs to go away in warhammer, just my opinion.

no macros at all, none. storylines that are pure and not polluted by outside influence. weapons/armor/items for graphics appeal only. skill based, hmm too many good ideas have been brought to light, lets hope some see development. pvp, yes coupled with, whats the word? skill? one can only hope.

randomness in rewards, what a kick to see some world changing event item get picked up simply by accident/circumstance by a person that only plays one hour a week or month................

eveness on rewards. personally i dont care if you spend 120 to 24/7 hours a week playing and raiding in an mmo and think yourself elite and deserving of much better equipment than myself. screw that mindset. everyone paying a fee deserves the same level of equip/items (i'm retired so i play alot, and i will be devils advocate here) . to quantify my line of thinking we need only look at WOW's current state.

i see no problems now if warhammer makes that one, "one" ultra uber server only item that the whole raid grp will have to roll on and will never drop again.

why raid? well of course my kiddies for the challenge!! only the challenge. oh that and say raiding will give your realm some token buff or resource to use the other realms can for a set amount of time.

but WOW in its current form, its just a filler i play until someone does something "i" like better, one always has to put up with crap until a better job comes along doesnt one?

will it be warhammer? i sincerely hope so.

can you smell that?!!...............there is nothing quite like it.....................the smell of troll in the morning............i love that smell.

The only thing I disagree with in your post is that equipment shouldn't be too hard to get I agree, but the player who invests more time into the game should have more shots at getting better gear than somebody who plays an hour a night.  You should be rewarded the more time you put into something and this goes for most things, like even work. If you work at your job for 20 years, you should have higher payer than the kid who works 3 days a week working 4 hours each of those days.

I expect this game will be over-hyped.

I learned to expect the worst and hope for the best, that way you might actually be pleasantly surprised when you try out a mmo instead of listening to all the fanboyz.

I expect a RvR based game which will give me the feeling I'm contributing to the war! Also I like to enter enemy zones with groups and have smash my foes down to pieces! I'm also in for epic sieges now and then

Rvr was defined by Mythic and by that definitionWAR does not have RVR. Now they are claiming it does, however, they are the ones that defined what it was with DAOC and their statments about it, they can not simply change that difinition to promote a new game. Well that is what they have done , but anyone paying attention realizes that there is almost no RVR in WAR.

Instead they are using a WOW pvp system , were wins and losses add up to points which effect the territoy you control.

There are open rvr areas however, it has been stated little of the pvp goes on in them.

I still believe it will be fun , but it will not be RVR and i believe the reason for this was its so hard to program code and server that can support 300+ people sitting on top of each other in a crazy world of spells and junk. People like Wow and this will get them to like WAR instance pvp ... tag line. And lastly RVR in daoc was rarly balneced in fact that wa somethign you had to over come, to do this CC was used (i believe the best use of CC in  anygame to date) However, CC has gained a very negitve face and so without that was system was left to regular and even sides... split everyone up and have them fight in a box.  The sad part about thsi si no longer will you need to fight tooth and nail like you did in DAOC , a loss was a lose of a keep or a loss of an artifact . . . it ment something.

But i still enjoy wow pvp , sure its repeditve a bit, but ehhh , and WAr plans on having like 50 TIMES more pvp insatnces than WOW has so that should keep you mastering each or replying them much more entertaining.

AS for "Also the stats they gave about 80% pvp in teir 4 is a little confusing."

this means that 80% of the content is pvp content (ie 80% of the land in teir 4 areas is pvp open) , additionally 20% is pve only. At teir 1 the reverse is true and 20% is pvp and 80% is pve.

No, you don't lose your items.  Players that kill you can loot your corpse, but they get random drops.  They don't get to snatch up any of your gear.
