EQ2 Resurgence?

TniceTnice Member Posts: 563

I re-subed to EQ2 this weekend after realizing that Vanguard is 2-3 years away from being ready for release and see that the server list is all Medium to Heavy. Even my old Venekor PVP server is at medium and 4 months ago it was barren.  I log into A-B to pursue a little PvE action and it is packed.

Is EQ2 making some type of resurgence after 2 years or is this not normal?  What's the deal?

    Appears that is the case...

I've actually been wondering about checking it out again... feeling kinda screwed at the moment after V:SoH was such a waste of money.

Sunday afternoon/evening is typically the busiest time for all mmorpgs.  Check back on Tuesdays since that is the slowest day.

it makes sense as VSOH doesn't appear to be that popular and with WoW's expansion having a very short shelf life, EQ2 would appear to be the heir apparent.

I returned to EQ2 about a month ago after playing WoW for a little over a year.  I'm excited to see there are a lot of others joining me.  I play on Guk and the population has been high.  I always see other players running around and frequently get tells for groups.  I've been enjoying the game so much with the changes they've made since last I played.  I've run into a lot of other WoW refugees as well.  Heres to hoping EQ2 sees a nice boost!

That's good to hear.  I thought EQ II was pretty fun when i played it, but the barren starting areas eventually turned me away.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

I just installed and played it for the first time last week. I think people are leaving WoW in more numbers, and some of them are going to EQ2 (This was my case, and the case of a few other noobs I've met in game). The game has been surprisingly fun so far. The community also seems to be a higher caliber. People seem more mature. Fewer trollish asshats.

I am eager to get into EQ2 to give it a shot.  Played WoW for about 2 years, then VG for the past month or so but that didnt last too long.

The 7 day trial has been patching for a couple hours and has a couple more but hopefully I get to see what the game is all about soon!

Seems like it is about time I downloaded this and took a look. I was addicted to it's predecessor for long enough.
  • Welcome back

I also gave up on VSOH a couple weeks ago and am back to playing EQ2. In fact, it seems like I am seeing more new people coming from VSOH than I am coming from WOW.

EQ2 is a far better game than when I quit the first time around (about 18 months ago).

BTW, you can buy the EOF expansion in EB etc and online, and it includes all previous expansions. Costs about $35 I think.

Of course it might be that nobody ever admits they played WOW

Downloaded the trial and gave it a fair go this afternoon/evening.  Wasn't terribly impressed with the Fae... but you can tell the game has been improved significantly since launch.  I'm glad people are enjoying themselves!

    Cheers

I have played EQ for nearly 8 years, but I also played WoW and DAoC in between without canceling.

I tried Vanguard but quit at level 26, nothing to do but really LFG; it was not fun for ME (might be for others).

As I write this, I am downloading the trial version.  I tried to return to WoW but was going brain dead playing. lol.

If you buy Eof online, you dont have the other expansion. Only the retail "box" version came with all the expansion.
