    WoW is a horrible game, at (best). Honestly, I find it sad how people flame him or say he's this / that for no reason. Other than for the sake of arguing, people say: " NO!!!  You're Wrong!  WoW is t3h aw3some. "



    SO I think this whole topic is lame, but definitely deserved. For what reason is WoW good. Because I've played MMO's myself a long time and played every mainsteam MMORPG worth playing. WoW is a cookie cutter and the only reason it's doing " Well? " is because people suck all of their friends into it. Because they and their friends have nothing better to do with their otherwise meaningless lives.



    Sad truth, aye?



    Because I've seen the people who play it ( I don't ), and the people who talk about it religiously and frankly it's disturbing. Raids are retarded and in no way challenging. The Burning Crusade is a horrible update and has no point. The game is old, boring and simply just crap. If someone can give me a valid reason to play and enjoy the game, please do so.



    Instead of just saying, no... "WoW is an AWESOME game." Tell me why. Because as a game developer and experienced MMORPG player, I see WoW as just another cookie cutter. As just another shitty  fantasy MMO. Of which we already have hundreds of that are crap. Agreed?



    I look further to replying to what is posted here after this reply because there's simply nothing that seperates WoW from any game other than... ooooo, everyone plays it.... The thing I hate the most is the addiction is forces people into. Not like regular MMO's, it's much worse and kills your social life. On top of that, seriously..... WoW is for inexperienced, young people new to computers and MMO's.

    Agreed. WoW managed to grasp me during a bad semester and I used it as a means to escape failure. It ended up sucking me into a vortex of failure and i'm proud to be over it.

    Lol, you sir havent played DAOC to it's fullest ot you would not have said that. DAOC has extremly deep and complex gameplay, which shines in the PvP department.

    I actually agree with the original poster, partial. WoW is a disease for the MMO scene.

    I still wish to go back to the release of AO. Now that's a game that took only skill.

    I play WoW. Do I like the game? No. Why do I play it then? Because of my friends =)
    WoW might not be the best game but it has a bit of everything packaged together. Take Guild Wars for example. I really like the skill system and the classes, PvP is very balanced and a lot of fun, but it just doesn't feel like an MMORPG. There's no world but just instances. And social interaction is more than often a no-go. People form groups (if they form groups thanks to heros these days at all) and leave these groups afterwards without a word.
    Or take EvE. Pretty complex open-boxed game. Player controlled PvP. But most of the time you will face space. And more space. And even, well, more space =). And PvE is pretty boring (though CCP wants to address this in the future).
    So, WoW has a bit of all. It might not excel in on aspect but it just gives a bit of everything.

    Its sad people blame WoW for the state of the MMO genre, WoW obviously filled a very big gap in the MMO market, its now down to other devs to produce a game to plug the other holes and to move the genre forward.  WoW should not have to change, its what it is and thrives at what it does.



    Get over it, stop sounding like jealous kids and grow up. 



    We got WAR and AoC to look forward to, an MMO takes more than a week to produce, an MMO will typicaly take 4 years to produce so patience is a vertue in this game.

    big props to the OP

    i was also dragged into WoW by friends, enjoyed it til my first lvl 60 toon, and then, rinse and repeat 6 times, with raiding included for my main toon - yea, too much free time i know, plus the work i do allows me to play games while at work :o

    basically i played it while hating to play it...

    Recant, put your post on other forums, so people have their eyes opened

    Playing this game is a molestation of my personal boundaries.  I feel violated every time Blizzard forces me to play this junk.  Yes I am forced to play this game, because all my friends have been brainwashed by Blizzard and the only way to contact them is logging into Disneyland.



    This game is played by the kind of person that downloads 1,000 free smileys to send to their simpleton friends over spyware-ridden instant messenging software.  I wouldn't even wish this game on my worst enemies, because my worst enemies are the millions of cronies that play this piece of garbage.  These are the kinds of people who post themselves imitating Britney Spears (who probably plays this game) to Youtube, and give 5 stars equally awful videos.



    They should force people in prison to play this game, in fact, they probably already have - which explains why this game has the WORST COMMUNITY EVER.  This probably has something to do with the fact that 95% of players are actually gold farmers from some inferior foreign country (fact).  Actually this would make a good idea for a re-write of Prison Break - bunch of guys break out of prison because they no longer want to play WoW anymore.



    And speaking of lame TV shows; that only morons watch (I only watch the news because it's challenging)  an entire Season of 24 could be done in one episode if Jack Bauer threatened all the terrorists and corrupt government officials with WoW game-time cards (which suck, because it means idiots and kids can play the game - not sensible and responsible people like me who have several credit cards).



    This game is an affront to every well made competitive game out there.  They claim to have 'PvP', when in reality there is no PvP.  PvP takes NO SKILL whatsoever.  I just go AFK in a battleground and my opponents die at my feet.  There are no rewards at all, it's just a complete grind of factions.  I spent 1000s of hours grinding to get the good stuff, and I hated every single minute of it.  Anyone who claims this game has PvP has obviously never played PvP in another MMO (100% pure fact).



    The world is tiny, there is absolutely no content at all.  I blinked and I missed half the game.  And now Blizzard have the audacity to release an expansion so that my YEARS of hard work in the game has become USELESS because the new expansion has better gear that even my grandad could get, and he's dead.



    The reason I am posting this is because I have a rich and fulfilling life. I have a good education and I associate myself with the cream of society.  I am trying to impose my superior opinions onto the ignorant masses that play this game and you had better believe I am right.  For the tiny percentage of WoW players that don't suffer from an attention deficit disorder and actually read this far; there is hope... one day you might play a real MMO and be saved from this plague of filth that clogs the tubes of the internet.



    I would deliver more insight onto you but I've got to get to Outland, late for my guild's raid.   It's going to suck I just know it.

    Cancelled my wow acccount a few days ago ..after 2years + ....im even considering comming back one day IF they add something interesting with a future patch     /cheers

    I have a very simple solution to your problems:



    If you dont like it, dont play it.

    If you use your friends as the only excuse that you play something you hate, then how old are you? Or better yet, what level of maturity are you at? If your friends start taking black tar herion, should you? Something to think about.

I seem to recall that I was actually saying that his post was quite harsh and if you must insult him for anything it is that, not for his opinion, he has also said that he doesn't play WoW anymore, get a life please and yes it does make me feel clever making fools out of people like you, stop with the personal insults already or else I'll happily throw reports your MMORPG.com's way, this is a place where people can post their own opinions, if you have a problem with it, post your arguments but don't go making insults like that, though it seems that you clearly won't stop regardless of what people say.

    You clearly seem to have a problem with A) The fact that he hates this game with a passion and doesn't play it anymore but has played it in the past or B) Seems to be proven right that you are behaving like a bunch of simpletons with your pathetic name calling and trolling.

Way I see it, people are just going to hate your game even more if you carry on like that, I played World of Warcraft for two years, it was my friends that kept me going and the roleplay, nothing more, when I felt that slipping away from me I quit, because I couldn't stand idiots calling my attempts at creating Roleplay a 'crusade' and how they constantly slandered me everywhere I went, sod off if your going to continue this stupid method of attacking those who don't agree with you.

    Are you done yet? Go read a book. Toss around a frisbee. Go to the park. To the zoo. Go to the beach. If you feel "forced" to play WoW because your friends still do, I'll ask the age old question, "If your friends jumped off a bridge would you jump off to?"     Why do people keep posting crap like this? I didn't even read it, just the first two sentances and the last one. I'm sure the rest of it is 99% similar to every other post made on this subject. Where do you guys get the cookie cutter for this rant? I need to sue the guy selling the mold for psychological damages. In America, I'd probably win.

    What's funny is a saw a dev post at WoW.com forums and a Dev actually said they place hypnotic suggestions in the game to make you play more, they also have a hack line of code that makes your computer spit out heroin through the keyboard so it soaks into your skin and makes it physically addictive. They also said pink flying ponies are real?!

    Seriously. Amazing.

    I really hope this is a joke post or I'm really, really, really sorry for anyone you comes into contact with you, as your presence will probably drop their IQ a few points.

    It's funny how about 90% of comments on all MMO's compare what they play to WoW. It just goes to show how popular WoW is. If you don't like it then fine don't bother spending a page saying how much you hate it cause frankly no one cares about how other MMO's are more complicated, more in depth and require more skill. Maybe you haven't realised but there are such things as casual gamers that actually have lives and don't wanna spend hours leveling. WoW = 100% fun and doesn't equire much time toget things done. And for me fun = good game. Stop bitching about WoW it just shows how you can't stand a game to be popular.

    I agree on alot of points, It does get boring fast, and it seems to be the most popoular, who knows why?



    Its like Counter Strike on Half Life/Steam, thats popular, but i hate the game, I dont know why its so popular?



    I guess it just caters for the majority, yes i have played wow, and yes, only because my friends did/do, but i have stopped, i'll pay for one mont every now and then when i can afford it (thats another reason i dont play), i'll pop in, say hi, do some quests, but thats it, one month in every 4 or something like that, at best..



    I dont like wow, so i dont play it often, simple as that, i dont go off and slate it on forums though, if someone wants to play wow, and spend every waking hour on it, thats their choice, not mine ;)

    Most people hate WOW because they were just kicked out of a guild for being a bad healer or warrior.  I suspect that is why there is so much WOW bashing. Don't hate the game hate your guildies....or former guildies.





    BTW just trying to add a really absurd post for the hell of it.

    WoW sucks... Theres no real entertainment there... Tust the basics of the really shitty mmos like tabia. I agree with the fact that theres no challenge, concidering the macro feature in the game can make it so all you have to do is set the macro to run and it will kill everything for you...
