SWG IS DEAD!!!

Anyone hear heard about an emulator being made that will be pre CU SWG?  Im so excited!  When it comes out SWG is toast!  I recently logged on the old SWG from my 10 day welcome back free trial too see how it changed.  There is NO ONE playing.  There are NO vendors, NO PVP, just NO players!  I couldnt even find anything on the bazaar to buy.  SWG is going down the tubes baby!

Sorry bud, but he's right on some servers its actually dead, easy to tell a dead server go to the Bazzar search the whole all the planets for all on Starsider you search all there is not even 1500' items for sale. And most of it is looted 90%, all crap this is caused by SOE crapping on the traders and no decay.

Dieing would be good but they will merge servers soon.

How Sad is that man.... Still today I can't find a Game that brings That feeling that SWG had, None.

The game being dead is a situational claim.. There is a few servers that are quite active.. I have a 90 ent on bria that I never really played much but logged in there yesterday (sat noon), and the server was hopping with tons of people.. Restuss was very active, eisely cantina packed with 40 or so people and the streets of eiesely had another 60 or so... Bria isn't my normal servers but I can see how some people say the games not dead, while others claim it is.. It just depends where your playing..

I think the "majority" (95%) of swg servers are dead is probably a more accurate statement. The game still thrives on a handful of servers though.. I can't even seem to play an ent long before the client hard locks on me though.. I thought it had something to do with combat but even just standing around dancing and buffing people hard locked the client..  The game has a ton of problems.. Apparently theres a bug where people are logging in to find lost levels and abilities.. I mean what kind of mickey mouse operation are they running? The games horribly riddled with problems.. I can't believe they can get away with charging 15/month.. seems like it might be worth 4.99/month to me for the amount of refinement that game actually has.

Open the Bazaar and click the "Vendor" tab up the top, then do the same search.

Pretty funny, Obraik's making almost the exact same comments as before to try and keep gamers interested in the game (not very well thought out yet again obviously), I actually remember that kind of thread and all lol :P

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not reading the quotes you post in the first place...... Hey! I've found my siggy! :P

Naa, I think that most people wised up.   Sure they did not want to listen to us at first, warning them, telling them that people will be fired or let go, telling them that server merges will happen and the game will fail, telling them that it would go to shit and not be any better in a year let alone 6 months.

The sad part is that while it still brings in some cash, has such a low maintence level, NOTE: no expansions, or real content added, bringing BACK THINGS WE HAD ALREADY IN A BASTARDIZED FORM IS A LAME EXCUSE FOR CONTENT>!    No matter what when somthing goes from 0 to 1 -- people will cheer.

Right now the consumer base for the game is pretty much the filtered down, bottomed out crowd they could get.    They will trust anyone, believe anything, accept sub-par programming and then commend someone on bringing back somthing they should have never had to ask to have it back in the first fucking place.  It's not like there is that many that question what they are doing and or why anymore, instead they asll say, "THANKS!" for bringing back CH -- etc...  I mean think about it???/ "Thank you for bringing back somthing you took out and realized it was a mistake???   Are you kdding??? Who in thier right mind should be thanking them???

Did they NOT freaking listen to us the first month of the NGE???   I mean people are actualling telling them "THANK YOU FOR ADDING CONTENT!"....????????????????     This is not the type of person I want covering my back... I want the guy that asks.. Hey, why are you being fucked over?"   Or  "Hey why am I paying you to bring back things that we had before but you took out in your claim to the better game, then bring them back and tell me it is new?"....

People do not get the concept of " Oh hey here is some shiney NEW air I want to sell you!",  Please buy it, you need it, it's just like old air but better.... cause it's now called "new air"........  Yep, pretty much the most forgiving consumer base I think I have ever seen.

Real Star Wars fans or I dare say (die hard) ones do not even give the game 2 cents of respect now... at fan fests, or websites,  SWG is not known as the end all Star Wars game or is it revered as anything worth the time.

What I like is that SWG did not make the top 100 video games this past year, but Star Wars Legos came in 5th.

NOW THAT is funny.....(although it is a really fun game, it works)...

If anything I hope some of the younger consumers DO NOT think this is normal and don't take this abuse in the real world.    They will not last very long if they do.

Iska, i miss your old avatar. also, yeah, old news kids, Obraik, give it up, 4000+ post you still only have 4 stars. most of the post probably say the same thing.

I wouldn't be so quick to go after Obraik, considering everyone in this section only says the same thing time after time after time. Quite amusing, and ridiculous that so many people have so little to do with their life that they crusade against a video game and consider it a noble cause. A psychiatrist would have a field day with some of these "vets".

I play on the Eclipse Server and it is still pretty active. There's always some people in Mos Eisley Cantina and there is alot of stuff on the Bazzar Terminals.Sadly though, there is no one in the Theed or Coronet Cantinas and Hospitals like there used to be.

See, there are those of us who remember when there were large populations of players, simultaneously, in Theed, Moenia, Coronet, Anchorhead, Mos Eisley, and Bestine (and probably a few others I am forgetting). Each one had probably 3x what you are seeing now just in Eisley, and there were 6 such cities, which equates to nearly 20x the activity you are seeing now.

For example, a "full entertainer group" is now 8 people. Originally it was 20. So "a full group of entertainers" in all those cities in the old days meant 120 entertainers (and that's *just* entertainers, not counting customers, etc) all simultaneously active. Now, "a full group of entertainers in Eisley" means 8 people simultaneously active. See the difference?

So when you say "it's still pretty active", those of us who remember when it was actually active, just chuckle.

Oh god yeah, you could not land on cornet without being berated by a macro of all the doc's wanting to buff you. Then in the hospital there were people constantly comming in and out and you could find a medic there any time of the day. Cantinas on any planet always used to be pack full of people to the point of glitchs and lagg.

Honestly, i miss the most was being out in the middle of no where and comming across an active camp and sit down with the people to relax and heal. It just gave the game such the feeling of adventure.

Towards the OP for the Emulator.

Its almost done, give or take a few months.

There are various groups making their own versions of the emulator. Adding and taking what they want from and to the origional game to make it perfect in their view.

Overall though, the whole emulator is almost there... almost complete. Think of it like the second Death star, i guess? Its fully operational but lacking features...

Right now, what i can say is finished for those of you interested..?

The game is working. You can create a character and run around in the game world.

    Travel is working.

Professions (all 32) are up and running for the most part.

    NPC are in the works.

    Bazaar is working

and theres alot more thats up and running, but i wouldn't want to give away too much as it could get me in trouble

Hope that fills the few of you here excited for the emulator.

I'd agree that it is not near the game it use to be; however, many people still enjoy SWG.  At this point, it is not dead or soon to be dead.  Although, It can not take too many more blows before it's closed.  As long as there are still the numbers to keep everyone paid it will continue to have life:)

That doesn't mean the game isn't dead.

Firstly, SWG is far from dead, granted it is alot different and population is lower, but it's still very much alive (Especially on Europe servers). And secondly, even if the "The Duck" did take off,  Its very likely to die a quick death at the hands of either SOE or LucasArts.

You know what I've noticed?  The longer I stay away from SWG, the more I start to enjoy the whole Star Wars thing again.  It was such a cool thing for me as a kid, and then again when I took my kids to see the new Star Wars films.  I'm glad that my kids never played SWG.  They seem to love Star Wars as much as I did, and man it would have broken their hearts to be living out their own Star Wars adventures only to have all their stuff taken away, or broken, or locked up, or changed into something they didn't work for.

Anyways, I'm hoping that maybe one day when I see Star Wars stuff, I'll once again just experience the sense of wonder I used to feel, without the sick sense of loss and mistreatment I got from SWG.
