Playing it and having a great time. Its the first mmorpg since EQ that doesn't feel 'dumbed down', or full of artificial gameplay restrictions  like EQ2.

Playing V:SoH and having a great time. Yah I still play other MMOs, but when my friends are on V:SoH and we all team up. It's a blast!

Pros: Great graphics and especially the environment! I love some of the class in-combat animations and the emotes! More emotes please! I like the skills / powers / spells in V:SoH over alot of the other fantasy MMOs; especially over WoW's! EQII has a bit better skills / powers / spells IMHO. I LOVE the immense size of the game! A true sandbox experience that will only get better over time! Oh yah, and TONS of quests! I love doing quests and V:SoH does NOT disappoint, no matter what race you choose and their respective starting location. All the races have great questlines that are fun and different from alot of MMOs.

Cons: Bugs (a few quests, and some game mechanics). Low-FPS; especially in populated areas or with large groups of players present. Memory leaks! Ahhh!!! Squash the mem leaks!

Overall: V:SoH lacks a bit of the polish that other MMOs that have been out longer, but that's just the thing. V:SoH is a new release and over time will get that polished feel. Already it's come a LONG ways since launch! More to come!

    :)

    /thumbsup on V:SoH and a 8.2 out of 10 for me!

    No.

I don't want to play a beta game. So so so sick of the "promises" and "potential" posts by the dev's.

I couldn't even group without going LD because of the lag.

My wife and I are playing it. So far, We like it. Crafting and Harvesting are cool, its not just push the button and wait with fingers crossed. We've tried lots of MMO's together, and those with a bit more depth and complexity work better for us. Our last long-tern mmo together was FFXI. We also played WoW, EQ2, DaoC, Horizons, etc....TONS (I love MMORPGs, which is why I write here when I can).

I started with UO, and I honestly think Vanguard should have gone 100% old-school, instead of some degree there-of. Meaning no Job classes. Just a ton of skills that gained levels as you used them. PvP in Ultima was fun initially, in that it was open PvP with consequences. If you killed players, you turned "red" and you couldn't enter towns...so you had to live as a bandit for practical purposes.

I know this kind of harsh gameplay isn't for everyone, particularly those who need to be Uber as soon as possible. But that is WHY games should be as diverse as the people who play em should.

EDIT: to be fair, I know a lot of people who tested this game said it was a technological train-wreck, but then again EQ2 was as well. Truth be told from an unbiased perspective (I like good games and I call crap that, if it proves to ME that it sucks, and not someone’s word on it) I haven't really had many issues with the games stability. I know this is a bit hard to accept, mostly because game stability can be different for two separate people using the same game rigs. This is the bane of PC game developers everywhere. I have seen some odd things happen here and there, but mostly its stable for us. But they are always fixing this game, just as they did with EQ2 when it launched.

That said, I would not recommend this game if your PC were a bit older or closer to the minimum system requirements. Like EQ2 before it, they packed in way more detail then modern machines can handle. This is clearly done with an eye to the future, so as the game ages it can stay visually competitive. So, if you have a low-end machine, be prepared to turn the settings way down. If you know you have a low end machine, try to play the game with graphics turned up, please make sure you are wearing your "I'm a moron" T-shirt when you come here to complain about it.

Not playing it. Played some closed beta, looked good, bad performance. Keeping an eye on it though... would like to play. I've heard they have increased performance some. Just waiting on the trial and will see for myself.

Good poll. Now we have a very rough idea how many are playing.

    who me ?

  • lancebirdlancebird Member Posts: 166

Paying for it for another month... does that count?

Can't get past the poor gameplay and lack of content to actually log in and do anything though.

Not to turn the flow of the convo, but if you like WoW you may be surprised how similar it feels to LOTRO and enjoyable it is. LOTRO is very polished already and quite  good. Please people, don't start bashing LOTRO, I know this is Vanguard, just thought I'd chime in about LOTRO though.

Played VG till about level 20 and tossed in the towel.  My computer handles it just fine.  The things wrong with this game have been stated time and time again.

Nope went back to wow.  At least blizzard always delivers solid procucts, content, and expansions. I don't know how many times $oE has left a bad taste in my mouth.

The vote is accurate in terms of the mmorpg.com community. Why would a player vote no ?

    who me ?

Well, I can't vouch for everyone, but I voted no. Oddly enough, I did so because, in fact, I am not playing the game. I believe my account runs out on the 5th, but it's been uninstalled for some weeks now.

Played out the first free month and then canceled.

The server ate all of my items including armor, weapons and inventory on my lvl 15 warrior... A warrior with no armor or weapon is useless.  Started a ranger after that since I had little money on the warrior and couldn't replace my gear... played to lvl 16.

I  soon just couldn't bring myself to log into the game anymore.  If I can't bring myself to log in... it's time for something new.

Best luck to those of you who are playing though...

Im response to the op the answer is a resounding NO! I also played out the first free month but no way was I going to pay to continue playing, not like this I'm not.

I eagerly awaited this game as did many people but although I think it's way better then WOW it just didn't do it for me. I was bored playing it.  The community is terrible, and they say WoW's community is bad, well, this one will give it a run for it's money.  Florendyl the rp server which was the first server I went to, forget it.   Thunderaxe isn't as bad but still....

Even Sigil knew it was getting boring getting exp, thats why the exp increase. Grouping is a hassle, you just spend too much time trying to find a adequate group. The land is so huge at times you have to waste time waiting for group members to show up if you're lucky enough to find any, period.

I was suppose to pay up again on the 4th of this month, was checking to make sure they did in fact cancel my acount as I asked.  I still haven't deleted the game out of my computer. I really wanted to like this game and I wish I could feel the need to open the account again but I doubt it.

I left to play AA and I'm enjoying that far better then this game atm.  Maybe one day I'll feel the need to return but for now AA will suffice for me. Hopefully one of the new oncoming games is better then this one.

I voted yes. Although I'm not so sure how long it will be. I may just be getting bored with MMO's, but I've found myself more interested in playing games like Oblivion where things are interesting and actually feel like games instead of crunching numbers. I haven't been burned by any bugs or gameplay issues either, and I welcome the old school feel with open hands. I am kind of worried about solo content and that may just push me over the edge. I've gotten so used to soloing in MMos since WoW and EQ2 etc that while I enjoy grouping, I like to be able to play on my own schedule. I think it's just me. I have a few weeks left on my free month and will decide by then to re new or not.

I voted yes and I am glad I bought Vanguard. It has some problems just like any other game but I am willing to wait awhile and see what improvements they make.

And how would that reflect the amount of players that play Vanguard.

Besides from those few that reads your thread?

And you are proving that most of people posting here dont play/like the game.

Why would anyone that enjoys Vanguard read these forum, post and then get called vanboi?

I agree...most of the people that come here...are the people that dont play...have played a short time and just want to vent...wanna post things about the other games they play.

My subscription just ran out on Apr 5th.  I'll be back around to see what progress is being made over the next few months, but that's about it.  This game just isn't what it was cracked up to be, and it's not for me.

I'm not playing the game at the moment, but I'm considering it big time. I've just been resparked in EverQuest II and honestly, I am really enjoying MMO's again. I know a lot of people have asked this a ton of times, but if anyone has a buddy-key they're willing to part with, i'd love to see how much the game has improved since beta.
